- How To ADD DRAMA To Landscapes In Lightroom
In this video I’m going to show you 6 Lightroom Techniques to add drama to your landscape photography. Using the tools available in Lightroom, these techniques are quick to use and will take your photos to the next level.
I use these techniques on a lot of my landscape photos and I’ve refined them over many years of experimentation, making them simpler but better. Some of the techniques take advantage of the new masking capabilities in Lightroom, allowing for complex edits done simply.
I am constantly finding new ways to enhance my images, but I regard these 5 techniques as my favourites!

I am so very happy I found you because there are a few that go into detail on masks, like you do. I will be re-watching a few of them. Thank you.
So happy to hear. Thanks so much for the support!
Fabulous! First time I've ever learnt about intersecting masks! Thank you.
I’m glad you found the video useful! Thanks for watching! 😊👍🏻

Hi Andrew, thanks for the comment, appreciate the view!
Definitely managed to learn something, and it's very usable, practical. Useful concepts. Thanks much. E.
I really appreciate the comment, and I’m glad you managed to learn something 😊
Thanks Mark for these helpful tutorials you put together , no matter how experienced one is at photography there is always room to learn something new , I have been at it since 2014 and still learning many simple techniques from photographers like yourself , CZcams has basically taught me mostly what I have learned and it’s free , one just needs to put in the time and effort to improve if there is the passion for it , long hours and many early mornings and late nights but all have been well worth the sacrifice. I will say this , if you love what you do you will always be good at it , doing it for the wrong reasons you loose the passion and the love for the great outdoors and for nature and wildlife . Just been outside with nature is the reward regardless if the shoot was a success or not , for me the most intimidating part of photography was the editing process , I had a fear for it till finally I pushed on and experimented and yes messed up at times but that’s how we all get through life mostly . Great channel you have which is no doubt helpful for many of your viewers . Keep them coming . Stay well . …… Do you host workshops at all , not classroom stuff but locations ?
Thanks so much for the detailed comment. I don’t host any workshops at the moment, but I’m hoping to launch some in 2025.
Thanks Mark - most informative!
My pleasure, thanks for watching and for the comment Johan!

Hi Sean, thanks so much for the comment. I hope you managed to learn something!
Wonderful tips. Thanks.
Thanks for commenting and glad you found the tips useful.
super tuto. I learnt a lot. I usually make basic retouching in LRC and switch to ON1 or NEO for artistic effects but now will try to remain more inside LRC
Thanks for commenting Marc. I’ve never tried On1 or NEO but I’m happy with the results I get inside Lightroom. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques.
Awesome tips, thank you 😊
Thanks for the feedback, hope you found them helpful 😊

Thanks a lot for watching Suhail. Appreciate it!
Awesome tips, thanks for sharing. Definitely learned some new tips. My favourite one was where you can intersect the linear gradient with the sky selection.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting Mouritz. I’m glad you found the tutorial helpful. I love the ability to intersect selections, really is a great tool!
Brill 👍🏻

Another really knowledgeable and engaging presentation! Thanks!
Thank you 😊 it’s great to hear from you again.
Thanks so much Mark. I am tying to learn landscape..... struggling a bit re the light. How about Panaramas HDR...... am trying that at the moment.
Hi Carol, thanks for the comment. I have some new videos coming soon that will cover panoramas and hdr.
Thanks Mark, depending on the type of landscape, adding DRAMA does make a big difference.
Thanks for the comment Ettienne! Appreciate it.
@@MarkDumbleton Maybe think of doing a next level tutorial on B&W landscape editing in LR. The fact that you bring in slight colour tones is fascinating, could have some surprising results in desert landscapes especially.
Excellent idea, thanks for the that. I do a fair amount of B&W processing on landscapes and it definitely has a great effect!
Exellent video, I am an old user of Lightroom and I watched so many tutorials about different techniques in Lr, but the best one is through real examples just like you do! Grats man for that approach. 👌
Appreciate the comment, thanks for watching :)
Very useful
I’m glad you found some use from this tutorial here. Thanks for letting me know.
Are you editing RAW images?
Hi Peter, yes I only edit on RAW images. There is just so much you can do with that RAW data.
