I have been using the Screaming Meanie for 10 years now. Finally had to replace the 1st one after 8 years of use. Before I found this alarm clock I would have to buy a new alarm every six months due to I would get so use to the alarm sound it would not wake me up anymore.

continuous exposure to any sound higher than 80 dcb can cause permanent hearing damage. the higher the decibel, the less exposure time needed to cause damage (ex. 115dcb for 30 seconds). exposure to 120dcb can cause immediate hearing damage. daily exposure right next to your head? they aren't kidding when they say "deaf." don't go with that alarm clock unless you want permanent hearing damage.
so go deaf and never be bothered by alarm clocks ever again or wake up quickly

When I was a long haul trucker we used Screaming Meanies to wake up! Even louder in a confined space.

I own the screaming meanie 220. Scary thing is I have it on the loudest settings and I've slept through it 🤷♀️ it's LOUD, so usually I'll get kicked awake if I sleep through it.
The screaming meanie is very effective, my former trucker bf had 1 and it could be heard even if the truck was running, semi-trucks are far from quiet, so if it woke him up, it could wake nearly anyone up.
Yet I chose the "put the alarm across the room" option, and the snooze button stopped working, so that was effective enough for me.
For the presser sensitive rug... What if your pet sleeps on it

10:38 120 dB is the limit where you get Permanent Ear Damage. 10/10 whoever made that alarm...
you can get permanent hearing damage from prolonged exposure to lower decible sounds (115dcb for 30 seconds), but 120dcb is the lowest amount of decibels that can cause immediate hearing damage.
I was rewatching though his old videos. But my family is a bunch of deep sleepers, we have used screaming meanies for as long as I can remember (I’m 16) they work EXTREMELY well on waking people up and to turn it off you have to press certain buttons so after you figure it out you’d definitely be awake

Had the alarm clock, worked great... every time. Ended up pulling the 9volt battery out each time (since I was mostly still half-asleep, yet fully awake from the sheer terror of not wanting to wake up my family) which meant I ended up having to reset the clock each night. Eventually I ended up just sitting the countdown timer to go off after a certain number of hours. That’s way much easier to do when you’re tired and about to go to sleep. About the loudness, I’m sure the neighbors could hear it go off, as well. At that time I could not worry about that because I absolutely had to get up extremely early. It worked!

I always use my cellphone as an alarm clock, I've been doing so for 10+ years, and it is on a table, very close by where I sleep, and I don't have that snooze problem. So it depends on how much you WANT to wake up, and going to bed earlier ALWAYS works! Also, I am not lazy!

Matthias, the black lines in the pressure alarm clock are conductive carbon trails that get in contact with each other to do the snooze function. It's just a giant version of a membrane switch.

If you want to see a version of this, you can try getting one of those cheap "solar" calculators from the dollar store and tearing it open. They usually have the circuit printed in this carbon material, on a plastic sheet (like those old projector transparencies people used in school some years ago). It's how I learned about conductive ink!
