It melted in our mouths Simon, straight of the plant into the steamer for a few minutes.

Cracking info on the purple sprouting thanks Terry 👍
This years crop will soon be producing so will give them a feed of comfrey.

Your Purple sprouting Broccoli does look good this year, Terry. Some very nice florets.
Don't know how I beat the white fly Elly and the one plant has failed to produce a Floret on the top, but I am grateful to have that picking that went straight into the steamer on Sunday.

Nice wee harvest.
Cheers Tim, melted in our mouths.

Fab tips as ever Mr King.
Ours is ready too, didn’t pick it today but I’m looking forward to it later in the week.
The leaves are beautiful too, very tasty.
Its surprising how quickly they go over Jazz and the leaves are relatively clear of white fly.

Cracking info on the broccoli Tel 👍didn't know that. It a must vegetable in our house hold so be having a go at growing them next year. Thanks for sharing Robbo.
It's a very long term crop, but very prolific if looked after.

great video
Thank you my friend.

Terry , thankyou, im trying to grow it for the first time this year. You are star for sharing this. One of my comfreys are just sprouting up again , made me smile as have seen so much you do with the comfrey. Thanks so much.
Not always sure what to show and share Lorraine, but I am glad I started this experiment. If it helps one person to understand about this plant and how long it stays in the ground before it produces a crop I am happy.

@@terrykingsallotmentgardening well im learning so much as its only my second year having the allotment. Being unsure, these videos show me . So im very happy with the info. Thanks again.
Cheers my friend's.
Pretty windy on your plot today. Lovely sprouting broccoli 👍. My winters are too cold to overwintering these delicacies, unfortuately. Best wishes from Norway.
Cheers Benni, we are having some more unseasonal weather again and its difficult to predict what to grow for the best, this is the first good crop I have ever grown so I really enjoyed that picking on our Sunday dinner.

Hiiii....
Hello.
Terry, thank you for this. I purchased some seed for this year, have never grown it before and it does look very good. I hope that it will last here for me to have a harvest next spring. Have a great day! Catherine
It won't mind the cold you get Catherine and will produce the Florets when it feels it needs to reproduce.

I blinked for a second last year Terry and mine went to flower, boy do they ever turn to flower quickly. 🍺
Had to make this video really quickly another day some of it would have been spoiled William so regular peeks under the netting will be required. Cheers for a great video you did with Ryan a great team.

Great haverst and tips Terry. Ours is looking pretty good! I think it liked the seaweed we gave it ;)
Cheers
How are you two doing?
@terrykingsallotmentgardening hey Terry, it's been a challenging few months, but we're trying to stay positive. Colleen's Dad has continued to decline, and I'm spending most of my time with him. Garden is doing good, lots sown and looking forward to the season. Hope you and your family are well. Thanks for checking in!!
Cheers Jason

Hello Terry . 1 of my favourite greens is purple sprouting I would still eat that what you said was no good . I feel jealous what you've got mine's not ready yet. All the best Nick
The pigeons didn't get mine this year Nic and I am sure yours will appear soon.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
Looks good Terry! I've got some beautiful little sprouting plants that have just started giving florets. They're no where near as tall as yours though 🤔🌺
It doesn't matter how big it is its what you get from it that counts and hopefully mine will give more only time will tell.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
Still waiting for mine. yours looks great this year you beat the pidgins ;-)
I won't forget last years devastation......lol.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
You pulled it back mate. I havent had a problem with birds as yet. Maybe I shouldn't have said that.. @@terrykingsallotmentgardening
It only takes a day or hours once they get the taste Dave.
Nice one Terry! That's Heaven sent - cut n come again broccoli! Take care, Poo
It did really well poo and will do some the following year as I will be concentrating on my new raised beds and didn't want too many plants hanging around.

Thanks. Growing purple sprouting for myself for the first time. Needed to know how to harvest. My plants went in dyring March. Can’t wait for the crop. Will set some more later in the year. Thanks so much
Just planted mine and they won't be ready until February or March so be patient they will flower, harvest regularly when they first appear, pigeons will love them so net them so they can't land on top of them, can't remember if I showed that. Any issues please comment, hope to hear from you again Josef.

@@terrykingsallotmentgardening Thank you. Lovely winter garden to kitchen food.

lovely harvest in all. My dad told me that nettle was good for the vegetative growth of a plant because its high in nitrogen and comfrey was good for the fruiting stages as it has phosphorus as well as nitrogen which is needed for any flowering/fruiting stage ... dunno if that applies to brassicas but your trail would support that. Great vid
Exactly my thoughts and I am intrigued to see if comfrey works the same way as when used on fruit's.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
Shame about the damage. But those broccolis look lovely, comfrey wins!
Cheers my friend, more bad weather on its way and lets hope my plants stay upright......lol.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
Never tried the purple broccoli. I will watch and see how it grows over there.
Because I have removed nearly all the Florets the plant will have to find away to reproduce so should give me more to pick in the coming weeks.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
Lovely :) you know I've not been feeding mine 😶 it's producing lots though might have been even more if I fed it
Hello Kimmy, you probably don't have to feed it, I am just experimenting and considering the white fly infestation I am pleased with the results.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
thanks mate, was wondering why no broccoli yet but seems just need to be patient. i got these white moths going crazy on my plant, bastard things have laid eggs on it
White fly is a nuisance and keep shaking them off especially on a frosty morning.
♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Does it have the same flavor as green broccoli? I've never heard of it before. I would say you need to feed them with the Comfrey. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
It melts in the mouth much better than the the green Broccoli and gives the plate and food a different colour. Hopefully in a few weeks I may be able to tell if the comfrey make any difference.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
This is proper broccoli, the green stuff is calabrese.

Thank you my friend.

I failed with the purple sprouting broccoli for this year, terry. they were still in the seed bed and almost 15 inches high by the time I was able to get back to the plot last September. I fully intend to succeed for next years crop...…………….brian
To be honest this is my first successful year with the purple sprouting broccoli and that was with the damage the white fly did.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
I had flowers forming on mine, so I pinched them off and harvested brocoli. Do you reckon they'll continue to grow?
Keep feeding and harvesting until the florets go straight to flower.
Happy gardening, Terry King.
Can you cut this plant down to the base ? Will it regrow from a leaf node near the ground? After it produces florettes all spring i want to cut it back to fit a moth net over it for the summer.
Hello my friend, in my experience if this was still here now and I cut it down it would produce new growth and then go to seed, that's my personal experience, but I would be interested if you got a different result.
♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening thanks for the bery quick reply ! I do this with kale every year and it sets it back for 8 weeks or so, but never overwinters twice, though i have heard this plant can be grown 4 to six years but no real info on how, so it might be hype.
Why did you remove the leaves from the bottom?
Over the Summer here all my Brassicas were infested with White Fly and most of the leaves had died, suprised I ended up with a crop at all only 3 survived out of 8.
♻️Happy Gardening........Terry.
My second year trying to grow it but only get lots of leaves. Please help, what am I doing wrong?
You won't get a crop until February / March it is a long term crop so keep it happy for now.
Happy gardening, Terry.
What time of year were these sown?
This crop was sown in May, I do sow a little later now.
Happy gardening, Terry King.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening Thanks!! :) Do you ever sow in the autumn for the spring? I have a bit of a blind spot with broccoli, always seem to get it wrong!
@@shirleyporter9025 sprouting broccoli takes about 10 months to mature so it's a long term crop, but very productive when it eventually gives so planting later will mean you have to wait longer.
