    There's something about this music that just really gets to my soul as I'm watching these pictures go by. Causes a deep homesick feeling.

    SO glad I grew up in the 50's and 60's ! Kids now have no idea how awesome it was in those days.

      Totally agree, but I have a nice 1940 Ford to cheer me up when I'm feeling low.

    Truly enjoyed this video -- it brought back a LOT of memories. Had to smile at the sign "50¢ Saturday parking" -- today it's $40 parking (and that's just for an NFL game!). Somehow life seemed better way back when (perhaps that's because I was young then). Thank you -- your work is appreciated!!

    Born in 1960 I remember seeing family photos of 1950's car, two-tone, aqua and white, I love the cars from that era, earliest memories standing on the front seat while my Mom drove, brings a smile, thank you😁

    My gosh, some of these photos are so clear , it's like you're! Judging by the cars, many of these images are circa 1960. America was certainly a different place back then.

    Cars sure came in an array of colours back in the '50s - many more than we see nowadays. Cars are safer now but in the 1950s cars were exciting.

    Great video, would love to see captions of where they were shot ? Too bad Hudson and Studebaker went bankrupt. Should’ve been some way they could have been integrated into a larger company say GM or Ford? Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you, and keep up the good work! I would like to see a gallery of photos of mining in the West, from the 1860's through the 1930's. Can you do it? Bye the way, the all time peak year for gold mining in California was 1939. Gold mining never recovered after WW II.

  • @stokerboiler

    Yup. That's what the streets looked like. Before strip shopping centers trashed downtown retail.

    • @stokerboiler
      @stokerboiler Před 3 lety

      That was exactly why shopping centers and malls ran the "downtown" out of business. It didn't take long - maybe 5-7 years.

    Contrary to popular believe we had color film in the 1950s and 60s. It was just more expensive as was development cost.

    I love these photo collections, I do, but why do you have the music in minor keys? It makes it seem so morose and like something bad is going to happen, or has happened. How about something like a light jazz in a major key? Much happier music.

    Weird how these pics show decrepit buildings from the 1910s and 20s. LOL. The golden age of brick.
    It's like they still weren't building new ones till the 70s.
    It's great hearing these songs again. Kresge's was gone 45 years ago I think.
    Damn, I took hardly any pics with people in them.

    Pictures are time machines. I didn’t know there was a two door station wagon!!
    My Father had a four same color!!
    My friend had a red Buick convertible.
    He would get smashed-argue with his wife and blast up the driveway bouncing off trees and curbs!! 🥺Such a waste!!

    • @GordoGambler
      @GordoGambler Před rokem

      I don't remember 2 door wagons either. Likely a "business" incarnation aka the business coupe in the 1930s. For Amway, toasters and vacuum salesmen. LOL.
      I hate convertibles.
