There will eventually be millions of Fireflies on the road, and you don’t want them clogging up the swap stations for Nio owners and upset the Chinese “rich”. The “Swap Alliance” can build thousands of swap stations to accommodate all the “Alliance EVs” including Firefly. They can upgrade to Onvo if they want access to Nio swap stations.
@Mr P what you haven't factored in; the new swap stations for FireFly will also cater for other partner small factor cars, so it won't just be for FireFly as you're thinking, all the partners and future partners with small cars will use this swap stations

Marcel has a hypothesis that NIO is building the smaller swaps which would also be comparable with other manufacturers compact cars (BYD, GEELY) to entice those brands to join the network which would be awesome.

I don’t think we need to rush swap stations on smaller cheaper cars like Firefly. Look at how many cars BYD sells without swap stations. NIO should take their time and build them gradually without destroying cash flow further. Maybe add a few to existing swap stations with space for a small addition but mainly just have firefly rely on the charger network instead of swap network for now.

Firefly will be for city. Smaller swap station inside the cities is good. Will be more simple so cost less. Plus nio owners would not be happy to have too many other cars in their SS.
Maybe that s why they decided to start with Chinese market, not ready to invest in 2 kind of SS in Europe, too expansive.
But the thing is when did they realized that it was not working with the 4th Gen SS. Did they decide to build this new SS just because partners ask for it ? Or did they saw with the trial car that it was not working great with the actual SS ? Or battery management was too difficult.

Firefly won't really need battery swap. Metrocar... small battery easy charge. I figured it out. It's OK. NIO'S GOT THIS. I was worried as well... but think for a bit. Firefly don't need battery swap.
The next gen of swap station MUST also be usefull for the Firefly brand, otherwise I believe this would be a huge financial waste...

Probably $15 end of year early 2025, for $100 you are going to need close to 3 million car sales to support a market cap around 200 billion that’s not happening next year if it ever happens you are looking at the earliest 2030. Best case in 2025 Nio 250,000 ONVO 120,000 firefly 60,000 so maybe 430,000 total units if everything goes really well. Also to justify 200 billion market cap they are going to need some pretty good cash flow from energy with probably better margins than their automotive business.
I don't think that they are building for a small cars. Nonsense! Don't wast money on those cars!
