  • MY 5 MONTH REVIEW 2017 SEA-DOO SPARK 3 UP I probably won't keep it. Overall it's a great SeaDoo Spark and extremely good value for the money but there is one thing that makes me think I won't keep it for another season.

Came down here to comment the same thing. I recently picked up a 90’s X-4 hull with the 800 engine and my buddy bought a brand new GTI 170. The new one is so refined and smooth but it didnt feel nearly as fun to ride. The SPX is like holding onto an angry bull that just abuses you. We made a game out of who could stay on it while whipping a high speed 180.
The big rec ones are nice for longer comfortable rides but theres so much fun and experience lost, IMO. After riding both skis Im looking to pick up a new spark for the added fun factor.

I highly recommend the Aerospace 303 marine plastic protectant. I used it from day one and my Spark has not faded one bit. It may even bring back the black color where it had faded.

If the hdpe plastic is uv stabilized it,s no problem.I have a pioner 15 Norwegian plastic polyethylene in what seems the same plastic, you dont need to do anything with it and it,s on water year round and have been for 10 years, just up for steaming once a year.Maybee a bit fading but very little.

Good tips. I love mine and agree not fun on roughage. Mine still looks like new. Not peeling like yours so that was a surprise. The graying I hit with a heat gun. It removes oxidation. Wax melts away or smooths out. Try on a part that easily replaceable first. Once you know how to do it, it is awesome. It works on automotive plastics too, Avalanches, RamBoxes, etc. but remember it is plastic and paint is easily damaged.
As for the bubbling on your plastics. BEFORE it peels off, take an Xacto knife and poke a tiny hole on the bubble. NOT a slice. Rub it with your thumb until it is smooth. Heat gun on low or a distance will fix re-adhere paint to part. If not comfy with that leave it in the sun and let nature do it. I do this to older hard tops on Jeep Wranglers. Once it is exposed like the right side of your Spark, it is too late.

Nice video! I bought my Spark new in 2014...2up with H.O. It is a dream on flat water, but it is not fun in 2 ft chop just like yours! You really have to pick and choose your riding days around here based on wind kicking up chop. I wished they had a bigger fuel tank too, because I like to do distance rides.

@@Tyler-zw4kq It's fun up until it isn't anymore. I have a 96 spx legendary X4 hull and it is a LOT of fun to whip around and jump waves, but after a few hrs it gets old. Good review, I am looking into picking up a ski for my son next summer. I have narrowed it down to either a seadoo or Yamaha. I have 2 Yamaha FX Cruisers and opted to buy the more expensive ones when I saw the features. Almost went with VX cruisers, but I am really glad i didn’t. My only concern is a spark is a fun inexpensive ride. But will I regret getting him a cheaper ski, that can’t keep up with other two.

I love the compactness of the Spark and being able to throw it around. But, as you said, if there’s anything over a 12
Mph wind on the lakes, forget about it. It’s too choppy and not fun. I worry that the GTI won’t be as playful as I want it to be though. However, it would be better in chop and more stable with a passenger. I’m just not sure what to do!

Jet skis were made to jump over waves and wakes and have fun. That fun includes being beat up. If you read the information on the SeaDoo Sparks they tell you not for oceans or large bodies of water where it can become very rough. Use in inland lakes and rivers not to include rivers with rapids.

Probably not im pretty particular about the products I use. Im starting to think is the place we always hang out the beach is a real course sand some times mud mix. Of course everyone wants to go for a ride so theres alot of getting on and off of it. It is what it is, its still a great little ski for the most part.

Hey man a word of advice. Take a propane torch and lightly go over where it has faded. It takes the fade out and brings back the shine. I mean lightly go over it, not melt it. Just enough to heat it up. It will bring back color and get rid of fading.
