    To everybody accusing Junkball of missing the modified bridge from Generations... remember the name of the video is *Alternate* Enterprise bridges. Anyway, the Generations bridge gets my vote as favorite all time bridge, followed by Yesterday's Enterprise bridge and All Good Things. Least favorite...Enterprise-E, of course

    I really liked the uniforms from "Yesterday's Enterprise". The extra black accents on the wrists rounded off the uniforms' cuffs and the Star Fleet insignia belts with phaser holsters reminded me of the mirror universe, where at the time, the Terran Empire was losing to the Klingons as well.

    For Non Canon Alternate Reality Bridges, The I.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D from The "Mirror Broken" Comics has a different bridge design, It has the command area once again raised by the two steps used in All Good Things with the uppermost step having the Terran Empire Insignia proudly displayed on it and the Doors receive the same embellishment with the Terran Empire Logo, the carpet color is also changed from Red and Gray to Brown and Gray. And that is the extent of the Changes made to the bridge for the Mirror Universe Enterprise-D.

    2:33 Sorry for this weird meta pseudo-stoner post, but I never really thought about how the lighting of this scene makes the AU bridge seem like a set (in a theater sense).
    Like obviously the bridge is always a set, but in this case the way AU Picard walks in from ‘stage left’ and there’s a light in the center really gives you the impression of walking on to a stage.
    And in a way, that kind of fits the theme of the episode, that version of the bridge isn’t ‘real.’

  • @deathstrike
    @deathstrike Před 5 lety

    Some of these bridge layouts are also mentioned in the book "Dark Mirror" by Diane Duane. But they are of an Imperial Enterprise much similar to the "Yesterday's Enterprise". With a much darker, somber layout with MANY more consoles with emphasis on weapons. And the Captain's chair, plush and more like a throne than a chair. The bulkheads on Yesterday's Enterprise are also cruder, with true emphasis on a battleship (no comforts simply function) and an all seeing, all observant Captain with all instruments and tech within his visual reach. That is why the chair is much more elevated. The uniform you mention was worn by many ancient and even later day European and American troops. Its is a belt/weapon lanyard combination typical of British Redcoats which is quite fitting with the red uniforms of Federation high command. You could call it a Baldrick, similar to what Worf wears and since the Federation was fighting for it's freedom from the Klingons, quite appropriate.

    Potentially controversial opinion but the Voyager Bridge was probably my favourite Star Trek Bridge so far. I felt there was a bit more logic to its layout having ops and tactical in large workstations toward the back, engineering and science to the side and a big panel for con at the front. To me it made all of the stations seem more important and capable of controlling a starship compared to the Enterprise which had relatively small workstations and drew all the focus to the captain and commander.

    Out of all the bridges we've seen, the Enterprise D bridge (and its variants) is my favourite, and I think the warmer colour tones and organic curves is why. The cooler silver and chrome colours alienated me slightly as designs like the Voyager are good, but not somewhere I wanted to go. I would love to serve on the Enterprise D, but not the NX or the Voyager.
    To be picky, I'm not fond of bridge designs with steps. They're useful to showcase alternative versions as shown here, but Voyager should have realistically had people tripping up and down all the time in battles or when in turbulence.

      What I like about the D bridge is you look at it from the screen POV you can see everyone. It's like a band. Picard is the lead singer with is backups on either side. Data and Wesley are on guitar and base and worf is on a reset on drums. Well geordy has his back turned on keyboard but he has his engineering.
      I like the materials used in Voyager more but look at the screen POV. Paris covered Janeway and chekotay. Kim and tuvok are in weird cages and torez isn't even on screen, I don't think I ever even got a good look at the engineering console.

    I wonder how they did the painting, especially with the wooden ark. I assume they added some colored foil? Would be cheap and easy to remove.

    Well, maybe not the SAME, there's the two side chairs and there doesn't seem to be a stair set but the side consules are still there and it's brighter in the movie than in the episode.

    All Good Things isn't an alternate future. It's just as much a fantasy created by a lonely alien, this time Q. You can tell because Geordi is married to Leah Brahms (who, as we know, was already married to someone else) and because the landlady from Time's Arrow is Data's housekeeper. Q is just making stuff up based on what he can read from the crew's minds.
