Euphoria is a little too out of my comfort zone, plus super hard to relate to as I was a straight laced, anxious and asexual teenager 😅. May not have known I was ace as a teen but looking back it was obvious

Can we unpack why these settings have to be high school. How much would these "coming of age stories" change if the characters were in college? You know 18+
the series is based in high school bc it is meant to cater towards that teen demographic

Missing half the just jokes, cuz I’ve never watched Euphoria (nor do I plan to), but still chuckling cuz that’s just what Mac does to you.

Euphoria was just depressing tbh it reminded me of Skins, a British show with basically the same plot points from like a decade or so ago just drugs and trauma compounded into a fever nightmare (can't call it a fever DREAM per se, too much pain for it to qualify.)

I avoided Euphoria for so long. I was listening to the people talk about how oversexualized it was and how it glorifies addiction.
But when the scene with Rue selling out Cassie went viral on Tiktok a nosey bitch had to figure out how we got to that point. Binged the entire show in 2 days and I have no regrets. Such a great show and reinvigorated my love for Zendaya. I absolutely love Maddy with my entire heart!
While it is over-sexualized, I don’t think it glorifies addiction. I think it shows an honest depiction of it. It shows the “fun” of getting high and the horrible feelings of crashing, withdrawal, and dealing with drug pins. As someone who used to have a friend addicted to heroine (she’s been clean for four years now) I will say, Rue’s big freakout was pretty spot on. Of course, not every addict is going to relate to the entire show because everyone’s different and they may have had different reactions to withdrawal and such. But I think people are confusing glorification and honesty.
But I do agree with the over-sexualization. I know they’re adult actors, but they were depicting teens and I felt super uncomfortable seeing the graphic sex/nudity of a teenage portrayal.
A show I know that is a better example of glorification is 13 reasons why. That show is a mess and a complete insult.
I think season one did an amazing job with what it was trying to show, but some episodes felt like there were times when characters didn't need to be naked or exposed. I mean Cassie is 15 at the beginning of the show
@@JaneDoeValentine the character is 15. The actress is obviously an adult but they purposefully try to make her character look younger.
I hope you also watched the Euphoria Specials in between the two seasons, you could get the context between Rue and Jules in those Specials
@@steff2437 Nope Cassie is supposed to be 17 in the 1st season cause theyre supposed to be HS Seniors along with Maddy, Kat, and Nate. Its also evident since Maddy celebrated her 18th birthday during season 2 which only happened a few months after the end of season 1
