Mazepin is proof that F1 doesn't have the 20 best drivers, but he's far from the only thing that's wrong there. Is Bottas one of the 20 best of the world? No. Is Schumacher now at the highest level? No. Is Tsunoda capable of beating everyone outside F1? No. There's amazing talents that didn't choose open-wheel cars or didn't make it because lack of money. And don't pretend F1 is the moral high ground of motorsport either just to throw a jab at Mazepin. We get a bunch of countries that go against F1's dogmas buying F1's endorsement, and drivers that claim support for A and going along with B, the same PR farce, because money go way back, and there's old news as well. A lot of people in this community, even creators are acting like superior to Mazepin and I don't get it.
I expect Lando and Gasly to be paid much much more next year. They've been performing extremely well so far.
You'd hope so
Gasly had his chance and didn’t perform. This sport is too expensive for 2nd chances but Lando may likely get a big raise if the contract isn’t concluded for next year already. Lando’s teammate highly overpaid for his performance so far tho. Lando may get Daniel’s check next year if the team gets out of the contract with the low performing dude.

Kimi got paid 1 million a week when he was in ferrari before he got sacked early but got half of his contract doing nothing.

It's a massive amount of money, even for a lifetime
Compare to verstappen and alonso, hamilton is being massively underpaid. Wtf?
How do you pay a 7 time wdc champion the same as a guy with like 6-9 race wins?
@@gamalsankara1388 I mean that’s not really a fair comparison. If Verstappen or Alonso were in a Mercedes they would probably have as many wins, or nearly as many wins as Hamilton has. It’s about how well the drivers do with the car they’re given. So Hamilton only making 5 million more that Verstappen is reasonable.
@@decentish8546 how do you know that? And why isn’t bottas atleast a wdc?
The best drivers should drive the best cars and they should be paid the best.
$5m is what separates max and lewis? One guy is arguably the greatest driver of all time and has broken damn near all the records and is being paid the same as a guy with less than 10 wins and no wdc?
How does your argument make sense?
@@gamalsankara1388 you kinda forgot that Hamilton and Verstappen are not being paid by the same team, so your comparison doesn't make so much sense (albeit I get your point). Verstappen is being paid so highly because Red Bull sees him as the driver that has the most chance to beat Mercedes and Hamilton. And to avoid him being signed by Mercedes, which would be a very strong pair

I personally thought they would earn a bit more. Considering the amount of seats there are I think each one of these guys should be over 20m in salary.
Yeh it's all about what the teams mate etc
I don't really understand that logic. If there are relatively few seats compared to the amount of drivers, the hiring party should have a favorable position. "So you want 10.000.000? I guess we'll take one of the other 30 drivers begging to get a seat in F1". Actually loads of drivers in F1 only get a seat because the bring in there own sponsors, so effectively they had to 'earn' their own salary. Only the top of the drivers can get a seat just on their driving skills alone.
@@florisbackx1744 They do not have this power exactly because of the driver economic value. They need them to pay them to survive.
@@florisbackx1744 for a team that is serious about competing they cant afford to take the other 30 drivers begging to get a seat because you cant depend on them on a whole season compared to an experienced driver , for example take Max he is getting paid so much not because red bull doesnt have any junior drivers they have a ton of them , yet nobody would be able to perform like Max as of the moment , if you were to look at this season had Max gone off to another team red bull would have no chance of a title fight , they pay them so much because they need them no matter how good of a car the teams develop without a driver to extract the best out of the car you cant win or get good results.
you're forgetting how much money f1 teams spend compared to for example, footbal teams. before the cost cap you had mercedes spend around 400M a year. now 145M with the budget cap. considering how much they spend salaries cant be exhorbitantly high.
also covid brought the salaries down like if most sports.

Good explanation.

I believe F1 drivers are so underpaid in comparison to footballers. There is far greater risk and health conditioning involved in F1 than football. These guys are literally risking their lives in the motorsport. As for footballers, their risk is far less. Broken leg, arm, etc. I love both sports, but I feel that F1 drivers should make more than footballers.
Well it's all about how much drivers bring in at the end of the day
running costs in football are much lower, teams spend over 150 million a year and the barrier to enter the sport is 200m. I also think it is ridiculous how little they get paid especially with how much they risk every race weekend but the reality is that f1 is a business and these teams invest so much money already that only the top stars can discuss more money in their contracts. Also being so exclusive I think most drivers are just happy they can race and do what they love, they already have fuck you money and their families have millions to be able to support the drivers at a young age.
I heard people are whining because son heung min (footballer at Tottenham Hotspur) is underpaid at 95000 pounds
A week
You also need to realise that football is a MUCH bigger sport internationally compared to F1. So they bring in much more money.
People who say things like these usually don't even know how football players are being paid. They only see the numbers of the players when the big names get bought by a new club, what they fail to realize is that these numbers don't go to the player.
Ricciardo had a very large salary at Renault in 2019/20 aswell. I don’t remember, but according to google it was somewhere in the 40s (which makes since as he was arguably one of the top drivers at the time of his departure from RB)
I may be wrong but I think it was something like 25
I don't think Daniel was getting 40 million at Renault. Even Alonso didn't get that amount at Renault.
Man these videos are top notch quality! Keep it up

lando should get atleast 10 million
Absolutely
I humbly disagree to the statement "the best drivers in the world are in f1", for MOST of these drivers they had to shell out MILLIONS of dollars to get into the sport, if it wasn't about money, we could really push the sport

I have questions about where the money comes from and where it goes. Are drivers required to pay their own expenses traveling to and from races? Do they pay trainers, physio, doctors, chauffeurs, butlers, housekeepers, agents etc. out of pocket? How much tax do they pay and to whom? For example, if MAX gets 25 million, how much does he keep? And I have many more questions. but that's enough for now.
In all honesty I don't know 100%, I can assume something but I don't want to tell you something that is wrong 👍
The money comes from the team they race for, usally its big name brands so they have the money no problem. Both redbull and mercedes for example are so big that the money they pay there drivers are pocket change for them. Im pretty sure at home drivers pay for most things out of pocket but when it comes to training for driving and traveling to and from races there teams probably pay for most of it. Buterls housekeepers etc they for sure pay out of there own pocket as that is not something that is needed and its the drivers own choice if they want that type of luxury. They pay taxes to the country they are based in and how much depends on how they receive it. To they have a buisness set up or any other of the many ways to lower taxes. Otherwise they will just pay the regular income tax of there own country, f1 has no control over that. But lets say max gets 25 million. He probably has very expensive financial advisors who tell him how to place his money so maybe he pays max 15% tax on that. Cant be sure tho since im not to familiar with how the netherlands do there taxes so it might be more. a
I will be on this list one day
Looking forward to seeing it!
