@@promiseviewacres you should plant your onions in a separate container by themselves, moisten the soil and add plastic wrap on top held down with a rubber band they’ll grow don’t give up.
God is good. I have to say I really appreciate you guys. Watching most of your videos, seeing the joy and genuine spirt being easily on display...it is a beautiful thing. I am so inspired by you Gerald. I see so many similarities between the two of you and my wife and I. It's crazy. I had been looking at homestead videos. Came across yours and wow I'm so inspired to forward with my dream. May God bless you both even more!
Hi thank God I found your videos You two inspire me so much, I remember when my husband and I were so active like you two We both are in our seventies, but looking at your videos bring back so many good memories My husband is in a board in care now fighting Parkinson I love the way you two work together. DONT let friends family or anyone come between you I'll always watch your videos Thank you so much. Wish you the best Where do you live😂❤❤😊❤❤
It's been about two weeks since I came across your channel. You guys are like a breath of fresh air, even down to God bringing you two together. It is so refreshing to see young people with their heads on straight and not indoctrinated in the culture but in the ways and things of God and those things that produce goods things for yourself and other people. May God keep you and bless you in all that you set your hearts and minds to do. If zi had any sons, I would want them to be like Gerald. One thing about you guys that threw me off were those cats! 😂
I Love ❤️ watching you Gerald and Simone Promise Lake Home journey on Healthy Gardening and Juicing, for it helps me stay on the healthy track. Thank You for sharing God’s Healthy Gardening and Juicing with us. That’s Love ❤️
Thank yall for the video! Our daughter Love has seen all your videos and she wouldn’t fall in a deep sleep last night so I played this video while she was falling asleep and it did the job. Btw this is dad that has been commenting. I love that she loves talks videos be this is the type of stuff I want her to see is possible and obtainable. We feed her a lot of fruits and veggies so I love that yall promote health and God.
Whole-Fed Homestead has a video on growing onions from seed. I have heard so many people say her method is what finally helped them grow onions. I plan to try it this year! We already have the peppers and tomatoes going and are trusting the Lord for a big harvest from our time spent sowing seed. Blessings!
I LOVED this video. I am Zone 9 so we started our seeds, but seed starting is my favorite thing. You gave some GREAT tips and advice. Thank you for uploading
Glad to see that you got your tractor back! Wow, those deer reminded me of the movie "Leave the World Behind". I bet people where you live have great hunting seasons. Heirloom tomatoes are the best. Hybrid give mixed results. My wife ate some muscadine and planted the seeds. We ended up with two different varieties of muscadine.
I just discovered your channel. We moved into our acreage last June and are building it into a self sufficient homestead. Up here in northern Canada (zone3) I am a little envious of your growing season. I am determined to utilize the climate God planted me in and growing what He placed here for me to use. Love your channel so far and can’t wait to catch up on your past videos.
This is what I love about watching the videos you and your Wife put out...the principles of the Lord Almighty...I know you have read and studied the word...you apply it well...
This was soo relaxing to watch. Just had a hard day at work and needed a release from the tension 😅. This video really made my day. And watching you guys grow your own food for personal and business use inspires me to eat healthier and be more active. I need to start treating the body God gave me better and steward it well. I wish nothing but abundance for you guys. Thank you for the content ❤
Hey tip , the root of the fruit tree perineal if the deers didn’t take the entire plant continued to thrive within the soil . If you watch they may sprout again if you know where you planted them . Happy gardening!!! With shod they’ll flourish

Good morning. Very informative. Like the way you bring in scripture. Will tune in again….love Aunt Phiney
I’ve failed at onions also. This year I grew them in solo cups that are doubled for bottom watering. So I just went ahead and broadcast sowed seeds in the cup, Covered lightly with soil. When they started popping up I put them under my grow lights. They look really healthy so far the plan is to separate them at planting time. When I attempted sowing one or two in a cell I wasn’t getting good germination. They like to be close to each other apparently. That’s how the guy from MIGardener does his also so I figured I’ll try it.
Are you going to do a video on what you're growing for your business and what you're growing for home? Hopefully you get onions this year. I've tried for several years and have never gotten onions to grow.
Hello there! Question Gerald and Simone: can you all do a video about the homestead process? How you went about looking? Pricing? What were some of your must haves? What inspired you two to want to purchase 21acres and the ultimate plan (section-by-section). Do you plan to rent areas out for use (ie: events/family gatherings/build mini-rental tents of some-sort/hold your own events)? I would like to purchase land one day soon, so I admire you too and the journey you are taking.
I miss soil so much me and my husband talk about it all the time. We are from IL now living in Ga. I have all raised beds due to this horrible red clay. It’s no joke to deal with.
Oh D-D-D Deer! Lol! That was a lot of deer. Good grief! By the way, I started just using Onion Sets because, I have been trying to grow them from seed for 3 years and they never germinate. I have tried different packs of seeds over the years and nothing. Just for kicks, I tried them this Spring as well and they have been in that seedling tray now for a month and haven't done a darn thing. I wish I could tell you both the secret!
What a blessing it is watching you both with your cats and wow I saw the deers running by,you both really make my day, especially always having God in your daily lives, continued blessings ❤🙏still catching up on your past videos
I have not had good luck planting onions by seed. Last year I planted onion starts (not sets) that I got from the greenhouse. I planted in raised beds with drip irrigation. I fertilized regularly & I harvested many onions that were softball sized. Not sure where you are, but its also important to know if you are growing the correct type for your region. Onions are classified as long day, short day or intermedaite. Good luck!
They say that onions like/need Sandy soil...would have to agree as living in San Diego County...Onions are one of the Only things we have No problem growing.... California has mostly decomposed granite and sand as soil...Was raised in Illinois...and remember the dirt being Fragrant and Very Fertile...Not sure I would even call this soil as we need to add Much Manure and Leaves Etc...to grow Most anything...So Gerald..if you go to maybe Home Depot...They have 50 lb bags of Sand for under $5.00 and try half sand half soil...am sure you will get the onions your Hoping For...have also heard onions like it dry...so as not to overwater... Came across your Channel 2 - 3 weeks ago..( love ) how you shared that something as profound as Seeds sprouting thru your dirt.,,Restored You and gave you Hope Again...totally relate...Flora...my Favorite thing in this life...and Appreciate you Talking about The Creator...
I so enjoy you always putting God’s word in all you do. Acknowledging him first, you will be so blessed and you seem to always acknowledge him. Always continue to put him first and all will be given to you. Bless you both!

Good luck on the onions! I'm trying onions for the first time and using onion sets from Dixondale Farms - hopefully it works out. This is my second year gardening. I couldn't grow onions from seeds last year.
I love you both! Love your spirit I know it ain’t easy but you doing amazing! I really enjoy the gardening and seeing you both get involved with the gardening journey it’s just so satisfying to watch and inspiring I forgot how much I enjoy gardening and growing vegetables from seed. Even the cats are happy they love your company and follow you everywhere which makes me smile that you incorporate them in the video. I have watched all your videos and find your channel inspiring on so many levels. Be good to each other and most importantly enjoy your hard work together! Hi Gerald the deer was captured 😊. Nice seeing you and Symone again. I’m trying to keep up watching you guys even though I’ve recently moved into my new property. Be blessed and happy seeding.
I am soo proud of you two ❤️ me and my husband have 6 girls and we are looking for land for a homestead! I found your channel and see you two have found a perfect spot it gives me hope😊 keep going 💪🏿 y'all are on the right path!!
In nature it’s called no till farming, where plants/trees rely on their own composted material like leaves, wood, organic matter to naturally breakdown into compost there for feeding the soil microorganisms, fungi and bacteria then they breakdown the raw organic material and in return feeds the trees/plants in the never ending cycle of life. If your interested check it out, it will keep your soil on your land very fertile.
I grew my first successful onions last year, Ailsa Craig! They grew so well, I had them in clusters. They haven't stored very long, almost half of those I have left are sprouting now. But I still loved them, started seeds already, but will also have another variety that should store better. I'm sure you'll be successful with your onions this time! 😊 God bless!
Hey Fam. You guys and your journey have blessed our family tremendously. This is our first year having success growing onion from seed and the key was humidity and warmth. I added a humidity dome and a heat mat to start. Once I saw germination I removed the dome, and once about 1/2 germinated I removed the heat mat. We have about 40 onions right now that I pray make it to and through transplant to maturity. Prayers for your continued success and thank you for sharing with us. God bless you!
I'm the same!! Onions have always let me down!! I recently planted half a seed pack and only 7? sprouted. This time around I used hay to cover the patch. Not sure if that helped anything. But for 7 plants, maybe not worth the effort
The sets? If so, I thought about it a long time ago but saw that they are essentially an expensive gamble. I guess I can’t talk much though since I’ve yet to get more than 5 onions😅
I love how you use the word of God as you talk about your garden. Beautiful
Gotta give credit to original Creator of these concepts! I can’t make up stuff this good!
