I was born and raised in Mt.Shasta and it was pretty cool to have all these folk legends and weird stuff around me. Back in the 1980's and 1990's Mt. Shasta was half sixties, hippy, New Age burn outs and half blue collar mine and lumber workers and farmers, pretty much everybody got along. The hippy types came there because the mountain was seen as being on a earth energy ley line, there used to be like four different crystal and New Age shops there in that small town. I've seen strange lights in the sky and my great grandfather when he died left me a Rosicrucian book on Lemuria.

For Real! What’a disgrace the ‘Discovery’ and ‘History’ channels turned themselves into. I used to watch them when they just started as well intentioned channels with some integrity, then when the whole reality TV craze started everything went to sh**. I remember thinking “MTV, friggin ‘MUSIC television’, doesn’t even play music anymore’. I’ve cancelled my cable subscription years ago. If cable won’t give contracts to shows like this ‘The Why Files’ and channels like it with actual integrity and good content, then I got no use for cable.

I pay for CZcams Red so i don’t get stuck watching a ton of commercials and I also pay for Hulu and share a Netflix account. I told people the exact same thing about MTV & CMT. It’s all reality show that I don’t believe are truly reality, scripted to seem like better or more drama filled versions of reality maybe. History lost me when I watched a show about the first thanksgiving was actually pilgrims and aliens or Native Americans and aliens. I don’t remember which but I lost all hope for them at that point.

Sounds like you have some overly credulous family members. Being a general in the military doesn't necessarily make one immune to ridiculous crap.
Native Americans believe just about everything has spiritual or paranormal significance. Those stories were passed down and the more gullible colonists kept them alive and well.
Very simple explanation that is _almost certainly_ more accurate than lost cities, gods fighting each other, aliens and ghosts.

I grew up seeing the lenticular clouds about the mountain, they could be quite spectacular to see at sunset. Never saw any odd lights on the mountain. My grandfather as a young man herded sheep up to the high meadows of Trinity and Shasta counties in spring time. He never heard or seen a bigfoot or anything else odd while up there. Only thing my great-grandfather, grandfather and his brothers witnessed was the giant mystery airship that was travelling up the coastal Mountain range in the 1890s.

I ran a ranch up in the area near a lava tube cave in Lassen Volcanic National Park. One of our PCH through hikers stayed a few days and went down the blocked off side about a mile into the tube where no one goes and had an experience. It may help to know that the reason that part of the cave is blocked off is due to the loss of a little girl down a tube that, sadly was never recovered.
Now this guy hikes alone with bears, snakes and other such wildlife including creepy humans so his spidey senses are generally on point. He began to hear what sounded like whispers in the deafening silence and movement just beyond his flashlights path. When small rocks began to sort of rain down on him he was scared enough to turn back when his goal was to walk two miles in and sleep.
We were going to go back the next day fully prepared but for some reason that I can't recall we never did.
We had the craziest stories up there from locals and through hikers. Witches in the woods and people walking off from camp without their phones nor their wits and poofing.
The weirdest shooting stars, too. Like firecrackers.

My experience on Mt. Shasta :
I was meditating overlooking the peak from above Panther meadow (a sacred spot to the native Americans on the mountain) for an afternoon. Just as i was leaving, i had a feeling i needed to turn around to look again at the peak. Right as i did, a giant golden eagle GLIDED, not flew, from the top of the peak down the mountain slightly above me, the top of his wings only slightly above the tree tops.
Shortly after, on my next stop to Sedona Arizona (another hot spot) my host told me his name was Soaring Eagle. That place i ended up staying was a powerful spot.

When I was young, around 12 I think. My mom and I took a trip from Santa Cruz CA. to Bend OR. On our way through, we drove over the Siskiyous. However, before reaching them, around Redding, our check engine light came on. The cars engine temperature started to rise, but we had to continue. We had very little money so we couldn’t stop for the night. I remember just before going over the pass, there was an area we could see the mountain, and I saw one of those ufo shaped clouds. Before coming on this trip, my mother had told me a little about the mountain, and how it’s possible that other advanced beings could live there. So I started talking to this ship with my mind. Imaging I was sending brain waves of messages to it. Asking for its help to make sure we made it to Bend alright. I closed my eyes for about a minute and did this. All the sudden, I hear my moms voice, “the check engine light turned off!” I looked over and sure enough it was. My mom looked at me and asked what I was doing just now. I told her, and she said she was doing the same thing. Both of us talking to this ship and asking for help, I think is what did it.
We had a safe trip the rest of the way with absolutely no car troubles! We got to weed and was at a stop light. This man in truck stopped at the light next to us. He rolled down his window and said “you folks alright!?” My mom and I looked at each other and looked back at him, he then said “looks like you guys made it over the pass ok,….safe travels to Bend!” As the light turned green and he drove off. My mom and I pulled over at the gas station to ask ourselves what just happened. Who was that guy, how did he know we were going to Bend, and how did he know we were going to maybe not make it over the pass. All of it was so crazy!
    That’s my Shasta story!

Winnemucca lake are the oldest possible 50 thousand to 100 thousand years. Modoc Indians made these in wet clay that turned to rock. Never heard of Pertoglyps at Mt Shasta so not true what he stated. However along the bluff there is a very interesting petroglyph along the the Threehundred yard panel. That is the imprint of a alien three finger hand. Twice imprinted up side and then reversed. About eight inches across with nine inch fingers. I have studied tens of thousands of petroglyphs in Ten states and many tribes show a three finger effigy.

I climbed those once, when I lived in Mt. Shasta. Crazy epic 6-pitch climb. We summited in the dark and rapelled down the back side in the dark on three ropes. In hindsight, totally insane. It's interesting to note that the Castle Crags are geologically much, much. much older than the area around Mt. Shasta just on the other side of the valley.

At Mt. Shasta I was about 8 years old camping with my dad. No tent just sleeping bags and on a tarp. I woke up in the night to a loud purr. I squinted my eyes and was being sniffed out by a MT lion while my dad was sleeping. On top of that we had a real UFO experience there about 50 other people also seen. It was a huge bright ball like the sun but it would move through the sky and stop for a minute and then relocate and then it just disaapeared. It was so bright and big that it lit up the night sky like it was day time

What I find _really_ strange and out of this world is that someone supposedly finds a super interesting place full of artefacts incredíbly invaluable as both historical artifacts and objects of value made of gold (although that sound somewhat off already, considering that gold is a terrible material to use for tools and weapons) and then just decides to bury them and to never come back again. Without taking even _one_ artefact.

    • @Metal_Horror
      @Metal_Horror Před 6 měsíci +5

Yep. It makes the whole story sound like a hoax. But to be fair, I'm sure there really are people who would do that for whatever reason. Not everyone does the obvious thing or the second obvious thing, and some have agendas that require knowledge of context we don't have. So who knows.
Some people would sell off the treasures for a fortune, never telling anyone where they got it. Others would immediately contact a museum or archaeologist or something. I think it's our moral duty to have a discovery like that publicized and analyzed, but the allure of riches is very powerful. What would you do? Maybe he decided last minute not to tell anyone and plundered the treasures. Or maybe he was kidnapped and extorted by criminals, like the mob or the government.
The government is known to take things like this very serious while maintaining a public position of denial and skepticism. Far too often they'll tell us someone is a kook, a fraudster, and years later it's revealed that all the while they were spending money researching it. Take *everything* you hear from the government with a hefty dash of salt, as if that wasn't painfully obvious already.

Prior to even knowing the stories of Mt Shasta, I went thru the town Mt Shasta in 2006 on vacation and spent the night in the town. The moment I stepped out of the vehicle I felt a very good calming, peaceful energy. The last time I sensed feel good energy was when I drove into the neighborhood I currently live in. I've also picked up negative energy from an empty room. When I expressed how the room felt to my reading group they told me a short while ago two men were having a heated argument. I trust my feelings.
I also I would like to say how much I love these stories. Some would make wonderful science fiction movies or books.

In 2013, after camping for a few days on Mount Shasta, I was in a public bathroom of a grocery store there. I was looking at myself in the mirror, trying to decide which side I should wear my feather earring on.
All of a sudden, I hear an inner voice say "listen to the voice". I started hearing the most beautiful singing I have ever heard in my life. It was out of this world beautiful and I was mesmerized by it. I believe it also had the sounds of harps. I turned around to where the singing was coming from, in the corner of the bathroom. I opened the bathroom door to check if the sound was actually coming from the store but it wasn't there, it was only in the corner of the bathroom. It was so beautiful. I could see faint purple spirals where the singing was coming from.
I wanted to stay and listen but I had people waiting for me outside, so I knew I had to go. Before closing the door on the voice, I whispered to it to come with me.
A few days before this, while camping on the mountain, had found many crystals. One was a very big rose quartz. I slept with it in my tent so I wouldn't lose it. One morning I took it with me to go pee by a tree, and I put the crystal down next to me for just a moment. When I got up to leave, the crystal was gone! No one else was around me (that I could see at least).
