Thanks Robert , it’s been very trying I won’t lie , it’s not a position we are used to finding ourselves in , but as I e said in previous videos total transparency is the only way to do videos like these . Ps where not 100% sure if we send this week or not , but with 8-10 birds only for the race I might wait and see if the video is worth posting if we race , then I plan on showing the channel race but that’s another race where I’m sure many fanciers won’t get any home but pressure off for us as I don’t think it makes much difference if they return or not 🤣
Its been a strange year for pigeon racing across the country and including Northern Ireland. It does knock you back when you have good pigeons missing for whatever reason. You have the young bird season coming up and i hope things improve with them. Love watching your videos every week chin up cheers.

Ah mate it’s bad , not many birds away this time of the season mate , example we only have 8 for next week if we bother racing as it’s crazy going 240 miles for the 2nd last race of the season , it’s borderline cruelty after the year they have had , we are in 2 minds to send or not , only about 400 in the entire fed this weekend whereas start of season between 1200-1500, I think in the entire section maybe 1500 where start of year between 4000-6000 so it tells it’s own story mate

There is guys at the front of our combine doing 2300ypm, and where hearing horrific loses in the combine , ourselves only 2 to come , but there is something not right in this sport at the moment , ybs u expect this but not old birds ?
What do your birds perform best at head winds or tail winds. I used to like head winds i think there more reliable than tail winds. They used to say you can get a paper bag back from a tail wind. What do you reckon mate 🤔
We would take a straight north every week if we could Eddie , I agree with you that head winds sort out the good from the bad , we haven’t had a straight wind this season , east for the first 9 races I believe and now it’s switched to west 🤦♂️
Do you take any regards to eyesign. As i got more involved in it I found it very fascinated by it. I brought books about it. And try to study it and got right involved. Until one day this Mealy pied squeaker drop in. I reported it and the owner said i could keep it. That pigeon ended up to be gold mine to the loft. It bred 11 out of 12 young birds to be prize winners. four of them where stop for stock as they took after the Dam. Three years later the Mealy pied got shot. The four pigeons I stop where the back bone of my loft. All through eyesign. Do you take any notice of eyesign mate cheers.
@@eddiewright5271 hi Eddie, if I’m entirely honest we don’t , but that’s not to dismiss the idea as our very good friends John May was a big believer in eyes , he could often pick the top breeder in a loft by looking at the eyes , he used to say like a volcano was what your looking for but my dad couldn’t quite get to grips with it . We solely breed best to best but as I say I certainly wouldn’t rule anything out if you know what your looking for
Thanks mate yeah i like to see character in a pigeons eye especially around the iris. It has to have depth mountains tadpole affect despite the colour. But that's another thing. Good luck with your young bird. Cheers mate 👍
I remember some years ago watching a group of men Cathing racing pigeons with nets.mind this was set in the hills in france.but these guys knew the time of liberation and sat and waited,as the batch of pigeons flew low the nets was tossed.
Myself being fully involved only 5yrs , my dad has raced pigeons since he was a child , the original Ali Bros was my dad and his brother Tony , my dad then went it alone for nearly 30yrs , I’ve always tried to be there for the races but my father did everything singe handed in all that time , work has now allowed myself to be more actively involved
This imo is happening all over the country, i don't think anyone can put there finger on what's going on. I don't think you can totally blame BOP, is it a health issue that we are not seeing, apply a bit of pressure & they go down, they look perfectly healthy when basketing a major issue with pigeons. A credit to you & your dad for putting these clip's up .
Thanks David , I won’t lie it’s been difficult to keep going this year but I believe in full transparency is the only way to do these videos , the 3 seasons leading into this season we had 54x1st and virtually unbeatable with old birds , I covered what happened this year in our stock loft tour with regards us not racing our own pigeons this year , but I’m with you 100% with regards to an underlying problem in pigeon racing in general with loses , I mean these our old birds and should not be getting lost but for some reason now if you don’t get them back by the following day you don’t see them again, is it the darkness system as ybs as these ybs do not range like natural ybs , or is it something health wise which is stopping these birds from navigating or is it the atmosphere but we’ve never known the likes of the loses that are happening these days
Pigeon racing is very difficult,the birds have huge obstacles to tackle may it be birds of prey need food for the family or wind turbines,mobile phone mast's but that the chance you gotta take,health wise ,do we have a huge infection of another form of bird flew,I do know hundreds of sea birds or dieing among other species
In our experience pigeon racing is becoming a head scratcher most weeks, expecially over 200 miles. Its great you are keeping the videos going even if you aren't flying at your very best. Will be interesting to see how you go when you get your own strain back in team. Here's hoping there will be less head scratching and better consistent races. Thanks again 👍
Thanks Andrew this is what’s keeping us going the thought of having our own lines back , but the fear of losing these ybs is through the roof mate , I think this year we have to be our own convoyers and if it’s looks dodgy or east winds we have to seriously consider not sending or maybe send half , we brought this problem on ourselves but it’s vital we are not in this position ever again 🤞

Do you not think there is something different in the sky, it seems bereft of birds in general, the odd seagull maybe but the skies in general, no matter what the weather, there's just no birds flying about any more - the bird population seems to be missing
There is 100% days like your describing, them are the days when the atmosphere is wrong or solar flares and you always get strange races on them days , a friend of mine says it when the sun and moon are visible , but 100% atmospheric disturbances do have an effect of pigeons
Richard there is no doubt loft location and wind is huge in pigeon racing , our federation is pretty fair as 90% of us our in a straight line , obviously the further the distance you can negate that bias a little bit it’s always there

R birds have been on the south coast today Weymouth an purbeck lots of birds missing best doing 1956ypm worst 1500ypm. All the best guys
