    I tig weld on a daily basis , I’ve heard and seen everyone that thinks or says there welds are so slick it’ll fall off the metal lmfao , I’m a pressure welder for gas skids/ boiler openings/doors , I do fine , but I’ll say this , when I first saw this channel about 3 days ago I was like good on you man , I love people that try to share the knowledge and skills in this profession

    Thank you so much for your videos!
    Im 40 years old lady, who just graduated as a welder last year (coz I got bored at my previous job, staring at a screen all days, and wanted to do something with my hands - I had never ever welded before, but -hey, what else would one want to become when they grow up than a welder?! just weird it took me almost 40 years to realize that!).
    Now I full time tigitigitigitigi aluminium and stainless. Extremely challenging work - but I am sooooooo determined to master this stuff and your videos are giving lot of great tips!
    So really thank you so much and greeting from Finland.

I nailed the easier exercises suprisingly just off the stuff I learned from trying to learn the fillet. Im about a month out from starting and my new biggest struggle is this job at work that's cylinder attached to a baseplate. But I can tell all I need is more hood time. In this video, you mention difficulty in seeing the weld line, and it made me recall the moment I realized I simply could not see my weld line because of the bright, whitish light drowning it out, and the subsequent need for a darker lens - which exacerbated the problem. Well, I discovered . . . the Gold Lens. Now, with a gold lens, my weld puddles are a very visible, reddish hue that allows me to see everything really clear. I had to throw away my instant on helmet and go to a standard flip helmet that would house the gold lens. I recently acquired a newer helmet, one with a much larger lens area, and discovered I could buy a gold lens that would fit - YAY!

    Hey man! I've been welding for 3 years now. Found your channel a little less than a year ago. Your artwork attracted me. I rarely watch welding how-to videos anymore. I learned how to TIG weld from the fabrication series and Jody from welding tips and tricks. I really only watched the basics and the rest was self taught. I like using logic and common sense to teach myself something and THEN watch videos and read to see if I did it right. It's kind of a personal challenge I always give myself when learning something new. That's why I love your how-to videos! You're such a master at your craft I hold your methods and perspectives in higher regard that I might others. So when I see a video like this and realize I've been doing everything right, I'm stoked!

    I’m not a welder but I’m a curious type so I have a question that perhaps someone here will answer. When making a pass and reaching a tack weld, do you simply jump over the tack and keep going or are you making the tack molten again and blending it into the pass your making? And is this the reason why it’s so important to make the tack welds symmetrical?
    Thanks for any answers 🙏🏻
    Really enjoying this channel btw

    • @waynegroves6922
      @waynegroves6922 Před 2 lety

      I tend to go over the tack at a slightly faster rate than before or after. This way, I don't deposit as much on top of the tack, and don't disturb the tack's integrity. If done correctly, you can't tell where the tack was.

    • @dangerous8333

      @@waynegroves6922 What would you be depositing on the top if you aren't adding filler material? Which you shouldn't need too if you're going over a tack and the tack was done properly. Also not sure how you're affecting the integrity unless you're blowing a hole through it.
      I go over my tacks at the same speed I'm welding.
