BELGRADE (Serbia) - Serbia got their bid to reach next year's FIBA Basketball World Cup back on track with an important 100-94 overtime triumph against Greece in front of a European Qualifiers record crowd of 19,150.
In a battle of two recent back-to-back NBA MVPs, it was Nikola Jokic who prevailed over Giannis Antetokounmpo as bottom beat top to open up Group I in the Second Round - Sport

There is a documentary about the golden generation of Argentina (generación dorada), in which they say that the toughest game was not the semis vs the US, but the quarters vs Greece. A crowd of 18 thousand against them at the O.A.K.A in Athens.
The argentinean fans are known for travelling pretty much anywhere in the world and making a difference in the game. What you likely saw at the FIFA World Cup is their standard when their teams have at least a glimpse of a shot. This is one of the few truly road games I've seen Argentina playing in any sport

I've had such a luck to be there and watch it live, the crowd was so loud that when Jokic scored the Sombor shuffle(3p from one leg) the arena erupted. For me it was the best basketball game so far.

Yannis looked like the Alien from the original Space Jam. This is now an NBA game, this shows you how good is NBA, Yannis benefited so much from the training, nutrition and being part of the NBA, if he stayed in Europe he just wouldn't be this good. Jokic too.

NBA needs to adopt basketball rules, as it used to be. It has by now become a circus. This type of games you cannot merely find them in the NBA. Here the athleticism was way harder, and the game way more intense.

The only defensive play of Jokic on Giannis was at 8:32 and it ended with an airball. Of course Greece was not looking for that matchup. Other way around Giannis cant stop consistently Jokic and that's why Serbia used that play too much over the 4Q and OT.

On average, Giannis is the better defender. On shooting percentage and assists, Jokic is better. Giannis is the better scorer, Jokic the better rebounder. Giannis is more athletic, Jokic has the higher basketball IQ.
It's not that big of a difference as you seem to suggest. Both of them are MVP winners and caliber. There is no one of the two who is "much better" than the other.
And the most important fact: basketball is a team sport. It's not about individuals. Serbia is the better team, that's a fact.
And you can't really judge an individual player based on singular plays. It's like saying Lebron is trash, just because he was posterized once in a game.
Please refrain from this cringy national bragging. We saw an awesome game with two of the best basketball players in the world, and the better team won.
