On April 4, 2014, some of the best-loved musicians in the world assembled at the Royal Albert Hall to pay tribute to one of the most-missed musicians of them all: Jon Lord. “Celebrating Jon Lord” will be released as 1CD - The Composer, 2CD - The Rock Legend, 2DVD, Blu-ray, Box Set and Download on September 26th, 2014 on earMUSIC.
All product configurations feature individual cover artworks.
The Box Set features - besides the Blu-ray, 1CD The Composer and 2CD The Rock Legend - an exclusive T-shirt, a two-sided reproduction of an excerpt of Jon Lord’s original, handwritten music score for “Sarabande” - signed by Paul Mann as well as a 20 page reproduction of the evening’s original show program.
On top and as a real collector’s item, the box set also includes two very special 7-inch vinyls: the first featuring the hypnotic live version of Deep Purple’s classic “You Keep On Moving” with Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Micky Moody and on the B-side “Soldier Of Fortune”, both taken from the 2CD - The Rock Legend.
The second 7-inch vinyl stands in the tradition of Deep Purple as it includes the band’s touching live version of “Above And Beyond” originally from the no 1 album “NOW What?!” and here included in the magic Sunflower Jam 2014 live performance - a song dedicated to and inspired by Jon Lord. The B-side is dedicated to Lord‘s “Fantasia”.
Divided in two parts - the first focused on the classical music compositions, so dear to Jon Lord, and the second featuring a crescendo of emotions going through some of his highlights as a rock musician - the concert gave fans a chance to relive Jon Lord's remarkable and extensive musical career, remembering music from Paice, Ashton Lord, Deep Purple, his later classical compositions and everything in between - all in aid for the charity organization The Sunflower Jam.
The 83-piece Orion Orchestra performed, conducted by Paul Mann and accompanied by bands and artists such as Deep Purple, Paul Weller, Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman, Rick Wakeman, Miller Anderson, Steve Balsamo and many, many more.

#jonlord #deeppurple #perfectstrangers - Hudba
The 70s was the golden era of rock music. Unmatched.
_Perfect Strangers_ was released in *1984*
Followed by those Pesky 80's! Whadda Party!
This version of Perfect Strangers is awesome. Don Airey just nailed it!
Please RIP
Sir Jon Lord
One of the best rock tracks of all time.
💜
Deep Purple one of the best rock bands of all time
Too bloody right mate.
Yep, you are right.
Áccept
Best band for me ever i am 61 and still crazy about Them.
Not one of the best...
The best...
Jon would have really appreciated the orchestral accompaniment. RIP
He himself wrote orchestral arrangement for Concerto tour.......
I went to Deep Purple's concert here in the city of Nova Odessa, Brazil, on via Anhanguera, it was an unforgettable concert, I love Deep, I've been following it since my adolescence, taking into account that I was born in 1958
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Can you remember, remember my name?
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
Ohh, and cold
Cold spirits of ice
Ah, ah, all my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning, the echo of a point in time
And distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
Ohh, and laughing
As the spirits appear
All your, all your life
Shadows of another day
If you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Oh, is aching with the dead of the night
Ohh, precious life
Your tears are lost in falling rain
And if you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers
i thank you
I finally found the meaning of the word "PERFECT"
John Lord would be proud
I know why it didn’t happen. But if there was a moment to invite Richie back for one final concert. This would have been it
This track is nearly 40 years old and still sounds great compared to most modern music.
Music that speaks to the soul
Deep Purple - My Favorite Band of all time...
Paice is a living Metronome! What an iconic drummer. And Gillan gets hot after the second verse..
The band was/is one of the best ever. I remember when this first came out and I would be driving and crank this tune right up
R.I.P JHON LORD
DEEP PURPLE IS ONE OF THE BEST ROCK GROUP BAND EVER IN HISTORY
FABULOUS
I'd say second only to Spinal Tap
Is JON for Jonathan!
@@framolon3708 *It's
@@haczabim Well I'm italian so I can make mistakes! But I was referring to "JHON" and I wrote that is not "JHON" but Jon that stands fo Jonathan! His name!
@@framolon3708 Caro amico, you've just made the same mistake again, lol. (Face slap)
Great Tribute To The one and Only Jon Lord!!!!
Going to show my age here. I bought this cassette "Perfect Strangers". Played it in car, with auto-reverse cassette player, and in 3 months, wore that tspe out! AWESOME with the full orchestra. Totally Awesome!!! See, I'm from the 80's. Rock on, the true colors of metal, Deep Purple!!
I had the 8 track. 😂
The audience should be pushed into their seats from the sheer power! Awesome concert! Jon, you live forever! Nay, Deep Purple lives forever!
Deep Purple ❤
The best live version of Perfect Strangers ever.
It's so great to see people creating such beautiful music as opposed to watching a bunch of thugs burning things to the ground.
This is what they're trying to destroy.
OUR HISTORY!!!
What are you talking about?
4:01 Hearing Ian P controlling a band and an orchestra at once while keeping every bit of power we all know he has really shows what an amazing drummer he still is. For me, he's among the very best of all time
Best comment ever
He harnesses the power.
Verissimo
Пейс никогда не косячит
So damn awesome!! Watching all those kids jamming on their strings with the band. Memories they will never forget.
DP and LZ are the best rock bands of all time...no doubt
I totally agree!
i remember the year 1968, i was entering in college and a new band, souding differently than others started to play music that i liked directly. 52 years later i am still listening to that band and they never disapointed me. Over all for ever : Deep Purple
Have to say I choked up a bit having recently attended a show with Morse on guitar. Paice and his control magnificent here w/Roger sharing THE section. Ian's voice on point and Airey filling the void. Love the conductor singing along! Thank you, DP!
👌
About 40 or more years ago back in the former Soviet Union I heard "Child in Time" for the first time in my life. And the that was a life changing experience. Thanks DP.
Vlad Gitt I am curious about the life in soviet union, how did you hear the song? And also how communism handled foreign music like rock for example?
Vlad I love hearing stories like this. Same question as Gionny97, how did you hear, was it a bootleg copy of the recording? Love hearing how you guys found a way to rock!
Vlas.. is was the same in the Netherlands... I bouth the lp Fireball firts but later on Purple in rock with child in time... blasted...
@@GuerrillaGuitar Thanks to Mr.Magnetophone :) I was born in middle-sixties in USSR, and remember well late 70-s early 80-s when I drifted from simple dance music to rock. "Western" rock music was almost totally banned on TV - with some exceptions, which probable were found harmless by communist TV bosses - such as Smokie, Elton John, Suzi Quatro... hmmm... but also some serious acts - Kraftwerk, ELO. And ABBA, of course - perfect pop-rock group (absolutely perfect!). There were no problems to find and copy almost any music "tape-to-tape" however (or - very rare! - LP to tape). Rock music in general was not welcomed officially, but there were no real punishment for that though. For example, I was totally diverted to rock by Kiss ("Dynasty" and "Unmasked") in combination with (still one of my favourites) Manfred Mann's "Angel Station" (tapes borrowed from friends). Nobody knew the word "copyright" then :)
@@vyacheslavshchinov8624 That's really interesting to hear! And what about local bands and concerts?
What a way to give the man the deserved homage by his former band ! Ian Paice has not lost any power; he is better than ever !
... yes..., yes ... true words ...
and gained more hair, it seems.

After my stroke, I rediscovered and fell in love all over again with Deep Purple 💜. And this song is my all time favorite 😍
I Love all Era of Deep Purple !😊
Mk II Deep Purple was truly one of a kind. Absolutely magic. Best band in the world. It's such a shame that the line up had so many ups and downs
Hammond couldn't thank the Lord enough, rest in peace our Lord.
this song is so sinister, real, powerful, then that riff at the end is so sensational, full of movement. Seeing it with the string section is jaw dropping.
He should be Knighted Posthumously. If Elton John is 'Sir'. Jon Lord should be 'Lordship'
Nitin Chhabra a knighthood grants a male the title of sir and a woman “dame”. If Jon Lord were knighted he would become Sir John Lord. Can’t choose the title.
Elton John is a douchebag Jon Lord is a real Knight
His lordship it is....
@@j800r Haha, that would be cool. BTW, it's Jon.
Obviously. Hence Jon's last name
What an honour it has been to grow up with Deep Purple... eat your hearts out milleniums.
Rip Jon Lord. 🙏
Deep. Purple. Forever. Wen. A. Blide. Man
They were Pioneers they started heavy metal along with you know who, But mixed a jazzy blues with rock
I grew up with Deep Purple and they're still sounding as awesome today as they did in the 70s - magnificent band!!
Absolutely amazing
Жму дружескую руку. Кумиры с 1969 года и по сей день!
@@user-jb2ck2he6kKey Board is the Johnson..
I'm speechless that was epic. Can't believe that they still sound so tight, Ian Paice is one of the best drummers sounds fantastic.
Im 69 I've been listening to them since 1970, Ian Paice is the only one that has never left the band. I saw them in Tam pa in 1972. Jon Lord was the greatest, sorry to have lost him. I saw them right before Covid. 2019 Ians voice shows age, but the band is doing great.
The orchestra is great. I love hearing rock bands with an orchestra.
Sir Jon Lord
Please RIP
CAN YOU REMEMBER MY NAME. Yes it's LEGEND.
Rock meets Classic💜
That is what you call epic
Wow. Totally blew me away. First, the arrangement for orchestra. Second, Ian's vocal was amazing. Never heard him sound as good. Dude is ageless
Ok don't get carried away.
For his age he sounds good but maybe go and watch him in his heyday to see how amazing his voice was 50 years ago.
Gillan always had one of the best rock and roll male vocals in history. Isn't surprising, well, maybe it is because of his age, but still, he never dissappoint!
@@ridesyd3335 exactly!"Dude is ageless",they go...Well,his voice isn't,though...His voice was gone,in fact,many,many years ago.It's not for nothing,Ritchi scolded him and they had rows.
@@workhorse7134 maybe a new set of lungs would help😂
@@workhorse7134 Right, 40 years back his voice was one of the best on this earth
Absolutely Perfect!!!
Epic!!! Thank you very much God! Thank you very much Deep Purple. Thank you very much John !!!
Purchased this Vinyl Album when it was first released. My Mommy worked part time at a record store to help support us. Got a discount and still have it to this day.☺️😊
Holy crap, that was awesome. The orchestra behind this just killed it. Made my skin crawl. Was 19 when this came out, been listening to DP since I was about 9 years young, this "come back" album was just in time. I always wondered how this song would sound with an orchestra, now I know.
The BEST ROCK BAND of all times ... no match
Нет ничего лучше оригинала!
I'm 69 YEARS OLD AND i WENT TO A DEEP PURPLE CONCERT in 1972 in MELBOURNE'S festival HALL AND DEEP PURPLE HAD A reputation for being THE LOUDEST BAND in the World AND AFTER the CONCERT MY EARS "RANG" FOR 2 DAYS AFTER it
They did a nice job with with the Royal Albert Hall Symphonic Orchestra. They allowed enough room for the orchestra to bring out its talent.
If you don't get any goosebumps you don't have any feelings.
Simply Awesome to see so many musicians on the same stage contributing to a magnificent concert in honor of the Lord ! The music sounded terrific as well. Thank you all for the effort.
You should listen to Ian Anderson from Jethro Toll playing Aqualung with an orchestta
Steve Morse rocks....
They RULE
I bet Jon Lord heard this so happy from the Heaven.
So disappointing that Blackmore couldn’t put his ego or differences aside for one evening and paid homage to the man that was the one who truly defined the sound of Deep Purple.
Sure he was busy worshiping satan
I totally agree
It's only rock n roll ..
Why Blackmore? May be Gillan's ego?😂
Jon is surely happy and smiling in heaven for this homage.
Just GREAT , they pay respect in a very nice way ,to the one , the only , JON LORD ....R.I.P......Thanks for all the music !
thanks god!!!!
Thank you for doing this a beautiful rendition of the song. RIP Jon Lord.
Some rock classics are eternal.... Will never die in the hearts of those who apreciate good music!

Hermosa canción!!!
This song is so awesome! I love the orchestra backing the band, and the lead in is just incredible. Young bands that are coming up need to watch this and see how being a great rock band is done so they can learn....
Yes!!!!
Ian Gillan is so great! Sounds so awesome!
The kids of today need to experience this music and embrace its substance and power ,especially for when we get older, so we aren't listening to crappy music
Ура! Они снова вместе!!! Светлая память JON LORD.
This is a master piece, listened it almost 20 years ago, reminds my beloved eldest brother who used to listen it several times a day for quite few years before he moved to Strasbourg,
Great song and tribute to one of the greatest organists of all time - Jon Lord.
On videos like this I wish CZcams would allow me to just sit here and hit the "Like" button over and over whilst the song plays! This is awesome. Deep purple is an integral part of my teen years and now at 58 I am so glad to be able to see this and remember the days. Thanks to Jon Lord and all the purpleites who made my youth so much better.
This is so beautiful and Gillian still got it, John was the master of his instrument and played it with passion, doubt anyone will ever come close to his mastery .
I love this track, and this album. The strings are AWESOME! RIP Jon.
what a wonderful version, it gave me goose bumps
After all these years,, now i realize, i missed THE LORD so much
Lord ,merita un asfel de omagiu !!!
A worthy celebration to The Legend, Jon Lord.
Mattias Kroon Don Airey does the song justice!
Had absolutely no idea this existed. Been a Deep Pimples fan since 1972. Good ole CZcams.
left with tears in my eyes, I am overwhelmed Deep Purple are my heroes..
I'm absolutely sure Lord thought of strings like this when he wrote the song. My goodness, you can't have it better than this. RIP John Lord, we all miss you.
LEGENDARY MUSICIANS..few bands can claim their status..very few.
I can't be there. I am here. big thanks to the musicians, you made the day more beautiful.
With the full orchestra, it's like Moody Blues, but a little harder rock! The sheer volume & weight of all the music is pressing the listeners into their seats! Awesome! Who was lucky enough to see them in concert?!
Perfect strangers reminds me of smoking weed with my older brother when I was13 years old before it was legal. This was in early 80s. I’m 50 now and cherish those moments with my older brother.
47 here, closed car doors and windows, enjoying second hand smoke, sharing together, what a memory
See if any other legendary rock musician will get this type of superb tribute. I'm gonna say, meeehh don't think so..But then again, Jon Lord isn't just a rock musician. He's a musician's musician of the highest order.
Very NICE! The orchestra really captured the ominous and doomy nature of this song.
I love this Deep Purple song!,and the orchestra somehow makes it even better! R.I.P Jon Lord-Eternal Musician!
That was beautiful
CRYING A RIVER, EASY. One of the greatest bands of all time, EASY!
Absolutely brilliant version of this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite rock band 45 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow! never saw this before, awesome rendition of a true great, rock on Ian !
Всем, кто палец вверх - присоединяюсь! Это вечно!
even to this day I am still enraged with how many years it took for Deep Purple to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Because it's an american stuff and they love to celebrate themselves with no offence if you are American but it's like that.
@@peterstrianus1790 It's because they are flaming idiots who control the voting. Rory Gallagher,Johnny Winter and Uriah Heep aren't in as well.. F the RRHOF.

Blew me away. So cool to c rock bands play with symphonies like Heart did with Stairway.
AMAZING ! Great tribute to John Lord ! Imagine all those young musicians telling their grandchildren they played with Deep Purple !!! So awesome !
Perfection
From Heaven Jon will be really proud of that!
I'm sure he is.
this moment at 03:30 when the organ kicks in... goose bumps again and again, no matter where or when I hear it
I love ian gillan..and thank you ian paice for teaching me how to be a powerful talented drummer....
