    Every Chelsea player used to say he was always the worst trainer (Azpi was the best). Once saw Hazard do the warm up when he was on the bench and he never even bothered to kick a ball once, never moved, never took his hands out of his pockets of his coat. Elite talent, shocking application.

      It's his life.
      We all can wonder what he could have been,. But from his perspective, he played at the highest level, won big trophies, individual accolades, and made incredible money. He was okay with all that without pushing to be the world's best.

    If Hazard had Lampard's work ethic and desire to want to be the best he would definitely be up there with Messi and Ronaldo, but Hazard is Hazard you will never change him, you just have to accept he has incredible talent but doesnt have the desire to be the best, he doesnt care if he never wins the CL or any trophies with Belgium, he has always said the most important thing for him is to just have fun and be happy playing football.

    Jose tried his best to manage Hazard during his time at Chelsea, discipline, hardwork and diets but the wicked media and naive fans said he always fall out with big players.
    Now in madrid, nobody have that time to put you in check if you're not self discipline.

      Even when he was loved at Chelsea when we had great teams with the likes of Costa and Fabregas he still never finished in the top 5 for Ballon Dor. He has so much ability.

      @@therealpvc2541 just because he didn’t finish top 5 for Ballon D’or does not signify his talent or his ability that season. The Ballon D’or has made a lot of wrong decisions in the past, like there’s been players such as Oliver Kahn, Thierry Henry, Sneijder and Ribery who have been robbed in the past of it. Eden was literally our (Chelsea’s) whole attack. In 16/17 his creativity mixed with Diego Costa’s finishing up front was a big benefit in Conte’s system and for us to win the PL title. Also in 18/19 Eden had one of his best seasons, like for Belgium helping them to a World Cup semi final finishing third place and for Chelsea dominating in an attack with the likes of Higuain, Morata, Willian, Pedro, Barkley, but still provided perfectly and left us with a Europa League and finished third. Also got us to a league cup final. His talent is there for sure.

How could you forget 2014/15 that was arguably his best all round season having finished 8th in the ballon dor which was his highest ever position for that award yet he wasnt our whole attack because fabregas and costa were just as pivotal to our title win as eden.

      Naah players like zlatan and ronaldo get satisfaction from other things than love of the game, like proving they can still do it, or reaching certain goals…hazards brain just isn’t wired that way, he just likes to play and have some fun and that has always been enough, until he went to real madrid…i do think he has some pride though and that might finally give him some extra drive to prove himself to the real supporters once he gets out of injury hell.

    Hazard said himself that he'll never be like a Ronaldo or Messi. These two truly want to be the best at any moment they're playing. He said he just doesn't have that mentality that leads you to score 50 to 60 goals a season. Which implies he understands that he has the underlying talent. Kind of a shame but at the same time you can't just snob all those magnificent years he gave us at Chelsea

      That's Hazard, but if he enjoys playing football so much why doesn't he train as hard and do the things other players do so that he could continue playing longer? I don't see him still playing at the age of the likes of Zola, Ronaldo, Ibrahimović etc.
      He also didn't always turn it on in games, there were quite a few that left me frustrated with him, but of course the times he did glosses over those times a fair amount.

I'm ultra laid back, but with something I enjoy I'm all in with the sense of wanting to do my best - with team things you have to at least do the basics if not, what message is that sending the team? When we think back to some really inept performances, where for half the season it was only Willian who looked like he wanted to play for example.

      @@GavP75 Hazard was really consistent for us though, he had one season where he was below par. He contributed to a goal once every 99 minutes or something like that. I get what you’re saying but it’s not like he was a detriment to the team, he carried us plenty of times.

      @@justlooking1087 I have to disagree on him being consistent, he was AWOL plenty of times. However, yes he did carry us a lot which papered over the cracks hiding some of the issues we had. He was a great player for us and I’m not blind to him being kicked out of the game at times.

    And he's saying what we all knew, Eden should've been playing at the level of Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo but he doesn't take things as seriously as they do. Neymar is another one who should have stepped up too. They have it in them.

    I literally met a young player who trained with eden for a couple seasons and he said he would not have the same attitude as the likes of Terry and Lampard who trained like it was there last session whereas he just walked around but could turn it on in a instant and meg all these greats and make it 1-0 so quick

    And that's why now he's nearly 30, he is picking up so many niggling injuries. Since I was 17, I've ran 30KM a week on average over two runs. In my teens, 20's and even until 33-34, I could literally do so without stretches, warmups or warmdowns. But you get to a stage in life where if you don't prepare yourself physically, you will pick up annoying injuries. I went thru a stage where I kept pulling my calf. This was until the doctor asked if I stretch to which I just responded with 'what stretching'? As he's getting close to being 30, he is paying for not getting himself fit in training and trying to use matches to build up fitness. That is all OK whilst you're young, but you can't do that forever.

      He was the most consistent in the Premier League for many years always performing at a high level no one can bash his time there...but now he is struggling probably because of all the mentioned reasons yet no one should forget how incredible he was.

    This video just makes me realize more why I love Eden Hazard. The take away I get from it is he just LOVES FOOTBALL. He doesn't want it to be work, he just loves playing matches, in front of the fans, enjoying the atmosphere, that is where he is so happy and obviously it reflected in his performances. Clearly he didn't care about anything other than that and as Jose said he was a family man and never got caught up in any of the mainstream stuff.

    Anyone blaming Madrid for his problems needs to watch this video. He's underperformed because he doesn't properly prepare himself. He has arrived to two preseasons overweight, and judging by comments from someone who managed him during his most successful years, I doubt that he got his act together on the Madrid training pitch either. He was successful at Chelsea because he was arguably the main guy and he had fun with that holding that status in the team.

    At Chelsea, Hazard knew that the team depended on him more that any other player. That fuelled him.
    At real madrid, he didn't feel that way + la liga is nowhere near the excitement and intensity of EPL.. but most importantly, I'd imagine a manager like Conte would've dealt differently and more serious with Hazard. Zidane just couldn't do anything about it.

    If this..if that…his brain just isn’t wired that way…better to accept it because there is not much you can do about it.
    If you force him to be like ronaldo he’ll lose all love and intrest in the game and that’s not good either because that’s why he plays.
    In belgium we know this from back when he was playing for lille and eating hamburgers during red devil games.
    I’m just glad to see him back on the pitch after those two shitseasons with real…our national team is still better with him than without.

    Tbh Hazard gave me more joy than many so called super professionals and that’s why most fans should switch the TV for. His spontaneity and intuitive play wud have been curbed by too much training imo. Same with Ronaldinho.

    If Hazard considers that not working hard is good for him then so be it, the guy is amazing without training hard, why would he bother ? For guys like him that are really really good and actually deliver on the pitch I don't think it's a problem. I even think that he gets so many injuries at Madrid because the try to make him work harder.

He let those players go with as a result that De Bruyne now is one of the best midfielders in the world and Lukaku one of the best strikers ...
