Geoffrey wasnt just the best Barbosa possible, he was the best PIRATE in the films. His performance is how we all imagine pirates actually behaved and talked and even the laugh sounded like the perfect pirate LAUGH.
Modern movie pirates are heavily influenced by Robert Newton's acting, especially his Long John Silver in Disney's Treasure Island from 1950. It was Newton's idea to give the role a Southwestern British accent which has become the Hollywood "pirate talk" ever since. It is not historical. Rush sure did that acting tradition justice, though.
Jack and Hector are rivals. They only trust the other when they have the same goal(killing Blackbeard for example). Barbossa doesn't really like Jack, he would have never started the mutiny if he really likes him 😂
When I was young, Jack was always my favourite character in the series. But now that I am older I have really grown to enjoy Geoffrey Rush’s performance as Barbossa

On Stranger Tides was not worse. Blackbeard was much crueler than Davy Jones. The ending from Stranger Tides and the moment when Jack found the Fountain are the most beautiful scenes I have seen. Jack was very smart in that movie 😂
There's probably some who want him back, I to would like that, but films nowadays tend not to be as good, especially from Live action Disney so probably stays dead this time, he died an honourable man, and that's a good way to go out in my opinion.
Barbossa was originally a villain but in the third movie he wants freedom for pirates though there is an easy way to see his personality change, He was simply in raged with being cursed once lifted he turned himself around and became a better person caring about his crew and even saving his daughter including gaining respect for Jack even though he betrayed him a few times

When Hector died, it felt like a long time friend died to me. Hector was always my absolute favorite character in Pirates of the Caribbean. Only a master class actor like Geoffrey Rush could have made a character like that such a fun character to watch. RIP Captain Barbosa and long live Hector.
A point i wish was brought up more was when he stopd up to his crew while they were all undead, challenging them to fight him for the Captain's spot, and they all backed off. Again, undead. Could have just rushed him, and they all quelled before him.
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have criticized this video for missing the best last-minute entrance ever. It's still my favorite scene of the whole series. Still remember everyone cheering when we saw it in the theaters 🎉

There was a good man underneath his so called black heart. I wonder if losing his family made him that way to begin with… why he became so obsessed with treasure of any kind. Cursed or valuable. He was just a lonely old man searching for his treasure… the one that will make him feel whole.
Barbossa has lived much longer, and is far more experienced, though Jack Sparrow's recklessness is pure genius... As the saying goes: 'Beware of the Old Man, in the profession where men die young'. There werent many old Pirates....
