3. Guinea pigs should ideally have a decent amount of space so they can run around and explore in a cage. They also do best when they are in groups. When I was younger I started out with one in a regular "starting kit" cage. Over time ( a couple months or so) I realized the space was too small and my little furry buddy seemed depressed. I bonded with her as a baby and spent many days just cuddling, playing, and exploring with her. However, I did a little more research and realized I had made the mistake of not allowing her to form bonds with other piggies, and her cage, which was marketed for guinea pigs, was about 1/3 of the size it should have been.
