- The Grammy-winning musician St. Vincent, also known as Annie Clark, is back with a new album, “All Born Screaming.” Her last album, “Daddy’s Home,” was a wild trip through the ‘70s that explored her relationship with her father after his release from prison. But with “All Born Screaming,” she says she’s ready to let the music speak for itself. St. Vincent talks to Tom about the record, her collaborators, and where she’s at in her continuing evolution.

So wonderful to hear an artist like St. Vincent speak with such reverence about Tori.
I love how much her curiousity and her passion for music creation literally bleeds out of her. A true visionary.
✨🥲 Every single word she says about TORI is EVERYTHING!!!!!! 😻💞
"Digital Witness" off St. Vincent's self titled has always had a Tori vibe to it, to me. Melodically, especially.
Her best album since her eponymous LP. Her creative process speaks to me as an artist of my own music
I've been obsessed with her new record , it's so amazing to watch her describe how she creates music. And omg the love for Tori... she's so right about Tori and not just emotionally but also as an artist, her fcking piano pieces are thought out TO THE LAST NOTE, I can't even begin to describe how her piano compositions (particularly her first 5 records) were absolutely maniacally arranged so that the melody of the piano did something and the melody of the song did something else and they merged together but as separate entities I don't know how to explain it but she was an absolute genius in her prime and she still is
I am a rabid fan of Tori's. Choirgirl is in my top 5 of all times. So happy that I clicked to hear the interview. Not familiar enough with St. Vincent, but that is about to change. Thank you!
Choir girl is so under rated
@@adamfstewart81 It is very popular among Tori fans, I have noticed (maybe not as popular as Pele). Personally I'd say Unrepentant Geraldines is heavily underrated.
Enjoy the journey
st. vincent...anne clarke. definitely love her! great, great artist. very unique and creative. .
Very good interview about the making of an amazing record. Kudos to Tom for good interviewing, really giving space and listening to the interviewee.
I love St Vincent absolutely one of my favourites
I went out and bought this album on cd yesterday and damn if it's not mind blowing! 🤯. Quite varied in that there's up beat funky songs but also some seriously dark sounding stuff too. Another St. Vincent masterpiece! 📀🤘
Was Annie born in 1981 or 1982?🤔
1982. So says Wikipedia.
Thank you for this interview, love the detail on the technical parts and the process!
Love the interview... and yes, Tom is just as nice in person.
shared the same obsession on Choirgirl too~~
St. Vincent ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Annie is a Saint and a Prophecy ❤
RIP Albini
Oh my GAWD!!!
Am I more impressed you’re on Q?!?!!
Or more impressed Q got YOU?!?!!!
Ohhh Polyphonic Spree… memories…😊
Theyr the moment
I thought it was the dude from New Radicals in the thumbnail
Interesting interview! I wish she could have done it without sunglasses.
she was probably on shrooms
Tom is a master interviewer but this seemed like a challenge. Annie is a genius of course but there feels like a disconnect. Is it just the sunglasses and the hat?
The lack of composure from this composer is a unsettling. Trying a little too hard is trying.
What is her best song? Don’t answer, I’m joking. Sounds like what you hear in an MRI.
Black Rainbow
@@overnightrecordings she doesn’t have songs, she has infarcts
Actor out of work
So angry.
