The single most relatable video of all time. This is every home project. Do what it takes to get it done. 20 things go wrong in the process and it's never quite what you pictured. Perfect!
rachet straps and a big ass ladder
I have never built something that turned out how I first pictured it. It’s ALMOST always been better
When you went to take off the motor, I had the thought hoping you had everything disconnecting. Having it still be connected twice is hilarious
I saw all them wires and fuel line and thought the same. I just went through this same thing 😆
Glad to see you give the crispy some love!!! This is a boat that most of us grew up fishing out of 🤙
Its all you need, ive got livescope and spotlock on mine
LFG and Flair should have a contest to see who has the most tolerant wife.🤣
Lunkerstv just bought a damn ambulance 😭😂
Bruh flair bought a whole nuclear bunker lol
@@jackbaker374 He also has a newish wife.
Flaires already bought and sold that bunker. He just purchased a giant newspaper facility that he's now modify to be his beef cake jerky Warehouse, homeboy bought a brand new excavator not that long ago, and literally just bought a giant Chevy 4500 box truck for his beef jerky. He is out of control. But honestly he knows it takes money to make money and he's doing just that
Not part of the squad but does some collaborations, Matt aka Demolition bought an entire abandoned health spa.
Never comment but just wanna finnally say thanks. Your content is always super informative and easy to watch. Love your homestead activities just as much as I do your hunting and fishing. You’re a great outdoors man father and husband. A true role model. God bless and can’t wait to see how much better the crispy collector runs!
I've been watching my share 'Jon Boat Transformation' videos for a while now,
And I gotta say this is one of my Favorites.. Especially when it came to the flooring you chose,. Keeping it nice & simple with the Self adhesive rubber mat flooring. 😃
Looking good bud!! ✌
Love these type of videos, LFG. Super relatable to myself and a lot of other folks I'm sure. Love it.
Dude, that was a fantastic job on that jon boat. So simple, practical and not expensive. Even if a person needs to buy the trolling motor and buy some of the extras, still does not come anywhere near to buying an expensive kayak or boat for that matter.. great job..
Oh yeah, there's gonna have to be more of these Crispy Collector videos. I just got a jon boat and need to show it a little love so I can take it out. Thanks for the ideas.
The crispy collector videos are my favorite out of all of yours by farrrrrr!!
Hope it works out!! This is how boat stuff goes for me also...LOL. Looks so much better!
Those bottom bolts are mainly going to keep it from lifting up if you hit an object in the water or bouncing on the trailer going down the road. They won’t see much load under power. The clamps will take most of that. If you ultimately don’t feel confident in it, check out the adjustable jack plates from Vance Manufacturing. They have some manual models that are not too much more than the mini jacker and they should bolt right up using the original holes you plugged. Your motor should mount to it too with no drilling since it has the standard bia pattern the bigger motors all have.
Love the decking...will be putting solid grey down in mine! (I think with the camo...I'd be afraid of losing hooks and finding them with my feet.)
Never thought about losing the hooks, but you make a great point. Thanks for the idea!
Great video! Get some input from your friends before starting a big project like this......a couple beers, weekend, talking about fishing and your boat upgrades. Expert advice really!!! 😝 Remember that dad's help is usually free......and it is only sketchy if it doesn't work! Have a great week gang!
Awesome vid Justin. Loved the step-by-step and camera angles.
look forward to seeing the results on the jack plate!
I will love to see more of the Jon boat builds
Long time fan, never left a comment, but appreciate the content and getting back to your roots. Love the Jon boat videos. Always a place for a little Crispy tin. Would love to see her on a river one day. Jack plate should help skinny water fishing.
This video is just what I needed I’ve been messing with my jon boat lately as well
its looks sweet
Did similar to my 13’ Whaler. I ended up using the CMC riser angles. Worked out nicely mounting my new 30hp
love the jon boat build!
yesss dude, every john boat needs these upgrades
Love the crispy collector. 5 hundo well spent!!!
23:26 never had a more relatable moment than this 😂
I work on my boats an I love seeing other upgrade an talk prices ! Another dope A video bro!
Videos with the crispy collector are the best
Did the exact same thing with the mini jacker with my long shaft 35HP. No issues it’ll hold it great
That’s a sweet boat man. I want an all weld about that size for my next boat. Just like that simple. Jack plate some foam, and trolling motor
If I am looking at that set up correctly, I think you could make a new laminated plywood block that is longer to catch the lower bolts fully. Good upgrades!
Nicely done brotha!
just what im lookin for right now rackley
Hi from mike A. From LA. CA. this was a good video. Very informative and lots Of knowledge on upgrading a boat for less than 500$. I would love to see more upgrades. Most of all some more catch and cooks and camp outs.
Awesome boat upgrade
You ought to build you a chain hoist either mobile or off a strong tree branch.
Also, carpeting (or foam I guess to an extent) a boat I usually buy basically 2x the length of the boat because you’ll never get your lids and deck done out of the same length of material running the same direction no matter how much planning you do.
Great video
LOVE TO SEE ALL YOUR VIDEOS YOUR THE MAN OF GOOGAN FOR ME
You and your wife's relationship is beautiful brother. Love the content and I hope i get the chance to fish with you sometime in the future
your living my dream justin, go catch em pal!
Great video. God bless all here.
That’s awesome
Weird im picking up a 1032 this week for a run and gun set up for hunting. Seems you always put out videos that are relevant! Great updates.
Whoever choose the song @ 9:13
Good choice.
OSG is a keeper for sure. Got some of that country in her.
Hell of a video nice job!!!!!!!!
Awesome video buddy and definitely some very very good upgrades also!!! I don’t think I’d worry too much about the jack plate!! I’d definitely just keep an eye on every thing for the first three or four times out and make sure everything stays tight and doesn’t move around on you!!! If everything works good good, stays tight I’d definitely run it and don’t worry about it!! I think if you have any issues it would be stress around the top of the jack plate at where the jack plate sticks above the back transom!! I could see a little bit extra stress in that area!! I’d definitely keep an eye out for any cracking and just keep an eye out for any cracks!!! I actually made myself a homemade jack plate for the back of my 1969 18’ flat bottom boat!! I’m the third owner of it and the original buyer of my boat used it less than 7 times and sat inside a barn when not being used!! Another guy ended up buying it to just flip but I was able to get it for free!!! It is absolutely leak free and in amazing shape for how old it is!! Since I got it I put a 24 volt trolling motor with 85lbs thrust and a 35 Hp Johnson out board on it and a steering wheel council and I absolutely love it!! Oh and the 35 Hp is a long shaft and that is why I had to make my own jack plate!! I’ve been running it for 7 or 8 years now and with no issues yet!!! Awesome video buddy and I definitely can’t wait to see your first outing with all the up grades for sure!! Where was you able to get all the sea decking from because that is definitely my next upgrade that I definitely want to do to mine also!!
There should be a lifting eye on top of the motor. A strong horizontal tree branch and a come a long to remove the motor. Too late for this project but for future reference it would save y'alls backs and other body parts. Great project though. Really enjoy all of your vids. Keep up the good work
OSG is a saint... No way around it...
This is a great video that shows how to work on your boat when you have no idea of what you are doing and have no experience in doing it, used to have these boats come into the shop all the time (Broken) and owners saying well it worked for a month or so before it broke. I knew things would get worse when he drilled the transom at the wrong angle to fill old engine bolt holes. I know you tried but as Clint Eastwood said ' A man has to know his limits" and Sir you have more than exceeded yours here, best of luck with that nightmare job.
Agreed, do things right the first time. The life you save might be your wife!!!!
Hold on tight to OFG. WOW now that’s a good tough lady right there. 👊🏻
Now that’s a filthy frog!🐸
looks good!
relatable af!! love seeing soem obtainable stuff on the channel. 10k live scope displays are cool, but most of us will never have a chance to fish with one.
I do a lot of boat upgrades and sell them. Sometimes I buy an old boat and fix it, sometimes people hire me to do theirs. I’ve done multiple Jon boats, v-boats, refinished a bass boat for a guy.
It’s made me tons of extra money in the winter (I run saltwater charters half the year), and someone is always looking for a brand new old boat. I made some great 14’ old V-hulls for people. It’s a fantastic hobby.
Tiny boat build’s are going to get you views now days keep er going
Heck yeah!
Fishing isn't just about fishing. It's nice to see some mechanical action from you man. Now it's time for a graph and it will be complete
LFG, you could have used a wex wheel for your drill. It's made to remove sticky stuff on areas. Also, you could have gone to an auto store and got rubber washers for the holes. Great video!
Man she is a trooper! Cool video with some great ideas.
More vids like this please!!!!
Lfg would make a great golf or pro bass fishing Announcer.
LFG I want to see the first time you take it out.💪🏾
So what brand flooring did he use. I looked in the description. Thanks
You should let me trick it out, brotha! $500 budget might be a little tough tho... 😆 🤣 For real tho holla at me!
That is really pushing the limit! 🙏🤞
Get an On the Fly jack plate. Most budget friendly option for a tinny
I’d like to see you try drifting with planer boards for some big blue cats. My favorite fishing lately
Man that thing is nice
love the video man! but why did you get a long shaft engine and not a short shaft? just curious the reason lol
I have that same jack plate on my jon boat with a 20hp honda. Works great and money well spent.
Why not just get a short shaft engine .. would save on weight aswell.. most dealers u can just take it in and trade for one..
Watching you two fight that massive 25hp motor has me completely convinced that an E-propulsion electric motor is the way to go for me! I have a lot less experience that you with this type of work. So do like the simplicity of your mod which is something that I might be able to do as well. Thanks for sharing!
Dream boat
Wd40 is a great adhesive remover. Just gotta make sure to use a degreaser afterwords.
It was awesome seeing you today at Lowe’s 👋🔥
OSG is a beast 💪
Lookin good brotha!
Put livescope on it and side imaging and sell your big bass boat. Lol
When you repowered the boat. Why didn't you get a short shaft motor?
I was thinking the same thing
It was the middle of covid... probably couldn't find one.
If he had taken a motor with a short shaft, he would not have had any problem, all this work, costs and holes would not have been necessary.
Big prop's deal, ocean spoon girl. You're a beast you held that up while he took his time to get around there , ma'am , that's crazy
LFG: Please continue to improve this boat. Fun to watch and useful information. Just two questions. 1. Does Merc make a 20 hp short shaft motor? 2. Would using a 20hp shot shaft have avoided a significant amount of difficulty?
Depends on the year and size of the motor but a lot of the bigger motors have a lifting mount plate. Others have a threaded eye hook that threads into the center of your flywheel over the flywheel bolt. You could just use a good wench and pulley to lift it or rig up a manual hand chain hoist.
Damn good job
Crazy, I just went through this with my new "Swamp Donkey) needed a shallow runner. I ended up having to drop the motor back down two" because she was a wheely queen 😂 just a 9.9 merc on a 12' Tracker Jon. Drought conditions on the lower Colorado River. Desperate conditions req desperate measures 👌 But I can still fish, skinny water or not 🎉
That’s the exact boat I want and need and damn watching this project makes me want one even more 🦅😄
MORE,MORE,MORE!!!!!!!
Take a look at On The Fly jackplates. I just got the small manual version for my 1448 with 25 Johnson. Best purchase ever for my boat. Such a well made piece of equipment. It's rated to 30 hp, but I'm not sure yours would work with the basic plate since it's got trim. Also that 25 looks like an absolute UNIT! Cant believe how much of a struggle that looked compared to me moving around my old Johnson by myself. Big difference there.
When you take the boat to get the front deck weld fixed have the fab shop look at welding those holes from the motor as well, just had to get the holes on the back of my John boat welded after purchasing a new motor
Just put the same flooring in my 1648 jet jon, it's crazy how cool it stays in the sun on 90 degree days and added traction for the duck dogs. Needed 3 rolls of it tho
Build a jackplate out of 6" aluminum angle, maybe a 6 foot stick. it's just some cuts and holes
Great video, that poor transom🤣
I need a video on how it is doing with the jack plate!!
U gotta make sure to have everything unhooked brother. Especially when wife is helping.
Great stuff foam… works like a charm. Great stuff, Bolt, silicone. Or great stuff, rivet, silicone for small stuff.
Nice video. What brand of deck mat did you use? Think I'm going to put some down in my boat.
I love that he realizes what an asset OSG is
Nice job - turned out looking great! I would have been more comfortable filling those transom holes with a small plate of aluminum and some Marine 5200. That stuff is 100% permanent. But hey if you ever need to pull those bolts and re-seal in a few years, not the end of the world. Keep up the good work!
Brotha... you've got one bad-ass lady... Congrats my friend. And...oh yeah, nice video...
SAFETY CABLE FROM MOTOR TO BOAT!!!! Way that is setup that is a must have!
Harbor Freight engine hoist is your friend when doing heavy lifting! I even use mine to lift the front of the lawnmower up to change or sharpen blades. A quality step bit is your friend when drilling sheet metal... much cleaner holes.
I would recommend using Citrus Strip for future carpet removal. I replaced the carpet on my bass boat and didn't discover the Citrus Strip until after I tried every harsh chemical and electric tool the world had to offer. When I used the Citrus Strip it cut the removal time of 15 year old carpet and glue down significantly.
You really need a short shaft motor
This, truly, looks like one of my "projects". It's nice to know I'm not the only hillbilly who lives by the, "oh, it'll be fine", mentality...I thoroughly enjoyed this video ALOT!!!
