    God gives and God takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.
    Throughout my life, I have lost numerous of things be either by physical death, separation from my family ( when I was a child my parents divorced, and two years later I along with my siblings was put in a foster home. We were also adopted Two went in separate adopted homes. I and one of my siblings had lived in the same adopted home. During those I never from anyone in my past family life. It was until I became an adult that I got to reunite with any of them. And It was until I was an adult of why I was out in a foster home. One of my grandparents made false accusations,.) I been divorced, lost homes, etc. But God is still Good and He is still in Control

    In my humanness, it is still a hard pill to swallow that bad happens to righteous people. It makes sense that bad falls on the ungodly or when we make poor decisions. On the flip side, I also have to remember that even the most righteous person can't stand up against the holiness of God. It is comfortable to know that the Lord is in control over all things, Satan was limited in what he can do.

    • @PeaceIsYeshua
      @PeaceIsYeshua Před rokem +14

      I actually find it comforting to see in scripture that bad things can be allowed to happen to good people too, because when we go through trials in life despite trying our best to walk the straight and narrow path & choosing the way of the righteous, we can know we're not the only ones, and that makes it easier to trust in God's plan.
      The book of Ecclesiastes also addresses these things. Job & Ecclesiastes are two of my favorite books of the Bible.
      No matter what life throws at me, or for how long, I will stay in faith. ♥ God bless you all!

    God is loving and merciful.
    Adam did not understand the command of God and thus did not believe it. He acted on his disbelief and mankind fell into sin and was destined for destruction. Noah did not understand the commands of God, yet he acted without hesitation and without questioning and mankind was rescued from destruction. Job does not understand the nature of God and how God rules the universe, yet he refuses to give into influences that challenge him to renounce his faith and accept death.
    In love and mercy, God continues to show us the way to eternal life through unfailing faith and perseverance in diversity - even when we cannot understand Him and how He acts. We must learn this because God's ways are often so far beyond what anyone could possibly understand. We must deny our nature and struggles to understand and simply give in to God's will and accept the peace He offers.

    Job 1:21- The Lord gives and takes away. I am experiencing a fresh new loss right now and this rings true for me. I watched the Job overview which was helpful and reminded me that the reason why things happen isn't always important. God sometimes chooses not to reveal it to us. But the important thing is to trust God's wisdom. He is sovereign over everything.

    How can we have hope in a world where God permits suffering? Eliphaz in Job 4:6 says that our own integrity should give us hope. But we know that’s not true. God prevents a great deal of evil, but Oct 7 shows that God allows unspeakable evil (and we know elsewhere that He grieves and weeps with His people). If it were up to us, we’d think we know better (like Disney’s latest movie “Wish,” and we’d just grant all good things, which results in disaster). Benjamin Windle’s “Good Catastrophe” is a beautiful, powerful exploration of Job and how we can have hope, not despite evil, but along with the adversity that God allows.

  • @roybrodrick
    @roybrodrick Před 6 měsíci +2

    Regiatering in my day 4. I loved Eliphaz oddly. I think his central actions were directed as the friend who could speak up, challenging Job to realize the supremacy of a God who had time and time again showed His marvelous hands in the lives of men. He was harsh obviously to address the words of Job, but nonetheless a spiritual intermediary to reconnect Job's faith back to the understanding of God's nature.

    Yes! There it is again - the "sons of God" - showing that the sons of God in Genesis 6:1-4 were angels or divine beings, not humans. That's the only way the term is used in the Old Testament. We do find the term used in the New Testament of humans, but that's only after the atoning work of Jesus' death and resurrection: "for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith" (Galatians 3:26).

    Tara-Leigh, I'm so glad that you can cast a positive light on this story because, being a pessimist, I can't. I know God tests people throughout the Bible and continues to test us, but today's reading brings feelings of frustration towards God for me (which I hate). I found myself asking why God would willingly volunteer his loyal and faithful servant to endure these tragedies? It's seems they're playing a game with Job's life and that God acts like he's not complicit and didn't have a choice in destroying it. (Job 2:3) I guess I just need to remember that it's for God's greater purpose and things will work out in the end.

      We are created beings, fallen and sinful. That God chooses to stick with us for as long as He does is the amazing part. That he would bless us at all is incredible. But then to send His Son to save us......beyond reason. Instead of asking God why, begin by observing what God does. Suspend justice for a moment.....hope for mercy....study God.

      It isn’t easy to understand why a blameless and upright man would be allowed to suffer as much as he did. In my own life my faith has grown during times of sickness and trials. I live with several chronic illnesses and have had more serious illnesses at times; some of which I could have died from. God saw me through. I felt Him close and know He was in control. During these times I grew closer to Him and more in love with Him. When I see what He brought me through I just want to praise Him! May God bless you both as you go through this study.

      @sewingstoryprojects6178 You said, that he would bless us at all is incredible. But he made and he is supposed to love us as the Bible says so. It makes no sense to me. I'm trying to understand but is this how love is defined in the bible? That love means you can destroy or damage a person if you feel like it. I'm going to keep on trying to learn because from the abusive past that I come from, this way of thinking just feels so bad. Thank yall for your commenting. They help me a lot. I come from a charismatic background only 2 yrs ago & it's like everything is new to me. I feel like I'm a new Christian because the religion I was in before did not teach this way at all. Thank you

      There are some great comments above this. I love the story of Job, because it gave Job a chance to show that he would trust in God no matter what, and look how God has honored him for it all these years later.
      Charismatic/Prosperity preaching can absolutely be confusing, as they teach to always expect a good outcome or that if you have a bad outcome, then maybe it was because you didn't rebuke the devil enough or you didn't have enough faith that God would protect you, but while both of those are important, sometimes niether are the reason, and sometimes bad things just happen at no fault of the victim.
      I'm so very sorry you've suffered abuse in your life. 😢I pray that you will find healing this year. 🙏

Click on that and it gives you options for "top comment' or "newest first." Click on" newest first" and you'll see the most recent comments. Worked for me. Hope this helps and works for you too.

      I'm surprised no one responded to your question yet! The books of the Bible are not chronologically organized, they are somewhat loosely, but not linearly. The events in the book of Job is after the flood but before the events of Abraham's days. That's the beauty of reading the Bible in this way. It helps us understand the message from a historical timeline perspective and brings new insights to the text that we might not see otherwise.

      Or did he? It seems to me that Eliphaz was simply going over all of the reasons that typically merit such hardships... Then, he shared a secret message that he received from a spirit.
      What he said afterward, was simply powerful and full of empathy. He started off by telling Job that he would appeal to GOD and then, he reminded Job of every wondrous thing the Lord does for his people and told him that they had all fact checked it so they advised him to hear it and apply it to himself. In other words, Job was greatly encouraged.

    Satan- adversary
    Satan tests Job and God allowed it.
    In His mercy God limited Satan.
    2 acts of man and 2 acts of nature
    3 of Job’s friend show up and give him bad counsel- that Job brought judgement on himself.
    God limited the actions of the enemy against Job.
    God alone has the final say.

However, I loved God and knew he loved me. I knew that he could take all my stages of grief. It isn't sin to be angry, but that the one thing I couldn't do was blame God.
