    Loved the lining up the pole touch downhill of the heel in the steeps to reduce rotation.

    Great demo of how you let the pole help you in advanced carved turns: letting it drag and bounce as the inclination and angulation progresses enables the skier to feel the proximity of the snow.

    This is the best video for me so far. I’ve got some mistakes to watch like flicking my pole out of my grip. Can’t wait till June! ⛷️❄️🌨️

    Thanks so much for sharing! Would you explain the reason for "avoid letting go the pole with only the thumb and finger"? I feel that it is effortless when I don't need a blocking pole planting or 3rd point support, and it achieves quite arms and upper body.

      It really depends on what you are doing and your skill level, in this video I am trying to get the idea of intention and discipline with the upper body...and how poles can help with that. I don't encourage skiers to relase the bottom of the pole handle encase they extend the arm, this could also cause injury.

    Great video!! Would you have any advice on how to choose the right pole length so that they can be used properly as presented in your video?
    Thank you in advance!

      For poles I would recommend standing in an athletic stance in boots (or without for that matter) and holding the pole under the basket as it's turned upside down. You will notice it will come up shorter than the traditional method of standing up straight and holding the pole under the basket. Hope that helps :-)

    • @JoshuaDuncanSmith

      Lots of practice of staying balanced while skiing in the bumps.

  • @WhirledPeas
    @WhirledPeas Před 6 měsíci

    Poles are indispensable for skiing bumps. I’m surprised Josh didn’t show the proper way to adjust the pole straps so you can reach forward to plant your pole on steep and or bumpy terrain.

    nerally good advice but: I would handcuff that powder blue guy to tame those wild swinging arms. For everyone else try tying your pole straps together for a year or two untill you can ski the direct fall lie while keeping your hands and head rock steady in relation to maintaing a totally quiet upper body: starting at the top of tht e head balancing a full cup of water while you're holding a full tray of boiling hot tea service in your hands to prove the merits of correct hand position and smooth pole plants. Once you get good at that you can practice skiing 360 spins while balancing a pole tip up in top of you palm. An easier transition is to balnace both your poles level across the tops of both wrists without dropping them while skiing in all wide open areas and conditions

    the mantra : down / up / plant / turn .. down / up / plant / turn ...

  • @death2pc

    The majority of skiers improperly use their poles. As well, they're too long.........

  • @anthonysears871

    Way to contrived! Hip dumping. Way to much arms. Heel pushing. It's called skiing. Not poling!!
