Um, sweetie, Pentatonix, were MENTORS to Home free when they were on the Sing Off, have won 3 Grammys & collabbed with everyone from Jason Derulo & Stevie Wonder to Dolly Parton. I believe they have close to 170 recorded songs-covers & originals-been together 10 years, done ridiculous amounts of sold out world tours, have topped the Billboards & have over 19 million subscribers! Avi sang with Home Free in Ring Of Fire and has been featured in other videos of theirs not singing. I agree bass headphones are needed to fully enjoy Home Free and Pentatonix. You can hear so much more from not only from the bass but the harmonies with a good set of headphones.

I love when a reactor discovers PTX and then we get a whole flurry of new reactions. Please consider doing their whole season on THE Sing Off, it’s amazing that they were creating themselves before our eyes. 3 of them had known each other for years but the group was created to compete on the show and met just in time fir auditions. They had not performed anywhere until the show started. (In the interview spots they act like they have been a group, but that was just the scripting)

Loved this reaction! I'm an old codger and set in my ways, so it took awhile before I went with headphones, and, did it ever make a difference! I'm guessing I was missing about 20% of the sound without them. Home Free won the Sing-Off in 2012, and Pentatonix won the year before, and there is only respect for each other as well as with other groups in the a cappella community, so no need to worry about who is better...most of us enjoy them all.

The guy in the hat with the sonic voice is Mitch. To really appreciate his skill you need to listen to their cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody". All are excellent singers and produce some truly beautiful music. Two of my favorites are "Mary, did you know"and "Cheerleader".
Now you have to check out Home Free's "Ring of Fire" they did with Avi Kaplan (the guy in the beanie) it's AMAZING to hear both him and Tim Foust together,the level of bass in that song is just off the charts

Sadly, my husband passed away before the concert and one of my sons went with me. My husband and I would watch all of their videos! They are awesome!!

The Pentatonix members met approximately 24 hours before they sang on a televised singing competition called the Sing Off. They were in season 3 the season before Home Free and they won. The Pentatonix band and Home Free members are friends. In fact Beanie guy who is a basso profundo , Avi (pronounced Ah-vee) Kaplan is featured on a Home Free performance of Ring of Fire. He lives in Nashville now as does Tim Faust and has s super solo career. He and Tim are friends. Pentatonix won 3 Grammy awards in their earlier years. Daft Punk was the first Grammy win. Please react to that. It is entirely different and was filmed in Avi and Kevin Olusola's(beat boxer) apartment. They are all musical geniuses and they always amaze. PTX is the most successful acapella group in the world and a few of the reasons are worth noting. Five incredible voices, enormous musical talent of course; any one could front their own group but it works because they are such generous people who love each other and what they do. There's no arguing behind the scenes or internal competition. Part of that is because three of them grew up together singing in kids musicals and high school choir.
Features and solos are shared around, but they always put together an arrangement that brings the best voices to play for each number. So while Scott does a lot of the lead parts so does everyone else (except Kevin who is usually needed for the beat). And then they have an amazing work ethic and are perfectionists, everything they do is creative and fully thought out and they commit to the execution.
The guy with the beard is Avi, He Left the group to work on his solo career and he was replaced with another member. you should look up allice in wonderland Penitoinix and if your looking for more Christmas music by them check out Marry Did you know. they also did a cover to Bohemian Rhapsody & The sound of Silence. If it's a capella you're hungry for, don't sleep on Voiceplay. Every single song is spectacular, and their bass (Geoff Castalucci) has the most buttery low voice I've ever heard.

am so glad that you liked this video. It is a great introduction to PTX (Pentatonix). If you wish to continue down the PTX rabbit hole, then I have a few suggestions. Many people have many favorites in many different categories. "Daft Punk", "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" and "Jolene" are the three songs they won Grammys for. For covers try "any of their Evolution series, "Mad World," (Tears for Fears), and "Imagine" (John Lennon). For original pieces I recommend "Coffee in Bed", "Sing", "Happy Now", or "Love Again". Oh and just so you don't get confused on future reactions, there has only been one member change in the 10 years they have been together.
You're making your way through the acappella rabbit hole. The other quintet you need to check out is Voiceplay, and then if you REALLY want diversity, beautiful voices, glorious arrangements and universal application of orange juice, you gotta see the acappella ensemble Voctave.
