@@TheRacingPilot I know it's that "haha funny joke Mazepin bullying mob go brrr", but you could use more common sense. Mazepin is proof that F1 doesn't have the 20 best drivers, but he's far from the only thing that's wrong there. Is Bottas one of the 20 best of the world? No. Is Schumacher now at the highest level? No. Is Tsunoda capable of beating everyone outside F1? No. There's amazing talents that didn't choose open-wheel cars or didn't make it because lack of money. And don't pretend F1 is the moral high ground of motorsport either just to throw a jab at Mazepin. We get a bunch of countries that go against F1's dogmas buying F1's endorsement, and drivers that claim support for A and going along with B, the same PR farce, because money go way back, and there's old news as well. Balestre helped Prost in winning a title against Senna, and only admitted it after Senna passed away. A lot of people in this community, even creators are acting like superior to Mazepin and I don't get it.

I guess we'll take one of the other 30 drivers begging to get a seat in F1". Actually loads of drivers in F1 only get a seat because the bring in there own sponsors, so effectively they had to 'earn' their own salary. Only the top of the drivers can get a seat just on their driving skills alone.

I believe F1 drivers are so underpaid in comparison to footballers. There is far greater risk and health conditioning involved in F1 than football. running costs in football are much lower, teams spend over 150 million a year and the barrier to enter the sport is 200m. I also think it is ridiculous how little they get paid especially with how much they risk every race weekend but the reality is that f1 is a business and these teams invest so much money already that only the top stars can discuss more money in their contracts. Also being so exclusive I think most drivers are just happy they can race and do what they love, they already have fuck you money and their families have millions to be able to support the drivers at a young age.

Both redbull and mercedes for example are so big that the money they pay there drivers are pocket change for them. Im pretty sure at home drivers pay for most things out of pocket but when it comes to training for driving and traveling to and from races there teams probably pay for most of it. Buterls housekeepers etc they for sure pay out of there own pocket as that is not something that is needed and its the drivers own choice if they want that type of luxury. They pay taxes to the country they are based in and how much depends on how they receive it. To they have a buisness set up or any other of the many ways to lower taxes. Otherwise they will just pay the regular income tax of there own country, f1 has no control over that. But lets say max gets 25 million. He probably has very expensive financial advisors who tell him how to place his money so maybe he pays max 15% tax on that. Cant be sure tho since im not to familiar with how the netherlands do there taxes so it might be more. a
