On April 4, 2014, some of the best-loved musicians in the world assembled at the Royal Albert Hall to pay tribute to one of the most-missed musicians of them all: Jon Lord. “Celebrating Jon Lord” will be released as 1CD - The Composer, 2CD - The Rock Legend, 2DVD, Blu-ray, Box Set and Download on September 26th, 2014 on earMUSIC.
All product configurations feature individual cover artworks.
The Box Set features - besides the Blu-ray, 1CD The Composer and 2CD The Rock Legend - an exclusive T-shirt, a two-sided reproduction of an excerpt of Jon Lord’s original, handwritten music score for “Sarabande” - signed by Paul Mann as well as a 20 page reproduction of the evening’s original show program.
On top and as a real collector’s item, the box set also includes two very special 7-inch vinyls: the first featuring the hypnotic live version of Deep Purple’s classic “You Keep On Moving” with Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Micky Moody and on the B-side “Soldier Of Fortune”, both taken from the 2CD - The Rock Legend.
The second 7-inch vinyl stands in the tradition of Deep Purple as it includes the band’s touching live version of “Above And Beyond” originally from the no 1 album “NOW What?!” and here included in the magic Sunflower Jam 2014 live performance - a song dedicated to and inspired by Jon Lord. The B-side is dedicated to Lord‘s “Fantasia”.
Divided in two parts - the first focused on the classical music compositions, so dear to Jon Lord, and the second featuring a crescendo of emotions going through some of his highlights as a rock musician - the concert gave fans a chance to relive Jon Lord's remarkable and extensive musical career, remembering music from Paice, Ashton Lord, Deep Purple, his later classical compositions and everything in between - all in aid for the charity organization The Sunflower Jam.
The 83-piece Orion Orchestra performed, conducted by Paul Mann and accompanied by bands and artists such as Deep Purple, Paul Weller, Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman, Rick Wakeman, Miller Anderson, Steve Balsamo and many, many more.

I was a young man when I first heard Ian's voice . I was so lucky to be in the audience that night .now 69 in a few days I look back and thank Ian for getting me into rock music.
Much respect Gillan! You could see that he was singing with his soul, the man is on his 70s and still can touch your heart with those powerful notes, one of the most beautiful songs ever made, R.I.P Jon Lord and God bless this REAL musicians we are so grateful to have with us

I first discovered Deep Purple and this album in 1978/1979 at the age of 14/15. Even then Elvis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and co were Old Rock n Roll.! Now 43/44 years later, this music is not only classic and timeless, but also still progressive.

I will never forget a friend from high school, named Μιχάλης, who gave me a tape of deep purple to listen. They was the first rock band I heard and make me love this music. Respect...

I don't have words for such a soulfull, truly inspired & heartfelt rendition of this song. Gillan has rolled back the years. I dont know when this was, its Sept 2022 now and likely its 8 - 10 yrs old, still Gillan puts in an oustanding performance. Saw him in '78 in England, as part of the Ian Gillan band, when he was at his best. Clear Air Tubulance was the record then, along with Scarabus- fantastic albums. Take any musician , they'll say Jon Lord was a prince of a man; listen to the depths of their tributes-Ritchie's "Carry on Jon', this, or any others to feel it.

Ian Gillan has such a great voice. He can’t carry those rafter rattling high notes any longer but he hasn’t lost his touch and his ability to reach an audience. Alas, Jon Lord is no longer with us but I’m sure he is well pleased with the boys and their salute to their great friend and fellow band mate.

I look to Steve solo and today i know i never hear him with Deep Purple at live show again. After long and magic 28 years Steve must leave Purple family. Because his wife fight with cancer. I remember day when he join Deep Purple and now i will rememberthat last live show with Steve in 2022. We all will miss Jon and Steve0 they duels was a true magic.

Blackmore was good only in 10 maybe 15 years era but in some point he drop in hierarchy down. Love his songs but for sure fuck him, that what he do for Purple family in 90' was sad for everyone, but this is only his fault noone more. Fuck him for thousand years.

This song has always been my Deep Purple favorite song as well as Child In Time. Then just after comes that just amazing album that features Glenn Hughes and Coverdale.
