'I was going to die': Frankie Dettori on traumatic 2000 plane crash which killed pilot

Italian Jockey Frankie Dettori says he was “lucky” to have survived a plane crash in 2000 which claimed the life of the pilot.
"On take off, something went wrong," Mr Dettori told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
"I was staring as the ground was approaching; I didn't have time to scream; I was just disappointed that I was going to die.
“I was thinking to myself, ’29 years old - I just had a six month child - why are you taking me now?’
“It was a trauma for me; I lost my good friend, my pilot.
“It took me 17 years to get back on a plane. I was scarred.”
