I really enjoyed your vlog just as much as you appeared to have enjoyed your trip in First Class. The commentary was well paced & narrated; the music choice for soundtrack totally appropriate. The well produced video provided lots of helpful detail covering the important aspects of the check-in, departure lounge, boarding and what to expect from BA’s service and the journey. I participate in the AVIOS programme and where I can fly business class. I hope to follow your advice on redeeming points in order to maximise the experience. An excellent, objective review. As you say in your apt "tag" it's the journey that counts, the infinite possibilities of travelling rather than just the being somewhere else. I've felt like turning round and going back, sometimes it can be very therapeutic.

Great video Jeff! Very informative and entertaining. I'm especially excited since I'm due to try this out in December (SCL-LHR) if restrictions are lifted by then. You are absolutely right about the remote boarding: it just doesn't make sense given the current situation! I've flown their business class product a couple of times on the 787-9 and have to say that I'm not a big fan of the layout because if you want a window seat (and which avgeek wouldn't want a window seat?😉) you are forced to face backwards, which imho isn't ideal. The cabin crew have always been excellent, despite the food being good but not the best quality.

In 2019, I flew from Seattle to London to Kenya and back on BA's Business class. I flew on a 777 and 747. I am not a fan (as a matter of fact, I will avoid it at all cost) of the front/backward facing seats in BA's Business Class. It seems to me that this is an extreme safety hazard for the person that has to climb over someone's legs during a flight, in other words the non-aisle seats. Also the fold-down foot rests are clumsy and awkward. The only marginal good thing about the front/backward facing seats is that you get to face your travel companion during the flight, but even that feels weird. I will say that I did like flying on the 747, upper deck, in Business class. They still had the awkward front/backward facing seats, but the aisle was huge and it seemed to be more spaced out, so climbing over the aisle seat foot rest didn't seems as bad. I will do all I can to avoid flying on the BA front/backward facing seats again.

I did long haul business class on a B.A. 777 with my wife before the pandemic with the 2-3-2. I could not believe anyone in their right mind could sign off such a seating plan. Surely, they must have been a plant from another airline?! I was aisle, so the window passenger had to climb over my legs to leave their seat! That was bizarre enough, but how the crew cope with serving the non aisle seats is heroic. To serve the middle seat in particular involves straddling the legs of the aisle passenger and much leaning and stretching. I had done Huston the year before, Air France out and KLM back and the service on both in a 1-2-1 configuration was outstanding. My wife (her last two flights had been TUI and Ryanair) enjoyed the experience, but, I vowed never again. Not, never again B.A. (I have had some wonderful service from their crews over the years) but never again 2-3-2.

The new BA club world suites are great. They are 1 + 2 +1, all forward-facing private suites with a door. They are very close to the first class suites which are still an open design with no door. BA is supposed to be working on a new first class with an enclosed suite. We just flew BA from LHR to BGI round trip in the new club world and I was impressed. Whether international first or business class, BA beats AA hands down. Now, you need to try the new Emirates 777 "game changer" first class suite. AMAZING!

Rear facing seats in the centre, that we actually had to pay extra for and you have to climb over legs To get out of you seat, and both sides of the plane were served food and drink so far out of sync it was a shambles. If I have to fly I will only go by Aer Lingus my own national airline and BA. Small thing, but a pity and surprising that BA fell down on such a small detail like the transportation to the aircraft. BA currently prices ATL to LHR at $1400.00 in economy. They had a sale several months back for ATL-LHR at ~$1800 in biz class so I jumped on it...for only $400 more than coach it was a no-brainer. To upgrade to First was $1100 from LHR and $750 to LHR. I jumped on both. Considering that it's typically $5k to fly first, I'm getting the whole experience for $3400.00 Not cheap, but way below what it would be for full fare. Wait for a biz sale, then even upgrade just one of your legs and you'll get the full enchilada in first for way below strike prices.

I do want to travel again in the future, places I have already been to and places I haven't yet. My dad will retire in 2 years or so, so I think the buddy passes will end, but his flying privileges will remain, I believe. It's cool, I don't mind flying economy, or whatever it's called now.

Awesome, yea there is no easy way to search. What worked out for us one this one was Amex had a transfer bonus for Avios at that time and it was an off peak date so it wasn’t very many points. Unfortunately BA taxes/fees are high, you are better off flying on a U.S. airline from Boston then it’s usually just the $5.60 tax & miles/points. Not only do BA not have a clue about what Business Class is, I mean just look at that seat layout, it's horrible! They even offer the Ryanair boarding experience to First Class customers. So, in a word: No. At best its some other airline's Business Class. And the fuel surcharge that never went away even when it should never have been implemented and the taxes imposed by the UK regime make this a carrier to be avoided at all cost. BTW, I have an AMEX/BA card but will never use it on a BA flight.

Agreed sir! The BA hard product in J is horrible! I as in J a few years ago LHRLAX on the A380. A backwards facing window seat. Very claustrophobic, and not easy to get out of the seat if the aisle seat next to you is occupied. I should never have to climb over my seat mate in J.

I’ve flown a lot in the old United backwards 2-4-2 layout and that was also quite terrible, these seats were great when flat beds weren’t so common in business class but that day is long gone. The boarding experience was terrible but I loved the service, it was exceptional.

Yes you're right it is, but for 450 & not many points totally worth it!

@@christophereaves7108 yes exactly, I don’t care how wealthy you are you’d have to be insane to pay that much for a 7 hour commercial flight!
