Maplemotors ....Another affordable gem. Thank you for your hard work and fair priced opportunities!!
Thank you
Looks amazing
A bunch of years ago there was a Maverick Grabber 4-speed for sale...dad opened the hood then shut it..he said you won't be getting this one...I opened the hood and found a 429 under the hood!
Dad protected you from a monster you might not have been ready for 😂😂😂
@@TerryByrdJr You are probably right
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Considering 4 speeds and 429s where never available in Mavericks would be someone had to do a hell of a job engineering to make it fit. Most of the time it’s half assed and breaks first time down the track.
I grew up with Mavericks and know them very well. Where this might appear to be a nice example with good paint/interior, after looking at the pictures on the Maple Motors website, there’s a bunch of things that give me pause - rust through on the underside, original paint showing from behind the rear bumper, front fenders were poorly cut to fit the new bumper, inside trunk not painted, no drivers mirror. It’s by no means mint, I would call it good, or maybe just below.
Its a $3500 car. Period.
By Ohio standards, that car is REALLY clean.
@@donreinke5863 they were going for $3000 brand new in 1973,that's what my dad paid for.The Lincoln continental goes for around $6000 and the Pantera's goes for 8 grand.
Not only that, it is not a ‘74, in fact it is not even a ‘73.

I havent seen a Maverick in years!! Thats gorgeous!
I'm an old man, I've seen thousands of Ford mavericks I've never seen one this nice. Thanks for sharing.
After bucking hay all day, back in the late 70's, Terry, in his Maverick with a 302 took off and we were following him in a Plymouth Roadrunner with a 383. He took off and left us in the dust. At 120mph we still couldn't catch him. It wasn't until that long legged Roadrunner was hitting 130mph that we started gaining on him.
This is the best deal I’ve seen yet
I'm a Bowtie guy, but I always loved these pocket rockets. Had a friend who had a blue one with a 302 and 4 spd in HS in the 70's. It was a beastly beauty.
I'm betting some of your younger viewers are seeing a three on the tree for the first time.
4 speeds were never available on US mavericks, for some reason only the Mexican and Brazilian models for the 4 speeds. They also got the 4bbl carbs, US only had 2 available.
I didn't think much of these, when they were new. I know now that the Maverick was one of Ford's better ideas.
I love the 3 on the tree manual transmissions! That was fairly common with the Maverick and one of the last cars that did it
Nick you absolutely have it nailed on the camera POV driving perspective. Great job.
Thank you
The most HONEST car review on CZcams. Nice example of a '74 with small bumper restomod. The flaws are not uncommon, and the car is unique being a 3-on-tree V-8 of later vintage. Not bad!
I am a Chevrolet fan and a Chevelle man but will be the first to say I love those old Mavericks. Best looking car ford ever made, great video Nick and good looking Maverick!!!
The Cougar was a little bit nicer. Still Maverick was underapreciated
Well thats is definitely an arguable opinion....plenty of people, including me would disagree with the Maverick being the best car ford ever made...as a matter of fact, that sounds quite ridiculous! However, this particular Maverick was done right..and I love the 3 on the tree..great car!
That’s a really nice car for the money, had a 72 w/302 in High school they are great little cars.
Maverick never had 4 speed from factory. The car pictured unless they changed all the fenders and stuff is a 70 or 71. 73 they went to the big bumpers in front and 74 had the big ones in back. Grabber package had "hood scoops". But still a nice looking car. I put a 10 bolt top loader in mine with the 302. Went pretty good, didnt stop worth a dang on drum brakes.
this is a '74 with small bumper mod. The glove box is the give-away.
The Mexican and Brazilian models did have 4 speeds as an option, as well as 4bbl
Carbs.
I remember when they were everywhere...miss those days
Mavericks didn't get much respect back in the day (except of you were Glidden or Rouch) but what a sweet little car this is! Gotta love the three on the tree too. Easy to convert to a floor shift too if you so desire. This is a great car for someone to get into a classic without spending a lot of money, It won't last long on your lot at that price.
I had a 71 maverick grabber back in the 80's, the rust ate it alive.Another great car built with cheap steel.
I have always loved the body lines on the Maverick
My brother had a Maverick and put a 351 Cleveland in it! With wheelly wheels on the rear he ran 9.80s in the quarter mile! It was a Bad Street Car! It’s odd seeing the three on the tree! I like this car! There’s a tremendous amount of rust underneath this car! Wonder if it was a flood car?
Damn.. absolutely a buy right now car, very rare and a shift on the column. So so so many hop ups you can do, that 302 under the hood sounds pretty healthy, wow what a fun little ride. 👍👍😎
Needs a coyote motor and a 5 speed .
Had a 72 maverick with three on the tree. Had a 170 six banger. Fun car. Nice 👌
170 was a great motor. I had a 1970 maverick with the 170ci great on gas
Did 74 still have the skinny bumpers? It looks like the 71 we had except for the 302. I think we had the 170.
This is a '72, at the newest... lol
My 74 has big ugly bumpers. It probably has a 70-73 bumper and valance conversion
Sorry 70-72. 73 hand skinny rear bumper, but not the same skinny front front bumper. Sadly mine has both ugly bumpers since I have a 74
This was my very first car when I was a teenager McGavock High School Nashville Tennessee accept my was a 3-speed on the floor not on the tree great vehicle congratulations to whoever owns this vehicle much respect
Our first family car in 1984 given to my dad as starting gift…Underestimated at the time. Now I wish I could have it and restore it.
I haven't had a three on the tree since my 65 Fairlane back in 72. Had it in a 56 Ford in 69.
Had to drive one for awhile that was hit by a train...could park it around a pole. Lol
Looks like a mako paint job. The whole underside is rust, its solid but really needs to go on a rotissorie, I am sure some one will buy it as is but no rear view mirror on the drivers door is a no no.
I used to own a bright red '74 Maverick Grabber... Had a 302 and 3 speed on the floor.
I paid $1500 for it about 1985 or so.
Wish I still had it.
It seems like a pretty nice car, it looks good with the American racing wheels with that paint. and it sounds good, but I would have to swap out that three on the tree for a floor shifter. I have driven quite a few cars with column shifters. and it gets old after a while. Mavericks make really good drag cars because they transfer the weight to the rear really good.
very, very nice. The model that almost put an end to Mustangs. Great color somebody chose and that engine sounds plenty healthy.
Thank you
Nick, has the 74 bumpers been swapped out for 72 or older model bumpers? If I remember correctly the 74 had the bigger bumpers that stuck out further. I think it’s an easy swap and I’ve seen it done by Gas Monkey Garage.
I wondered the same thing, we had a 73 with the same smaller bumpers, 1974 had larger and uglier ones.
74 Maverick had the big bumpers like the Mercury Comet
You're absolutely right. I had 2 in Hs. This is a 72, the bumper and brackets were a b**ch to convert a 74
Richard Rawlings is a fool. It's not an easy swap...
Should name it 'Chip'..
my cousin still has his dads original 67 Cougar and his moms original 71 Maverick, both are V8s.
One of my favorite cars was a 1975 Maverick Grabber.
One of the most underrated and underrepresented body styles. That was a pony car if you ask me. The Grabber with a 4spd... Full muscle car.
That 1974 Ford Maverick almost looks like a small 1967 Chevy Camaro.
You don't see standard transmissions in cars much anymore, especially with the shifter on the column.
With a Hurst shifter that's one fun little car...
Yay Chrome bumpers. Just needs a floor shifter.
Such an underrated little car.. my buddy lives in hendersonville.. u can drop it off there for me lol
That is a beautiful car and the only ford i would own.
I feel like I missed out on automotive history without driving a 3 on the tree 🌲... guess I will have to settle for my excursion 7.3 .. I will show myself out good video nick 🇺🇸
You missed nothing .
On the outside fantastic. Had one with a 390 4 speed. Interior Had a lot of plastic
That won't be there long. I haven't scene 1 since high school. Beautiful!!
We had one in the mid seventies as a daily driver. I’ve loved them ever since.
My dad had the same car, though it was the Mercury Comet; 74, 302, auto, and it was awesome. It sort of became mine in around 87 but was gone in 88 as the motor mounts were done. Great car!
Nice!! Always was a nice looking car!! 302 under the hood, now that's a quick machine!! Maverick Grabber was nice also!!
I want to thank all of the previous owners for resisting the temptation to install a floor shifter ! And yes those cars are pretty light. The book I have states around 2800 pounds and even that sounds heavy considering the length of the car. I will tell you this…. It is light enough in the rear for me to be able to grab the rear bumper and lift it about an inch off the ground 👍🏻
This is a gem
The best part about that car is that someone took those big ugly box bumpers off and put the smaller ones from earlier years on it. I had one of those with a 351W and a 4 speed. It would pull the front wheels off the ground through 2 gears. Yep, a lot of courthouse time with that one! Light as a feather. Think early Chevy II weight.
hehehehehehe NO IT DIDNT
I remember when the Mavericks were new in 70 and 71 and they were $2,000
My sister had a 71/72 blue maverick she drove thru nursing school then traded for a 73 brown comet. They were good cars no problems
That car is in a Portland tn cruise in video with no bumpers
That's a good looking Maverick there is no doubt I send everybody that I can think of to Maple motors because they keep telling me they're looking for one particular car I said if it's old and they don't have it more than likely they can find it y'all keep up the good work I appreciate everything you do God bless your heart
Thank you very much
I had a '70 Grabber 3 on the tree! this video really brings back memories!
Nice, but the bumpers are not for a 74. Are you sure is not a 70 or 71?
I love your channel sure brings back memories!!! Grew up in Southern California in the 70s!!!😎
1974 came out with extended front and rear bumpers for safety. I know this because my Aunt had one.
That little Maverick is a gem !! Somebody definitely scored 😎
Nice,I wonder if the guys from Oakland saw this, they love Mavericks out that way.
We here 💯
Had a friend with a 71 with a 302 with a C4. It was a sleeper and very tight and well built.
That car will sell fast
a very nice ride, I do like the 3 on the tree, she not perfect but in great shape for its age, nicely priced and dont see it lasting long.
Sold before I could get to it. I ended up getting another one, but this this is amazing
Dang that's the most handsome Mav I've ever seen ..beautiful paint.
Thank you
You've obviously never seen mine.
I Remember My Neighbor back in the Day, Mid 70's Dropping a 351 Cleveland with a 4 Speed in one, He Named it "Hole Shot", DAMN That Ting was Fast!
So far, I've seen your videos on all the-little-cars- that- could from the Big 3. Now I'm waiting for the AMC Hornet.
'74 Mavericks had the big "safety" bumpers on 'em--this would be a '72, at the latest, as that type of bumper was implemented across Ford's whole automobile platform for the 1973 model year...
If you weren't so clueless, you would know that lots of Maverick owners convert to early bumpers on their '74-'77 models.
Mavericks were awesome!
If that’s a 74 model, the big fat 5 mph bumpers have been replaced with 1971 bumpers. My father bought a brand new red and black 71 Maverick grab her with a 302. It was the first one in the area if not the first one in the state. We didn’t see another one with a V8 for months
OMG ! Nick ! You know now ya gotta get us one of the 72 Vegas's with an old school 327 and Holley 650 . thanx for the best vids on YT .
I always did like the Ford Maverick.. this one is really nice.
i want this maverick,i use to have a 73 250 straight 6 was a fun car i miss it
I've never driven a three on the tree, looks easy enough though.
I grew up with the Maverick.I learned how to drive on my parents Maverick.I pass my DMV driving test on our Maverick.I don't think that's a 74 year model because it doesn't have a 5 mile per hour crash bumper. The 5 mile/hour crash bumper was mandated in 1974.
My first car bought it from my uncle for 900 bucks. Great car slick lines, I miss that car
What is with the pipes pointed up onto the bottom of the car ?
I would have bought that beauty.
I know you love what you do for a living..
Strange, every 1974 Maverick I’ve ever seen had big bumpers on it. This looks like a ‘73 and earlier to me
Nice! Needs a good undercoating job, but otherwise, it's a sweetie. For the price, won't last long because someone is going to grab it quick.
Why did they do away with the 3 one the tree??
This is a rare car for sure.
With a 302 in it definitely a sale. Nice. Wow nice job on the camera which made me remember there was an issue with the gas tank placement in the mavericks. Don't worry I won't tell no one.
Also the Pinto!
Enough about the bumpers, you can put the early bumpers on them.
Nice car, my friend here in New Zealand has a 1970 Ford Maverick. A very rare car here.
That would be a perfect starter classic car. I'm going to run some numbers hopefully I'll be giving you guys a call.
$12K for 1 of what can't be more than a handful that aren't reduced to a pile of rust in a junkyard?
Seems like a bargain.
We have Mavericks in Brazil in early 70's, but here there isn't the bull horns because for Brazilians it means a husband which was betrayed by his wife. Cheers from Brazil
I’m from Brazil, and back on the 80’s my father has one gold GT... I want this thing!!!
Odd you should say that. I had a buddy who's old lady ran off with his best friend in his Maverick
The maverick is now a focus with a bed
Woooow you dont see these anymore !!!! and a column shift Wow!
love this one you dont see these like you use to looks clean
Fun! 1st car I sold was a 72' Maverick!
I learned to drive on a three on the tree.
Good chance you pull up at the car cruise night with that you be the only one, body looks like it's never been apart, probably a really solid car 👍
torque thrust rims, nice paint, rims match the paint & they aint cheap
Making a Chevy guy want a Maverick. That 3 on the teee is what makes it cooler than normal.
Wow, great deal. Maverick's I've seen are going for way more than that.
A nice driver at an affordable price. Not a bad little Maverick.
You leave me breathless, Maverick!
The Ford Maverick was one of Ford's cheaper cars. Those who couldn't afford a Mustang usually bought a Mavetick.
