    Let me know if you have any questions, or if there's something else you would like me to test on the 67i.

      After recent eye surgery I need to stress readability. How would you rate that and what features does the 67i have that can be a workaround to address that need? Please be specific, screen size, pixel resolution, zooming, display exporting, e.g. Thanks

      I apologize for the late reply. I did not see you comment. You can change the size of the text and how much can be seen on the screen. I cover some of this in a video on the display size. Check out that video below.

      Let me know if you have other questions and you may also want to talk to Garmin directly about this as they would know more. I hope I have helped some.

    I recently transitioned to this device…has exceeded my expectations!

      Thanks for letting me know.
      Originally, I thought I would never need everything the 67i has to offer, nor would I want it, but that has turned out to be incorrect. The GPSMAP 67i is now my number one satellite messenger with the inReach Mini 2 following up behind that.

    Thanks Rick for another great video. Because of your first video on the 67i I went ahead and bought the unit. I learned to use it watching your tutorials. I still cant get the Mapshare to work. My contacts can see my location after I sent them a check in message, but they cannot see my progress along the trail. To do that, they have to be logged on my Inreach account and that’s a pain. I’ll have to call Garmin and find out what’s going on. Anyway, thank you my friend. This GPS is awesome!

      Calling Garmin is always a good choice, but I'm also going to make another MapShare video showing the setup and how to send the links, plus how people can see you without being logged into your account. I'll see if I can get that video up by this coming weekend.
      I'm glad you brought that issue up because it helps give me ideas on what videos to make next.

    Thanks for doing these videos.
    I’m planning on purchasing a 67i for myself and these videos will help me learn how to use it.
    I would like to see how the geocaching feature works with the 67i.
    I’m planning on doing geocaching with it.
    Thanks

      Glad to help. I have about 29 videos in the 67i training and will be adding more soon.

      That is on my list and I have had several people asking about this so I think I'm moving that video up to my number one spot and it should get uploaded in a week.
      Thank you for letting me know what you would like to see.

    But would you prefer this over the mini 2? (ignoring the GPS maps). Wondering if it's worth the bigger size and price

    • @outdooremergencytech
      @outdooremergencytech  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I can't answer this question for people because it depends on how you use it and what your priorities are.
      If your priority is pack weight and size then I would go with the Mini 2. If you primarily go on day hikes then again the Mini 2 may be your best bet.
      If you go on multi-day outings and size and weight are not an issue and you don't want to rely on the information you get when synced with your smartphone then the 67i is better. If you like all of the tech and like to have an all-in-one device then go with the 67i.
      My personal preference: I use the Mini 2 on day hikes but I use the 67i when on longer trips and when out on fishing trips. Both of these devices are in my top two list, but the 67i is my favorite, primarily because I like to see more information on the trail and where I've been, plus I don't like relying on my phone's battery life or if I'll have issues with syncing between the devices.
      I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Rick!
    I'm currently using a broken xtrek and it got me in gps
    I'm looking for one that can:
    Wake me up
    Use calculator
    Track my enduro, mountain biking and hiking.
    Good battery
    Only buton and rugged device.
    Can pair with trailfork
    The Gpsmap 67 looks perfect for the job but i don't know if it can pair with trailfork like the "edge bike computer" can.
    On the garmin website it's not written if it can wake me up and be used like a calculator.
    Do you know if the Gpsmap can do it?
    Cheers from france

      My guess is the GPSMAP 67i is the best device for the job, but I would contact Garmin directly and confirm this.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you Rick for nice well put together video. I'm looking to replace 66i to 67i. not sure if my British OS maps sd card will work with new 67i. those custom OS maps are super pricy ad you know...

    • @outdooremergencytech
      @outdooremergencytech  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you for the compliment.
      I have no experience with the British OS Maps SD card so I would recommend you talk directly with Garmin. I have them on speed dial and am constantly bothering them.
      As far as my experience goes with the 66i vs the 67i, there's just no comparison for me. The 67i has a faster processor, a much better battery life and there are more maps available on the 67i.
      The 66i was not anywhere near the top of my favorites list, but the 67i is now my favorite satellite communicator.
      Thanks for taking the time to leave a question and give a thumbs up. Let me know if you have any other questions or would like for me to field test something specific.

    I want something that in an emergency I can rely on it to communicate and ge help.

    • @outdooremergencytech
      @outdooremergencytech  Před 22 dny

      The Garmin GPSMAP 67i and the Garmin inReach Mini 2 are my top two satellite communicators and are probably the best on the market.
      You may also want to consider a ham radio for larger regional emergencies. I'm starting to cover those now, but the satellite communicators I mentioned above are the best for normal times when you're out on an adventure.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Do you have to buy a subscription? Or will you have maps without that

    • @outdooremergencytech
      @outdooremergencytech  Před 14 dny

      There are certain things you get and can do when you buy the 67i, such as the pre-loaded maps and the ability to navigate and tracback, but you need a subscription to SOS, 2-way message, let others see your tracks, and get weather. There are several types of subscriptions and ways to save money depending on how you use your device and how often you use it. Check out the video below for more information.
