I just got into a trade school for plumbing, I’m 18. I’m just having trouble trying to understand everything because of my learning disability. I just got out of high school literally a month and now I’m here, it’s tough but I’m willing to understand everything as best as I can. I want to move past the learning disability and be able to learn how to be the best plumber I can be.

People forget that Roger. When working through an apprenticeship you will get paid and when your in school EI will supplement your income. The thing that really messes my life up was the student debt I incurred at college and university. It took me decades to pay it all off and I had no credit. We really need to attract the next generations into the trades because we are really hurting for young people. The whole industry will benefit from videos like this. Great job Roger.

Pros and cons so far from what i heard and my experiences of trade
    Pros:
you get on the job learning
    Your mostly debt free
    Benefits
    You get high pay
    Career growth in certain trades
    You get a stable job/career
    Lifelong skills
    Career network expansion
    Cons:
    Low social life
    Could take up 5 years
Limited career growth in some trades
Credits most of the time cannot be passed to college
    You need a car
    Or some sort of transportion
Pretty fast paced most of the time

I'm in a ma n pa shop rn. I've been studying my butt off reading and watching vidoes about plumbing. It clicked for me after spending 40 hours a week in the shop learning parts, fittings, pipes, tools, sizes of supply lines and angle stops, valves, and even electical, all while helping costumers on the fly as i studied. Took about 6 months. By then i was ready to begin working in the field as a 'helper' and im 8 months in now and doing most of my own calls. I'm in a similar boat as you but 5 years younger and spent the last 10 in IT. Originally I wanted to become an electrician thinking it was somewhat related with what I did prior. However after job hunting for months now, I think I would like to do something like fire suppression systems. Not necessarily plumbing based, but many positions call for plumbing experience.
I'm fairly lucky to have a Lincoln Tech not far and as well an "alternative high school" that does adult education. All of the adult edu classes are for trades or similar skilled labor. Check your county, town or region for adult/continuing education classes.
Also Roto-Rooter looks to be the most friendly company when it comes to being an apprentice without any plumbing experience. I would look to them or even call your local plumbers and ask them if they'd hire an apprentice or helper who has plenty of professional experience but not plumbing.

The most profit is in retrofit or modification to plumbing in older houses. This is the area where you can come in and have the most opportunity to completely scam your customers out of their money. Most of the time you will be exposed to very simple ten minute jobs that you can charge thousands for. All you have to do is keep repeating licensed as though your some kind of government official who has the authority to charge whatever price you want.
