The sample also appeared in the 1991 cover of Christopher Cross's "Ride Like The Wind" (12" version) by East Side Beat. The sample, however, doesn't appear in a radio version of the same song.
This was the first version of „Snap! - The Power”, which was not released in US due to copyright infringement, because all the samples used were unauthorized. In order for the song to be released in US, it was re-recorded with Turbo B and Penny Ford.
Șerban Păun Dude! I was just trying to remember the dust-up between this and the Snap! Version. I have this 12” and was just discussing the song for use in a burlesque show. Thanks for the mental refresh! I’m getting old. We had Snap! live at ClubLand in Detroit in 1990 and it was part of a taping of MTV Street Party with Downtown Julie Brown
It's the opposite, for fuck's sake, what cancer the internet is. Everyone knows that Chill Rob G was an established rapper and "snap" was an invented name for 2 German engineers. They took an acapella from an existing Chill rob G record and used that, when the tune got big, they had to re-record it with Turbo B who was nobody in Germany and has had no career in rap before or after to speak of. This is Wild Pitch's effort after being ripped off in the first place, if you read about it on discogs you'll see that this version is better liked by musical aficionados because of the 45 King's production, but you wouldn't get that, you're just ignorant internet cancer.
this is basically the answer for all who dont know who made this song first of all...its a snap song they used rap from rob g's song let the words flow first rob g dont like it so they change rapper and lyrics (turbo b) then he realised this song is big and he can make some money here.so rob g try to release the song under his name in the states but failed cause ot was not his song,it was a snap song. so he contact the 2 producers from snap virgo garrett III and benito benites and tehy made a official version under the name "power jam" so this is basically the official version of the song made by snap and rob g
The 2 German Producers Michael Münzing und Luca Anzilotti (later known as Snap) created "The Power" with Raps by Chill Rob G without asking for persmisson for those raps and called it "Powerjam ft Chill Rob G"....Chill Rob wanted to sue them so they Re recorded "The Power" again with raps by Turbo B and additional vocals by Penny Ford to enchance this new version and bought the rights to use the Jocelyn Brown sample "I´ve got the Power" since they didnt do it in the first recording and released it again Worldwide under the name Snap! which Topped the charts Worldwide....this is when Chill Rob G came in again and released basically the Powerjam version of "The Power" himself using Snaps! Idea, first without the Jocelyn Brown line and used a different singer but later bought also the rights of the Sample of Jocelyn Brown....all "The Power" versions /Powerjam/Snap/Chill Rob G are made by Snap!
@@alessandrozara924 You should read my comment again...maybe you not aware that Snap aka PowerJam is a German Producer Duo,the Record you see in the video which says 1990 is a American Release by an American Record Label....it might Shock you but in Germany there are Record Labels too and Snap aka PowerJam released the first version of "The Power" in Germany 1989! @@blue9multimediagroup power jam is the same producer duo as snap was behind.so this song right here is actually from the same dudes.the raps are just from rob g rob g had a problem with that song so they got turbo b and made "snap"
Chill Rob g bars on this was impeccable no offense to snap his lyrics weren't wack for that time being but chills were more ahead of the time like he basically in a nutshell was presenting to you where Rhyming was heading towards future wise even though Rakim ll cool big daddy Kane and Kool g rap were doing the same thing barwise this song was very crossover pop house music so..thats why this version stood out to me and sounds great the way it is 😎

oh but I remember hearing this version played many a night during the live weekend mix show from DV8 here in Houston. Still have the tapes
I love how your version is complicated, but doesn't even scratch the surface of what actually happened, lol.
@@Oscuros Pathetic attitude.
If I were to see Martial Artist Jeff Speakman in person, I'd play this version instead of Snap's remake

The (legal) Reissue of The Power is better in my opinion.
"Better"? They're the same song. The re-issue doesn't sound any different from the original. They sound exactly the same.
