A September 1997 appearance by Wayne Shorter on KCAL 9 TV in Los Angeles promoting an upcoming concert with Herbie Hancock which took place on September 28th, 1997 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California. The concert was in support of the brilliant "1+1" duet recording with Herbie Hancock released in 1997. Here he chats with KCAL 9 anchors Dave Gonzales and Jane Velez-Mitchell.

I was at this gig at the Alex Theater in 1997. Words cannot express the interplay that happened live onstage between Shorter and Hancock, just the two of them on stage. I'm surprised that this recording does not get mentioned much, because it IS an epic album.

This was apparently around a year after Wayne lost his wife and young niece... This dudes been through some tragic stuff. He's still super humble and cool though
