  • Woodturning - In this video I demonstrate how to finish turn a cherry and walnut natural edge bowl. I also show how to repair the bark if it starts to come off.     The latest entry in the Sprague Dictionary of Advanced Woodturning is WOOGER! This is the easily fixable companion to the more common BOOGER which is a defect that makes you want to pull your chin hair out. Beautiful work, Jim! We lift a glass to the King and Queen of North American hardwoods!

    They are beautiful. Wood with tiny flaws is just proving it’s real. Real is always better than fake. Somehow you take a very real piece of wood and make it more real, not fake looking. Whether it is all wood, wood with natural inlay, or wood with resin.

    Beautiful!! So I had to concentrate and think a lot about how it is possible for the border to have that shape.., but after a while of creating a tree in my mind, cut it in different ways and turn it here and there, I finally figure it out LOL😂 You will call me white collar and you are right 🤪😂

    Truly beautiful bowls 🥣 black walnut has a presence that u can't take ur eyes off, it's just so luxurious & the pale, rich cherry is like gold & l really like the coffee & thinset trick & it's lovely to see such big natural edge bowls 😊
    l wondered why u buffed in-between waterlox coats & now l completely understand, so every piece turns out perfect 😀
    I heard on our news tonight here in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 that we & New Zealand 🇳🇿 are now rotating 400 fire men & women to Canada 🇨🇦 to help quench those fires that are decimating & destroying ur beautiful forests, praying for them to be stopped, for more rain & the smoke to clear 🙏🌧 🌬

    I love the purple in the walnut. I was introduced to chatoyance in minerals, and it kinda blows my mind it happens in wood. I love that artists like you make it so beautiful.
    I'm not remotely surprised folks don't realize just how big the Canadian provinces are, and how hard those fires are to control. My home state, Montana, is the 4th largest US state, at 380K square KM, so only a third the size of Ontario. And I'm constantly running into folks who are stunned you have to drive 3-4 hours to get to the next town. Me, I don't trust a state you can drive across in 1 day. ;-)
