Gavin MacNeish maybe he was like a fine wine, get better with age. To me he looked a better player at 33, 34 when he joined Celtic. Not to say he wasn’t a class above every other player at Bastia and St Etienne coz he was, I just think he hit his stride a bit later in his career. I was there when he tore Juve to shreds and for the first half he was 10 years younger but in the second half he started huffing and blowing a bit, then you remembered he is human lol
The best footballer I have ever seen in the flesh . I'm a season ticket holder 20 plus years n yes I include Larsson in that statement n that pains me as the KOK is my favourite ever player but that guy was unplayable at times

He played for FC Nitra back in Czechoslovakia when he turned 17 and ,he was natural playmaker .
He went on to play for Czechoslovakia in World cup in Italy .
He was allways great player but unknown in Scotland .
How he end up playing in Bastia instead of top european club is something I do not understand.
So finishing his carrer in Celtic which is without a doubt big club was fitting ending of his career.
Lubo had a gift from god no doubt about it .
The game against Juventus showed that he can play on highest level and he was allready 35 . There were many ex players in Czechoslovakia who were after qiuck money and they become agents and someone come up with Bastia instead of club like Athletico Madrid or Borusia Dortmund .
Lubo was technically better footbaler than Nedved but Nedved agent was smarter than Lubos agent .
Lubo was magician with both feet .

I'll never understand how the big clubs in Europe didn't pick up Lubo in his prime. Glad they didn't mind you, what a player.
They nearly did mate.
He was outstanding for St-Etienne in Ligue 1 in the 90’s so much so Marseille were after him but I think a bad injury halted that move. Zidane (who played against prime Lubo then) is on record speaking very highly about the wee genius.

Came from nowhere, was questioned as a nobody when he arrived...but didn't he do well. What a player, a genius, the type I'd pay to watch all day. Sadly, there are few like him around nowadays, especially in Scotland.

I still don't know which was his stronger foot??? absolutely incredible class, I remembered him vaguely from Italia 90 when Celtic signed him, but he is still regarded most highly by those that were gifted the chance to see him play. Hail Hail Lubo!!

He was one of a group of world class Czech and Slovak playmakers around that time. They were well known.

If only he was 5 years younger I know some will disagree just for the sake of it but has there been anyone more two footed than lubo only naka comes close for me
WhyAlwaysMe1888 Whilst Nakamura was on the same level in terms of talent, it certainly wasn't because of his two-footedness. But Lubo was the most two-footed player I've ever seen.

Technically the best player to play in Scotland for a very, very long time.
I’m just a few years under 50 and obviously Henrik was statistically the GOAT,but Lubo is the greatest player I’ve ever seen in the Hoops.A genuine brilliant “#10” and because of MON’s preference for a box to box guy like Petrov with a high work rate,a perfect example of what he brought was when we needed to beat Motherwell at home to stay in the race,and Goram was having one of his “great” (sorry guys but it’s true.That night he still noised the fans right up without the “protection” of it being an Old Firm game) nights and after much pleading from the crowd,he brought the Master on.
We got a free kick that Naka or Beckham wouldn’t have been guaranteed to score from and Lubo....well you know the rest.
For me that was as important a goal as any he scored and I’m privileged to say I met him a few times but I know even after a couple of years,he would still struggle when you have a really thick Glasgow accent but he did know I was telling him he was my favourite player ever for Celtic.
I even remember seeing him in Greaves’ trying to get trainers for one of his kids and he wasn’t happy at all with the service.
A genuine legend who I’ll always be grateful to have been able to watch on a regular basis.

Lubo is a Celtic legend the man was magic with a ball Henrik larsson said he played with him for years and he still doesn't know what foot he was.
He was at St etienne when zidane was coming through. Zidane is on record saying he based his game on him and he his favourite player. They recently played together in a charity match.
Lubo was a "gift from god" and yes he was good in Europe for celtic
