    I love how The Wire does romantic relationships... they always take a backseat to the whatever the main story is focused on, but look closely and you can pick up subtle hints of chemistry gradually blossoming. Also the white baltimore accent is a little different but so noticeable. Ziggy is 100% from baltimore you can tell by the accent, Frog, some of the cops, and the principal lady from Season 4.

    id argue that bunk and lester were the best detectives on the show. After watching the wire for the second time around I kinda noticed how "bratty" mcnulty was throughout the show he would basically do what he wanted and when his bosses or CO would say he couldnt he would just whine, disobey orders, or did that thing kids do where they say no, pout then cross their arms. In this part of the show too he was supposed to be fired but was allowed to keep his job and transferred to the marine dept but all he did was be ungrateful the whole season. First time I watched i actually liked mcnulty but i guess as you get older you see shit differently and kinda see how insubordinate and childish his character was.

    • @gdduuhsstyhbbb
      @gdduuhsstyhbbb Před 5 lety +28

      Or you get older and jaded and refuse to see how breaking the line/protocol gets things done and people saved. Shit was like that overseas, no different as a cop in a city. Sure he complained and acted out, not out of immaturity, but because of a moral code. Fuck the rules so to speak. Some people just view justice as the only rule of law that matters. (last sentence was more of philosophical thought than opinion)

    • @shinobu2394
      @shinobu2394 Před 5 lety +12

      @@gdduuhsstyhbbb see i would agree with you if justice was his real motive, but it was not, my first viewing I thought it was justice too that motivated him thats why I liked the character the first time around. But the show showed us multiples times that justice was not his motive deeper and deeper into the seasons. Its shown multiple times through conversations with lester and bunk that mcnulty does what he does for ego reasons basically to "win" against his enemies to prove that he is indeed smarter than them (see mcnultys fbi profile vid and when he fights with bunk in the final season) and "justice" is just his excuse for doing that. Now I would say the real detective that does what he does for justice but is not in it for ego reasons is Lester especially in the later seasons, he was capable of breaking rules and yes he did do that, thats why he was demoted before the show in the first place, and he does it especially in the final season but he does it for the truth and justice not to stroke his ego. I was reading about mcnultys character though and it seems like the best detectives are the ones that dont do it for "justice" at all but rather to stroke their egos and thats how the writers came up with his character, but then why create lester then? They basically created a better version of mcnulty that does everything he does but better.

      shinobu i dont agree, lester and mcnulty were the best in my eyes. Yeah mcnulty kicked everyones leg but for a good cause. To make sure the bad guys get caught. What if the fake ribbon murderer never was brought up ?? Marlo would never have bein caught.
      So difficult to work with ? Yeah
      Sometimes an egotistical asshole ? Sure
      But was he natural police who actually gave a damn about cases ? Fuck yeah

      @@010les he was natural POHLEASE ill give him that, yeah now that i rewatched it again lol yeah i agree it is mcnulty and lester thats the best although i think lester was better. bunk just didnt have as much"detective screen time" to actually give the audience a view into his full skill as a detective as opposed to those 2

    • @010les
      @010les Před 5 lety +1

      shinobu of course lester was the best. The years of experience and his constant revealing of everything spoke for itself. Also he was soo lowkey and calm about it wich made him so likeable.
      Bunk didnt got much detective time i know but the fact it took him minutes to figure out omar didnt kill that lady in old face andre's store deserves props.
      He just didnt wanted to go as far as mcnulty and lester in season 5 with the fake serial killer

      I don't think it bothers a lot of people on the show. It could be argued that even Bunk and Lester are just doing their jobs, instead of being personally affected by it. Seeing 300+ homicides per year does tend to desensitize a person.
