- In our series, A More Perfect Union, we aim to show that what unites us as Americans is far stronger than what divides us. Henry Musoma, a professor at Texas A&M University, is teaching his students not just through lectures, but also through actions. Omar Villafranca reports.

"Daddy, I love that you're kind."...I'm a puddle of tears, no doubt about it!
Yes, that brought such Joy, the ole saying "from the mouth of babes"
Mlle Jacques it got me straight to the feels man 🥺😫❤️
That kid is learning good lessons early on.
Oh this was so sweet!
👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
It doesn’t cost a thing to be kind... Pass it on!
Exactly!!! What a beautiful thing! And yet with kindness one almost always gets a wonderful return! Have a very Happy New Year!
Actually, it does cost something. But, so does selfishness. There is no such thing as free. So, what is better? Kindness or selfishness?
Sometimes it cost a lot even if you don't count time and energy. But kindness has its rewards -- they are not always visible.
Tell trump ! ..............
So you say trump does NOT have to be ? ...............
He dresses fly AF
Seriously. That is one sharp looking dude!
First thought your comment was stupid, until I watched this. He does.
Kristyl Robinson 🔥🔥🔥 he killing it
Even as a little boy did you see that pic lol, flossin
but baby why...??
This man appreciates the blessings the rest of us in the US take for granted.
Bill Olsen Some take for granted.
The "rest of us" is quite egregious, but indeed it is difficult to imagine some hardships by simply being born here.
Exactly why migrants should be embraced
@@Ramiiyah Yup, antagonism against migrants is on another high here in Europe too. "Go back to your country" is in again. Or "Geh zurück von wo Du her kommst". You can't win a debate with that point
We Zambians are generally a kind and helpful bunch, always a ready smile for a stranger. That's just us.
Yes we are nice 👍🏿
That’s what people truly need KINDNESS
"Inside Zambia’s Horrifying Persecution of ‘Witches’
Filmmaker Rungano Nyoni’s striking debut, ‘I Am Not a Witch,’ explores Zambia’s misogynistic treatment of “witches.” And it’s the U.K. entry for the Best Foreign Film Oscar.
"
chachine
Emcstea That is not true you have probably never meet a Nigerian I have spent months in Nigeria and they are the kindest people I have ever met.
The baby part....This happened to me when I was raising my now 26-YO at Central Michigan University! Wow. My son’s HeadStart was closed on a day that I had a Biology lecture (an hour and a half class). I had to bring my son who was 3 at the time. Dr. Margaret Bowker walked up to me after class and empathized. Her words to me have never left my soul...”Young lady your son was amazing...he didn’t say A WORD. I don’t know how you kept him occupied, but if you have to bring him again due to unforeseen circumstances, you feel free.” She has no clue how she made me feel that day. God is so good.
Ja-Relle Elaine God is good and so are you. I applaud you for not missing class and taking the challenge head on. Being in school as a mother is hard enough. I’m glad that teacher chose to be compassionate and encouraging.
Ja-Relle Elaine it really is amazing how positive reinforcement and praise can make all the difference.
From a alumni, FIRE UP CHIPS!
Those African summer suits with the short sleeves. Every father in corporate 😂
Mmala Mokone lol I was wondering what that was looks dope for the Texas heat
@@smokeylebear1062 He definitely wears it well.
In Kenya we call them Kaunda suits after Kenneth Kaunda, former President of Zambia because he used to wear them quite a lot
Man, usually the African professors are tough. My writing Instructor Enock Aloo was Kenyan, and he was a hard grader, made you work really hard. He would tell us, "just because I speak with an accent, doesn't mean I think with one" when he wasn't satisfied with the quality of our work. I learned a lot of course, but boy was he tough.
Suni Sam 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that’s a funny guy
Proudly Kenyan
Sounds like a good professor. It's the harsh but fair teachers that teach you the most.
Kenyan n happy
Man Kenyan professors are tough esp those from the Luo tribe( Obama's tribe). The are the Academicians of Kenya. They love books
Daddy: I love that you're kind.
THIS IS A REAL MAN.
I LOVE THIS STORY. THE LITTLE BOY'S COMMENT TO HIS DAD IS SO REFRESHING. YES PARENTS, WE OFFSPRING ARE ALWAYS WATCHUNG YOU. MANY BLESSINGS
As a former classmate of Henry from way back in Kitwe, Zambia 1994, I'm inspired & encouraged to see how God has used him to inspire countless lives. So proud of you Henry & God's blessing on you & your family as you continue this noble work
Awesome!!! 😄
...AND he has perfect teeth.
I mean, he's black so that's pretty much expected haha
@@Basketballerphx most African people I know have good teeth
@@TheSuperbeauty24 Read my comment again.
His name Musoma, supersedes him. Musoma...Soma( means to read/ education in Swahili)
In my language it means Salutations
And musoma means the one who reads. In full mtu wa kusoma.
Even in Uganda most bantu languages use the word Kusoma to mean read or study and as a name Musoma or Kasoma it means someone who is studious. His name in English is Mr Studious. I am impressed with him and may God continue to bless him.
So basically parallel with the English last name of "Reader" or "Student."
As a Zambian and an educator, I am proud of him.
🇿🇲👏
All humanity is not lost
Never was close to being after WWII.
this is one beautiful story
His legacy will go on thru generations -- with his own son continuing it by being able to recognize kindness!!! That made me cry!!!!
this is the American Dream, a country built by immigrants with a dream should always welcome others to do the same
This is the kind of teacher you can only dream of for your child. Amazing.
Such an incredible man!! He's such a great example for not only his own son, but for the many students and faculty that are lucky enough to get to meet and hear him! Thank you so much for sharing this great story with us!
so glad to hear something positive
Tears 😭 this is so touching. I love that he was holding the baby as he taught
Another immigrant success story. We need to stop villifying all immigrants. We may look different on the outside, but on the inside we are really all the same. We all need a chance to succeed. We all need kindness. We all need love.
@Bob Taint Native Americans and Native Hawaiians are the only people who SHOULD be here. Everybody has come uninvited or as forced labor. End of story. Just think if someone had shut the door on Trump's grandfather (from Germany) where we might be today.
@Bob Taint Is that all you have? Instead of actually replying to my comment to you.
Literally all of us other than a rare handful of Native Americans, are or have come from, immigrants. It's crazy how ignorance can breed heavy fear in so many people even with this fact.
Yes, Native Americans were here first but when this country was founded by the Europeans, they created laws that had to be followed in order to protect our countrymen and our country, and one of them was you must be legal in order to be a citizen. It's not an issue to come to our country as an illegal immigrant but you can't stay forever as an illegal. You have to eventually return to your country if you are illegal. If you are an illegal immigrant coming into this country because you want to live here forever, again, no problem at all, as long as you take the necessary steps to become legal. Nothing wrong with legal immigrants at all! It's when they come here illegally and stay long term that there's a problem. There are many issues but one of the most serious is that we don't know what their intentions are, and if they are already breaking laws, and not paying taxes, that poses as a threat to our country, not to mention the fact that traders can come into our country and pose as immigrants while plotting harm. This has happened many times already and illegal immigrants have killed innocent Americans because of it. And then, when they come in droves it poses even more of a threat. Every other country has extremely strict laws about immigrants and illegals. Every other country has stolen land from each other when they were not previously the rightful owners. The u.s. is not the only country who has done that but we are the only country who is vilified for it by our own people because there is an agenda to weaken us. Many countries would have your neck on a platter or put you in prison for life for coming into their country illegally. we are one of the only countries that allows illegals to come in here without doing necessary checkups and it will eventually be the death of us. every other country out there knows better than to do something as foolish as what we are doing to ourselves. Our country is far too lack on illegal immigrants and it's putting us at serious risk. Everything may look fine on the surface but when you have people that don't belong here entering freely on the daily, things could be brewing under the surface that we are completely unaware of because we aren't taking any precaution for ourselves.
@@GameChanger597 did you know that the native Americans were never considered Americans, even though they are indigenous to north America? Did you know that native Americans were considered illegals on their own soil, in their own land? Did you know that most of the native Americans endured a great holocaust because they were seen as threatening?
This man........ huh, is what the world should be made of! You can see the kindness in his heart! He loves what he does and no matter who comes in his life, he loves them like family! You sir are a great man!
That man looks like he’s never had a bad day in his life, always smiling and engaged with his classroom.
“Daddy I love that you’re kind! If that’s what my son says of me, I’ll rest in peace “ 🥺💖😢
Need more people like him. The world will be a much better place
I can’t leave this page without saying that Zambians are beautiful people. Every single Zambian I’ve met and known (quite a few) are warm, generous, and kind.
We need more teachers like this!Awesome
Wow. This was so beautiful! I LOVE these segments on CBS... I have an extreme distaste for corporate news in general, but these little snippets are awesome and defy all that is "wrong" in our world today, by shining a light on what is right!
Dr Henry Musoma thank you for all the good things that you are doing for your students , and may you continue to shine the light for all to see .
Great example of humankind this is how we all should be
Amen!🙏💘💘✌🍀🌞❤❤
I love how he has the personality of a showbusiness but the heart of an angel
what an amazing man he is! so kind and sweet
Okay-- I immediately need to watch this again and again! I can well remember the Professor who made a profound difference in my life! She admitted me into nursing school, and because of her I am now a PhD Nurse Practitioner and a Professor. Thank you Dr. Helen Dunn, rest peacefully. And Dr. Dunn-- I paid your kindness forward to one of my students. And he will pay it forward. Kindness is so easy, yet the results are so remarkably profound! 💕
This man is the embodiment of what makes America great...
Wow. This is what america was found on. What goodness and kindness this one man has for his fellow man. Kindness goes a long way. It is a domino effect. It grows and grows. What a wonderful world it can be with people like him and my husband.
Its humble people like this man that make me proud to be Zambian🇿🇲. Continue spreading the kindness
As boys and young men, we can often confuse caring and kindness in ourselves as weakness!
And as boys and young men, we don't want to be considered weak!
It took to my mid 20's to realize that my caring, kindness and compassion for others were actually great strengths!
Simply put, it's nice to be nice...
A lesson for all. What an amazing man. I’m glad there are people like him out in our world. I bet his classes are filled immediately.
Human Kindness. He’s a great example to all.
LOVE THIS STORY, THANK YOU!!!!
These are the kind of people we really need in our country
We need more teachers, and professors like this!
He is the kind of person we cherish the most in society🌸
I like his short-sleeved suit.
Style is indeed on point.
Teachers make a difference. Good people make a good difference.
He was born to be a teacher for sure! The best of them!
If everyone understood how much one tiny tiny tiny act of kindness could completely alter someones life...this world be a different place
Wow that's a beautiful story. Being kind pass it on. The world needs it now and a lot more. What a wonderful professor. kudos !
Just goes to show you how an act of kindness goes so far. God Bless you professor and all that have touched your life.
He has that spirit that genuinely is beautiful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 godbless
The teacher looks great with that baby on his shoulder. 💛👶🏼
I was in CVS once a few years ago and one of the attendants there accidentally dropped something in the aisle. Without thinking, I just bent over to pick it up. He said "Wow, most people wouldn't bother to do that. Thanks!"
I wasn't looking for accolades or recognition for doing it, but his response made me think. It's good that he recognized a charitable act, but not so good that it was rare enough for him to comment on it.
I'm glad I made his moment, but why should kindness take anyone by surprise? It feels good to give and receive it - everyone wins. It should be commonplace, and I think humanity is heading that direction.
Compare kindness with argumentative rudeness and indignation. They are worlds apart, and only one of those helps to create worlds.
Be kind.
Generosity, kindness, and love, changes the world!! BEAUTIFUL story!!♥️
Humanity at its Best
“Daddy, I love that you’re kind...” I’m just 😭 oh wow the feels!
College needs more of this. 💜🙏 God bless him.
He is a great man.

Goes to show how far just a little bit of kindness can go...
Kindness is contagious,,awesome gentleman
What a great man!
This is what i want to see and read about black men. Educated, dignified and respected. Such a positive out look on a low exception on black male in America. 👏👏👏👏. Well done dr Musoma you've made me proud with your graciousness, elegance and kind heart. Thank you.❤
He will be blessed his entire life....the seeds you plant are the ones you reap...God Bless you professor.
What a inspirational story.God bless him
He has a Great voice, cheerful attitude and a passion to learn and help others learn. If that's not enough to make a Great Professor then I don't know what is
i just can't get enough watching ,watching, again ,again.
remember teacher are for life. that's what my mom use to always said .
Wow God bless you Big bro,, Africans are proud of you
Amazing man! Key takeaway? Kindness to your fellow man. A father that his kids can look up to and learn from his example.

This man deserves the world

There is nothing like real kindness
Tears on my eyes for happiness to see so much kindnes, and I wish everyone of us would be like that man, and if we all are like him what wrong would happened! I am optimistic about our society nowadays..but we as an American we are not doing well, if you know what I am talking about! Please GOD, have mercy on us,✌💜
Now he's a role model young black men can look up to !
White men too. Girls and women too.
He's just a role model for how to be a kind and strong person.
Garden Joy , You are so right , we all can take a lesson
@@gardenjoy5223 I got in to key in my comment and found you had written it already, exactly as was in my head.. Geeze.
And Dr. Musoma, you are a role model for all , all around the world,
Much Respect for you, from India
@@gardenjoy5223 Yeah, but especially for those who look like him, and may not see people that look like themselves doing great things every day.
Musoma means to teach /educate in Swahili . Africans speak their hopes and dreams into the names of their children . That is why many Africans aspire for excellence. P.S That short sleeved suit he is wearing is called the “Kaunda” suit made popular by the legendary former president Dr. Keneth Kaunda who led Zambia to and after independence. Viva Africa . Beautiful kindness.
You educate a child, you educate a community. 😍
Beautiful human. I wish he was my professor. 😢😢😢😢
What a wonderful gift for your son to say "I love that your kind".
Well these things r wat made America great..👌 luv frm India
Amazing man! What a legacy! The world needs more Henrys.
Wow what a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it. Yes kindness cost us nothing.
Precious
This was a recommendation and I'm glad I saw it. That moment of silence from a very vocal man speaks more than any word he could have said at that moment. I'm glad he was reconnected to family.
Love these kind of stories. I wish I had a teacher like him.
Beautiful! Best gift you can always give!🥰😍🌈♥️💞💯🙏🏻
He is definitely a Gem 💎❤️ your amazing Professor ❤️ I hope he’s there when my daughter gets ready for college 🙏🏽
See how much nicer the world is with kindness shown to each other. This world could be so much better for all of us to live in and you know what it really does not take much effort. Henry you are an inspirational man.
This man is my inspiration. I hope and pray that I can have a big heart and soul like him.
What a wonderful story I love all the positivity and loving people
Wow a life of kindness I'm glad that you're kind.
Its better to be kind than to be right is what my Mom taught me and almost always this is true.
He's not only cute., he's also kind. Waoooh!!! You melt my heart🌹😍
Beautiful human being
African professors are the best. My favorite professor in university was from Gambia who taught African history. I was always a European history guy, but he made me love learning about African history too.
Being human to everyone, is humanity in itself, great story.
Absolutely beautiful story! I had smiles and tears and it's just amazing!! "Daddy I love that you're kind " yep, I lost it!😩
Welcome to America we're lucky and proud to have you.
