    One of my all time favorites game shows and games show theme songs. I can remember sitting on my grandma's living room floor eating some corn chips and cookies. Playing with the family German Shepard dogs. Having a blast. I used to get up and dance to the theme music. Being goofy and silly. What good old times.

    I used to get up early and watch cartoons with my brother till he had to go to school. After that cartoons would go off and then it was game shows all morning until midday when Soap Operas would come on. Rod Roddy was the announcer for just about every single gameshow that was on in the morning. If I think back long and hard enough I can picture the old wood console tv with the two brass pull handles on the front. Such a great time growing up in the 80's like that. It actually makes me wish I could go back for just 1 summer and relive all of that again.

    Dick Clark is the King of Pyramid, the late Bill Cullen-The Dean of Game Shows did an awesome job as usual.
    John Davidson and Donny Osmond's had their flaws, but Osmond was a pretty good host, even though I'm not a fan of his.
    His version had too many strict judges and confusing rules and John Davidson was WAY out of place, the best part about the CBS 80's version of Pyramid was the AWESOME 21-21 Tiebreaker for $5000 and of course the 7-11 & Mystery 7 Bonuses as well, God Bless Bob Stewart

    Now I know they have the ABC version, but, if they can do a syndication version, and maybe CBS or an independent could pick it up, here’s how I’d picture it.
    From CBS television city in hollywood, this is the $100000 pyramid! Today’s special guests are: from the new hit station 19, Jaina Lee Ortiz, and from the WWE, Nia Jax! Your host is Todd Newton!

    They should have used this version of the theme for the new Pyramid that Mike Richards hosted on GSN, as a tribute to Dick Clark, I think Dick would have wanted it that way probably. RIP Dick, we sure do miss you.

      From what I'd read, they DID use this music when they were taping the show, but for some reason, they overdubbed all the episodes in post with the theme we heard on the air.

      Tony Bidwell he was always one of my favorite Game show announcers. Energetic, strong delivery, always full of excitement . Miss his voice dearly. IMO in terms of voice style as general voicemen ( both on and off gameshows) go only Larry Kenney (cartoon and commercial voiceman ) comes close. and Jim Thornton is doing a great job, but WOF will never be the same without Charlie O.

    • @HorneATL
      @HorneATL Před 6 lety

      Kelly Entertainment Network Charlie O worked great being teamed with fellow “Bandstand” cohort Dick Clark.
      Johnny Gilbert was - and, even in his 90s, STILL IS - fantastic for announcing this show.
      I’ve always been a fan of Bob Hilton as a style for a game show announcer. Came across a “Pyramid” he announced and loved hearing him belt out “From Television City in Hollywood ...”
      The art of game show announcing is becoming a lost trade.

    I got a chance to see pictures of the set of The New $100,000 Pyramid, The set looks awesome. It's a cross between the 2009 pilot and GSN's "The Pyramid" in 2012. The New $100,000 Pyramid returns to ABC on June 26th.
