If there an open spot on deck there needs to be an AA gun there.
They were facing Kamikaze after all so they put every 40mm Bofors, 20mm Oerlikons and 127mm MK12 dual purposes gun (watch Naval Legend: North Carolina for more infomation on the MK12)
@@meow-pf8uz Japanese planes in general was the reason. Given most of the big fleet action where between carries. Kamikaze came a problem more toward the end of fight.

The Eagle unions high AA can be thanked to the US military’s fear of enemy aircraft in genral. The US military put AA guns everywhere, on everything, even supply trucks, and the USN was no exception. After Pearl Harbor, the USN became all to aware of how dangerous CV’s could be and spent a massive amount of resources to counter this threat, stuff like the VT fuse are results of this. I could be wrong but this is what I understand.
Tbh after being bombed a lot of times, i can understand why they would try countering it a lot.
When I first started looking at ships I wanted a few months ago, Minnie was high on the list for Heavy Cruisers. Now, though, She may not have as much of a spot after getting so many more ships, as I can fill the role she would have a bit easier. You did make an excellent case for her as a solo Vanguard for farming and clearing, so maybe when she comes back. Good review!

One this to say about the Video, the Reason why USN/USS Cruisers have high AA Output is because the Cruisers were built with high AA Protection in mind and served as AA Vanguards in Fleets, especially during the Pacific Campaign, as What WW2 History Show us, Wars Fought in the Pacific rely heavily or mostly on Aircraft from Carriers, the Pacific Campaign is where the Age of Battleship Warfare starts to die after all. After Pearl Harbor, Cruisers where Made with Armaments to Counter Japanese Planes, and Later on Have Dedicated AA Cruisers, Like the Atlanta-Class, and Cleveland-Class and prolly more, and Since World War 2 AA Vanguard Roles are a Must for Cruisers Today, such as the US Ticonderoga Class Cruisers, with the Aegis, which boost their AA Defense Further.

I really like Minneapolis as she was the main Eagle Heavy cruiser I used for XP farming for Saint-Louis.

I started playing during the Glorious event and did not participate because I was too low leveled, but other than birmingham & Le Triomphant, I got every event ships and definitely want the rerun of the ships. (already got yukikaze from light build, still need the cranes tho)
well eventhough she has good skill set and above avg stats, she's not part of the glorious german engineering ironblood therefore she cannot be buffed by bismarck and her tech is inferior so i'll pass

Good news is that we are having Mikasa event this month
minnie's skill that heals her is a reference to a damage she obtained in the solomon islands, like the front 5m or so of her bow was torn off by a mine/torpedo, she immediately sailed back to an australian port for a temporary repair then headed back to pearl harbour on hawaii for full repair

A fleet I commonly use for 1:1 is Bismarck with the "Certificate of Sponsorship" Item and Minneapolis, the item when equipped by Bismarck decreases the effect of "Out of ammo DMG debuff has on the main fleet. With this you still have a main fleet and a vanguard that do considerable damage.
Minne (not Minekaze), one of my first SR's, and I still use her in my main fleet to this day. Wonderful cruiser for me personally, even if I don't have any particular reason to give why that is so. I just like her I guess.

Now, you may know this already, but just in case you and others don’t, the reason that US ships in AzurLane have higher than normal AA stats is due to American Warships having a special proximity fuse AA shell on their 38 caliber 5 inch guns. This meant that the shells would explode just short and a certain distance around enemy aircraft, making it much easier to shoot down or damage enemy aircraft. This AA shell was so important and revolutionary that the US navy didn’t declassify it until long after the end of WWII. Almost every US ship had 38 caliber 5 inch guns, so as a result they also get better AA than other nation’s ships due to the proximity fuse shell.

Last time I was this early, Minneapolis was still called Washington
I don't use her as often as I do my Eagle Union light cruisers. Her stats haven't held up consistently for me, so I have to either buff her damage and survivability, and I have yet to max her skills to improve her overall performance.
Thanks for the build guide though. It was helpful to see a visual aid.
It would seem the old event ships are to become normal pool builds in the near future. I cant wait. Bismarck, Minneapolis, Massachusetts and the list goes on.

As an Minneapolis user my self as well I personally prefer the washing machine and a fire extinguisher. Just to deal with less burm damage also goof oil deficiency team is tirpitz, Minneapolis, and unicorns high level treat level safe trust its amazin low for 11-4 onward

Once per fleet engagement.
Exactly as the comment mentioned.
Each fight the fleet does, she can proc that skill...so she could constantly proc that to keep her health up if necessary.

The one thing I dislike about her healing skill is that the heal is very slow and doesnt heal her immediately, so in some situations the skill could proc at the end of the battle, but you can't take advantage of the heal and even withthe skill, she can be squishy, especially in late game, still pretty ok though
Actually I use her in the blueprint grind fleet throwing her solo on 8 to 11 as ghosts clearly lack survivability and eugen lacks AA ( also I hate sandy ) with some lvl 80+ backfleet needing exp or just with August von Parcival works like a charm.
Also her wedding dress is just............ DAAAAAAAAAMN

You forgot that using the AP gun + full limit break is pretty good too! She can fire the gun 6 times! That's 12 salvo in a few second! Also her skill helps that hellish reload! I love her! She's already max level for me. 😂 😂

just a FYI, no serious player would use Prinz Eugen as sure she's tanky.... and that's it. Better choices would be Hipper, Portland Kai, Zara. I do wonder if you have plans on updating some of the videos as their age shows rather clearly. But 99% good job is still good.
The main thing I'd update is showing lvl 100 -> 120 stats. Those can give a better view with the newer mechanics and increased level cap.
@@Hawk2zer0 that is a big thing for some CAs who will start gaining among other things, noticeable amounts of evasion near 120. I'd have to go through the older videos to see what'd exactly need to update.

beaver badge for minneapolis? NOPE. I prefer to pair her with Charles Ausburne with her beaver badge than to minneapolis solo carry

how exactly is mogami a dps character? more tanky than anything.
her gun/torp efficiencies suck
Main Gun @ 125% is the average efficiency (highest I think I've seen is 160% - on our glass cannon HMS CA Suffolk), she barely beats Minneapolis' firepower stat
The Torpedoes are a tad low if not average (180% is the highest I've seen) and her stat isn't bad either...we're also talking heavy cruisers here...they aren't torpedo masters (for the most part)
She has Main Gun Mount +1 thanks to the retrofit and torpedoes (but can't choose between secondary gun or torps like London)
She has full firepower to temporarily increase her damage output by a decent amount every 20 seconds
She takes less AP damage, so there's a little tankiness to that, but Portland still beats her there (mostly by health pool)
If you are clever with your torpedoes, then you can take advantage of Suppression Fire which permanently (well for the fight I believe) raise her FP (and that can stack 3 times)
Basically she's Portland, but take away ~15% health and add ~15% firepower, as well as skills that add to her damage output

@@Hawk2zer0 Also if you're looking for a glass cannon rather than suffolk, I think london with all FP auxilary and dd guns equipped is probably higher dps and more tanky than suffolk. with DD guns equipped and fire control radar on both slots london basically gets double the effectiveness from equipment

Phoenix is cheaper if oil cost is a worry.
Minneapolis will dish out more damage so fights shouldn't last as long.
you could also use both if you want...but depends on how you want to run things. (Oil efficiency vs time efficiency)
