  • Harvey was nice enough to send me out the Ambassador C14 bandsaw to try out. I have only had it a few weeks but here are my thoughts so far!

    Just bought my 17 inch Grizzly 2 HP with cast iron table and trunnions with the foot brake which is a great feature -- a major upgrade from my 10 inch Craftmans that I have had for about 15 years :)

    Looks like a great saw, Brandon. At my age and as a hobbyist, it's realistically too much for me. I hope it serves you well. I agree with the twist-lock plug. I did that with my compressor because the plug kept falling out from vibration. Take care.

    I’ve been wanting to buy this saw for a while, but I have concerns. We’re you able to unbox it and stand it up by yourself, and were you able to place it on the mobil stand by yourself? If I remember correctly, it weighs 699 pounds in the crate, and 500 pounds alone.

    • @WalkersWoodworks
      @WalkersWoodworks  Před 3 lety +3

      It comes standing up bolted to the pallet. With that said... I do some pretty sketchy stuff my myself lol. I would not recommend it but it's possible. It was a challenge to get it in the rolling stand I got but I got it done with wedges and stupidity. 😂

      @@kperellie it weighs about 420lbs actually ... you can easily "walk " it off the pallet after you unbolt it , and attach the leveling feet that come with it ( i didnt find them until after i had placed it on the ground - much easier if you locate the leveling feet before taking it off the pallet and just put them on one side first then the 3rd leg and then the 4th as you shift it off the pallet )

    OK so after almost exactly 1yr what are your thoughts?? I want to pull the trigger but the $350 shipping is painful. I see that Grizzly's 17" model only cuts a 12" max height and this is 14". I am awaiting your thoughts before I commit.

      It resaws up to 14" and unfortunately no. It's a 220 saw because of the 3hp motor.

    Dude your roller bearing guides are cont ax cting the blade at all times even when not cutting, should not be doing that as this means they sre applying lateral force to rhe blsde possibly unevenly. You want em to be as close as posibnle without spinning when the saw is on but not cutting

    • @WalkersWoodworks
      @WalkersWoodworks  Před 2 lety +3

      I don't think any large power tools are made in the US anymore. I could be wrong. But I know the most used ones are not. Powermatic, Grizzly, Delta, even Sawstop are all manufactured in Taiwan. Honestly most are made in the same facilities with different quality demands.
