It is very difficult to explain to young people just how revolutionary this music was at the time. Our parents fought us really hard over embracing Rock & Roll but the power of the Eddie Cochrans, Wanda Jacksons, Bill Haleys, Gene Vincents, the Elvis's on and on was just to great. Oh and I remember the announcement of Patsy Cline's death the same way I remember JFK's and RFK's. It is still very popular because it takes everyone back to a much simpler time.
Another great that we lost too soon. With all due respect to Elvis, Eddie Cochran was the coolest thing goin'. You can almost feel the joy come through the monitor. At that moment, with that self-assured smile, it looked like Eddie knew he had the right stuff; and was having the time of his life. And that sailor in the audience looked like he was in dire need of a laxative.
I saw him perform live in London. The guy was no poser. The only known movie clips of Eddie don't do him any justice. He was an awesome performer and a brilliant musician. He certainly will never be forgotten in my house.
I was fortunate to have worked with the drummer ,geno riggio of eddie’s back-up/touring band , the kelly four. Geno and i were “pals” until he passed a few years ago. One time we had him down to Our guitar shop for pizza and he brought his scrapbook and regaled us w/real life stories of traveling the US performing w/eddie. Sad how eddie went out. He deserved better.
It's amazing that there is an actual live show of his to show what he really as like. I think what scared adults in the 50's about rock n roll what not just the music but the way people like Elvis and Cochran moved on stage.
When Eddie played post war Germany at first the audience sat quietly at the end of the song, didn't applaud, didn't seem to react at all. Then they stood up and rioted. They truly "got" rock and roll.
Sorry My Friend, The Rock and Roll is the Best ... Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Halley, Eddie, Fast Dominó, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Budy Holly, ... etc. ALL, THE DREAM ´S TEMA OF THE ROCK AND ROLL
I live near Chippenham and every time I go past his memorial I always sing a bit of summertime blues to him.its just my tribute to a rock n roller.i don't think he would be to impredded with my version but its the thought that counts.
What a performance and what a track!! This is live folks!! Eddie Cochran was/is the real deal. A total Legend with a capital L. Just imagine if he was still alive now....a man of his talent would have made incredible record after record after record...I love this track and summertime blues...RIP Eddie Cochran. You sadly passed away way too young...infact it would have been great if u were around forever making great music like this...Even in this short clip his charisma and presence is so strong
I think it's great that young people can discover early rock 'n' roll through a video game like "mafia II" It can only enrich your life, it certainly has mine since I first heard Blue suede shoes by Carl Perkins, when I was nine back in 1977.
Awesome. I always think that if Eddie and Buddy Holly had lived, they would have contributed even more energy and innovation to the music of the Sixties.
Authentic Rock & Roll being invented before your eyes here. Gritty driving slammin' live stuff. As good as anything by Beatles Stones Zeppelin etc. Great !!
If Eddie had lived, there would never have been a dip in pure Rock n' Roll. Teen heartthrobs such as Fabian, Frankie Avalon, could not have been as big as they were. The government castrated Elvis by inducting him in the Army, (his true Rock n' Roll persona never recovered.) Buddy Holly was killed, then Eddie. It took the arrival of The Beatles to resuscitate Rock n' Roll. Still today, people still don't appreciate how influential Mr. Cochran really was. Especially to the many English bands.
one of the early pionners of rock..he died in a car crash in england....girlfriend was hurt but she was ok.....summer time blues one of his greatest hits...one of the best rockers of american rock....everybody remembers holly .valens..burnette....but no one remembers eddie ..aint that a shame...r.i.p. eddie
I'm with you my friend. I defy anyone to listen to this and not want to dance - great tune from the great days of r & r. RIP Eddie. What else might he have done for us if he hadn't died so young....
The most talented rocker of his era and true Father of Rock Music. Top 10 reasons why this guy is -arguably- the most underrated musician of all time: - Best guitarist of his time (hands down) - Musical pioneer - Brilliant composer and producer - He could really play guitar, bass, piano and drums - Evolved guitar technique (riffs, two strings soloing, etc) - Evolved studio recording techniques - He could play naturally any style (blues, country, jazz, classic, rock and roll, etc) - He established the basics of rock guitar - Only white guy who could actually play the blues - He died when he was only 21 years old The guy even had the time to perform in three movies. A true genius and a very nice and humble person. Even Jimi Hendrix himself considered on of his main inspirations. Respect. Nothing else to add.
No way, Eddie was a natural performer just being himself not showboating as much as Elvis, he could sing well and played the guitar like a champ.. Rest in peace Eddie, you will never be forgotten.
never forget my dad telling me off for leaving my 'headbanger' music too loud in HIS car when i borrowed it, but yet when i got in his car i'd hear this pumping out at full volume when i turned the key lol Eddie Cochrane! what a star!
TONE B HURT Ah, i hate everything fro mliek 1990 to now. Im 16 man. My dad luckily showed me rock n roll when I was 8 so I wasnt brain washed by todays stuff that much. I do find music even from the 1860's to be interesting, but Im in band as well so I love a lot of music.. You show appaeciativeness to things when you know how hard something is to paly or so and how much skill it was to write a peice so nice... But I would never listen to classical music on my iphone or anyith,ng just 1950s-1980s rock
rock n roll, rockabilly?call it what you like. fact is,this is a man experimenting at the beginning of rock, and yet,for all the changes, and titles of music, its NEVER got better than this! pure brilliant genius
i'm sixteen and everyone around my age hate that i listen to this awesome genre. but new songs aren't even close this kind, when you can make a song without mixing it in a computer then you are a real singer. everyone ho agrees thumbs up :D
This aired exactly thirty-five years prior to my existence! Best pre-birthday gift ever! In all seriousness, I like how the piano is more prominent in this variation. It's cool to see a piece of recorded history in motion. :D
Eddie Cochran was an original Rock and Roll pioneer. He was shadowed by the greats of the 1950s such as Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Eddie might not have been as popular as Elvis or Cash but he helped pave the way for Rock and Roll just as much as they did in their time. With songs like “C’mon Everybody”, “Something Else”, and “Summertime Blues” Eddie Cochran was creating some of the greatest tunes of the 1950s. In his songs he captured the teenage frustration and desire of the 1950s
I was a high school soph when this song came out...not much better has come out since then and I've got a grandson who'll be a high school soph come September...
I just love listening to Rock and Roll, which influenced my life. Eddie's music has made me go to university. In the future, I will write full time, novels. I love all forms of old rock music because it captures life in a positive, or makes me think deeper about life ! There are so many stories to be told! That's how society grows!
I just love these really tight progression old 50s songs. Come On Everybody (Key of E: 1E-4A-5B) keeps my attention, never a dull moment from beginning to end. Great song!!!
tremendous, and what a difference that great piano part makes - like the phenomenal effect of guitar and piano in unison at the start of elvis's "i wanna be free" - martin.
Eddie has been gone 48 years today. I like the way he raises is eyes to the ceiling at 1:40, Buddy must have been looking down that day, it was the day of his funeral. RIP Eddie, thanks for the music.
I agree. Holly and Cochran would have blown Elvis out of the water had they lived a longer life. People tend to forget that Elvis was also very popular because of all the movies he was in.
Another of our great singers that we lost at such an early age. Being this good and popular, just imagine what he would have become if he was still with us.
It is very difficult to explain to young people just how revolutionary this music was at the time. Verdade como eu gostaria de ter vivido essa época.

This is music!!! I'm 13 and I love rock n ' roll ! My Idol is Elvis Presley, I love him so❤❤ He died too young 😭 Eddie Cochran too!
Another great that we lost too soon. With all due respect to Elvis, Eddie Cochran was the coolest thing goin'. You can almost feel the joy come through the monitor. a true legend of rock n roll, he lives on forever.
The greatest from the 50's, Eddie Cochran. He just looks like he is having fun. This is one great rock and roll song.
I saw him perform live in London. The guy was no poser. The only known movie clips of Eddie don't do him any justice. He was an awesome performer and a brilliant musician. He certainly will never be forgotten in my house.
My favorite guy from the rock n roll era. Great composer, very innovative, so many good songs or instrumentals in such a short time...
I was fortunate to have worked with the drummer ,geno riggio of eddie’s back-up/touring band , the kelly four. Geno and i were “pals” until he passed a few years ago. Eddie will always be the best. Sadly not given the reconition he deserves. He will always be number 1 with me.

What a fucking senseless loss...

Awesome, so great to see him in action - he's even better than I'd imagined.

what would this guy gone on to achieve? stand up for the amazing Eddie Cochran
Possibly recognition also as a great composer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist as well as a rock and roll singer.
Hey Paula
Mark Jones We will never know, very sad.
Ma jeunesse FANTASTIQUE que des bons souvenirs
One of the best R&R songs ever! Eddie is my idol along with Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent.
If Eddie had lived, there would never have been a dip in pure Rock n' Roll. Teen heartthrobs such as Fabian, Frankie Avalon, could not have been as big as they were. The government castrated Elvis by inducting him in the Army, (his true Rock n' Roll persona never recovered.)

My favorite Eddie Cochran tune.
This guy's music was INCREDIBLE.

One of the greatest pop records ever recorded. Teenage life in 1950's America explained in under two minutes. Cochrane is Mr. R&R.
This aired exactly thirty-five years prior to my existence! Best pre-birthday gift ever! In all seriousness, I like how the piano is more prominent in this variation. It's cool to see a piece of recorded history in motion. :D

Eddie Cochran was simply the best. That's it. I love him . . . and once again, I wish it was the '50s. Oh well, at least we still have the music . . .
Gone too soon.
I just love listening to Rock and Roll, which influenced my life. Eddie's music has made me go to university. In the future, I will write full time, novels. Taken far too young. what a talented young man he was.
it'd be interesting to see where rock & roll would be today if the TRUE kings of the genre had lived a few more decades...
buddy holly died with the hit "I't doesn't matter anymore".. Eddie had "Three steps to heaven" etc..
ONE OF THE GREAT ROCKERS IN THE 50S WHOSE LIFE WAS CUT SHORT
Jimi Hendrix wanted him to play at his funeral!
I just love these really tight progression old 50s songs.
Come On Everybody (Key of E: 1E-4A-5B)
keeps my attention, never a dull moment from beginning to end. Great song!!!
Was that really over after only 1:50? Who cares, C'mon Everybody!
C'mon Everybody, rock 'n' roll is blast when Eddie plays it! Eddie rocks forever! I saw him play live in 1957!!!!! He was awesome!!!!!
Eddie couldve really been a #1contender to stand along side Elvis, but sadly that shit driver they had ended that :(
RIP Ed.

*CLASS, PURE CLASS!*
Another of our great singers that we lost at such an early age. Being this good and popular, just imagine what he would have become if he was still with us.
He was the best!
It doesn't matter what color he is, Eddie Cochran rocks and frankly rock-n-roll never got any better than this.
This amazing music came to America via Ireland,England and Scotland i the form of traditional music and became rockabilly and then rock n roll.
Rock 'n' Roll will never die!
My goodness that brings back some great memories!!
