One time, back in 1984, they performed at our high school lunch jam and this was about the same time that this song had dropped and this song was the hottest joint in the scene at the time. All I can remember is that thewhole gym auditorium went nuts and everybody was dancing doing the "Freak" and the "Nasty". Eventually down the line, somehow and some way, me and Rudy Pardee would eventually become good friends and over time he even invited me to his house in the San Fernando valley (I think it was in Sherman Oaks, Studio City or in Encino) for a small intimate birthday party with only a handful of people there and we had a damn good time. Eventually, down the line of time, I was shocked to discover that Rudy had passed away from a Scuba diving accident, on August 30, 1998. May he forever R.I.P. and never be forgotten. He was a super cool dude that I personally knew. Rest in peace my brotha Rudy.
Yes- buy they will think it is old Jay Z... God help us all The Friday Night High School Football games when the band used to rock this. absolutely sick.... Mind blowing is an understatement.
West Coast Old Skool Rap - L.A. in the house - rocking as usual. Central Ave, Avalon Blvd, San Pedro St, Main Street, Broadway, Figueroa St, Hoover St, Vermont Ave, Normandie Ave, Western Ave, Van Ness, Crenshaw Blvd, LaBrea Ave and it stops there. East Side to West Side - South-Central L.A. Watts Inglewood Gardena, Baldwin Hills, etc.
My mom's favorite song. My mom couldn't believe it when she found out the Dream Team lived right across the street from her in LA at the time. She saw them on the street one day with their equipment walking from their apartment complex and she said to my dad, "That's the Dream Team! There they are!"😉
Two Members unfortunately are dead. Vocalist Lisa "Love" Rodriguez died in an automobile accident in April 1987 while in Baja California. She was only 26 years old. Founder Rudy Pardee drowned while on vacation in Aruba Island South America in July 1998. He was 40.
I cannot help but see your name and think you have some association with the 808 state? Shooshi Moosoobi=sushi musubi... and yes rocking L.A. Dream Team November 2020!!!
Funny thing is I hadn't heard this song until I was 15 (10 when it came out) and by that time I was going to parties; chillin with my homegirls and getting into clubs/bars we shouldn't have been able to. But this definitely brought back some good memories; dancing, having a bad ass time. Of course, that is so opposite of me now .... but I still trip out on the music that molded our formative years.
Being from the East Coast, didn't like that the Radio Stations didn't show the west coast any love and play these songs when they were banging in the 80's. Thank God for CZcams where i can enjoy some of songs from the Pioneers from the west coast. ❤
My Dad was a teenager when hip hop first hit in the 80’s, this is how he introduced me to hip hop. Some of y’all hate on people that only listen to hip hop, but I was literally raised on it, this is all I know lol
Hahaha! The guys loved it when we girls would start the song off. This was out in 84 or 85 I think. I was a freshman in high school. The days of real socializing and beat boxes and lots of parties and cruising. Those were some fun times! Love my 80's!! "jam, jam, jam- jam!
Can't say enough joy this song brings except today while driving this song kicked on. Even on a nice hot az this shit had me hoping out my truck and putting down while waiting for the light to change. 💯🕺🏼🏌🏾 now if I can find one of these💃 talk about a real hallmark movie
That was back in 1986 im. 41 years old from New Orleans Im still old school till this day i don’t do the new school music. Im like Tom Joyner and sinbad I’m not get out the 80s
Memories from when I was 12 years old ( six grade ) @ 107th Street School, Los Angeles, CA. 90003. The L.A. Dream team went to our school and performed for all of us at the school's auditorium . Back in 1982. Good Memories.
Sorry Hommie, I was in six grade, L.A. Dream team went and perform at our school. How are you going to tell me that they did not perform??? Maybe the song was NOT released, but we were the first.... Thanks anyways brotha...
Martin Chavez According to Wikipedia, the group was founded by members Chris Wilson and Rudy Pardee in *1984* so, your claim of the year that they came to perform at your school is off base because they were not even in existence yet in the year that you've stated as such. So, make sure you have an accurate account of history before you make such bogus statements because it only makes you look silly in the end. I'm just saying.
Sorry Brother but how the HEC are going to tell me what I saw or DIDN'T see. If you were NOT there, then YOU should NOT comment. As far as I know, maybe the L.A Dream Team were practicing ... I careless about your comment. What matters is that I saw them perform at my elementary. Maybe it's a good Idea if you research further in, call and retrieve OLD school records. LOL.
I remember in the Olympics games in Barcelona the US basketball team getting off the bus and they started playing this song .. magic Johnson...Larry bird ..Michael Jordan...pippen..all the best of the best good old days

Martin Chavez I think your historic calculations is a little off base there, because this song was recorded and released in 1985 not '82.
Sorry Hommie, I was in six grade, L.A. Dream team went and perform at our school. How are you going to tell me that they did not perform??? Maybe the song was NOT released, but we were the first.... Thanks anyways brotha...
