I remember going over this with friends before. Best I can tell, the Straw Hats never had a chance to...spend any of Thriller Bark's treasure. Save for maybe the ink spaghetti in Dressrosa. Like, in Sabody, Rayleigh seemed to do the coating for free and Camie's purchase was a bust. In the Marineford arc following Luffy, he only gave up his armband. In return to Sabody, the only one making purchases was Nami, and she haggled HARD for it. In Fishman Island, pretty sure the party was on the kingdom's tab. Punk Hazard had no shops. Zou either had no shops or the goods were free. No shopping was done in Totland, obvously. And Wano firstly used a different currency and secondly didn't have many goods to offer.
I expect that discovering the extent of what the One Piece is will be a roller coaster of emotions. "It's an unreasonable amount of gold, treasure, and money." (Wealth) "It's the friends we made along the way" / "It's sake." (Fame) "It's an ancient weapon" (Power) "It's something incomprehensible." (Everything else the world has to offer) But what if it's all of the above and then some? Just a nonstop barrage of discovery on different levels of expectation that both subverts yet affirms every theory created about the contents of the One Piece. Imagine that, huh?
Oda-san thinks mere emotional enrichment (as z sole reward for an entire adventure) is what we English-speakers know as "cheesy," insofar as I understand his opinion--it would be a cop-out. I seriously doubt he would consider that a happy ending to a pirate adventure, especially one he's based a long and stunningly successful career on like _One Piece._
Not sure if this was anime only, but in Water 7, Luffy spent a large portion of the remaining 100 million on the party for everyone to celebrate after Enies Lobby. I remember Nami freaking out over it.
Unlikely I'm sure they were given cargo out of good faith we never seen any kind transaction happening other than the time they tried to cash the gold in water 7

I think Kaido simply used to get caught to get free food as a prisoner. Anyway they're a Yonko's crew: >step 1: bounty collection center >step 2: rob it, in and out in like 5 minutes. The bounty collection theory has a problem imo. Their own bounties wouldn't just go away if they said they quit piracy, I mean, their crimes, as seen by the world government, dont just disappear. And a the money for a yonko crew member getting turned in won't just be available at a usual bounty station. Maybe it would have worked out early in the story but prob not after timeskip/enies lobby
I recall during the Enies Lobby arc, Dr. Kureha says that when Chopper first activated Monster Point by accident he destroyed like a whole village, so Chopper prolly killed at least a couple people
I just wanna say that water 7 arc after Enies Lobby that remaining 100 million actually went to that party they ended up throwing. Cuz remember the next day Nami checks the safe and nothing but 1 stack of berries was left. To keep the facts straight, they didn't actually find the treasure vault on thriller. Bark perona was intending to run away on the sunny. She packed the sunny with food and with all the treasure and got sent away by akuma before she could leave with it. So when the straw hats got back to their ship all the treasure was there already
Would Sanji want only the freshest ingredients when cooking? He absolutely does not like to waste food, I could see him purposefully picking out th ingredients that don't have long left on them to make sure it doesn't go to waste. That said, Sanji might buy a mixture of both, the fresh is used to feed Nami & Robin while the rest might be used to feed Luffy & the others.
When Nami got sick before Drum Island Sanji said when preparing meals he always makes Nami’s (and Vivi’s) with the freshest ingredients available while the guys all got the oldest food served to them
Regarding Luffy and Nami's body count, some of the angry mob that attacked Luffy and Nami in Whole Cake Island definitely died. At least Luffy had some kills there, though Nami's lightning probably killed some of the fodder, too.

Since luffy is a yonko Lilith thought they were rich, cause yonko are usually loaded, so I think maybe after egghead with Nami stealing vegapunk’s manmade diamonds and possibly meeting the grand fleet they’ll get tribute from them since the stories showed them gaining power and some of fleet members are wealthy themselves

Normally they still have TB's treasure (200 million berrys) which was not spent during the 2 years. Then I don't think that FMI , Zou and Wano asked the SH to pay for the parties after the SH had saved their lives and countries + these 3 countries gave water and food to the SH so they saved quite a bit since they got provisions for free. The only times they've paid is for the restaurant at the start of dressrosa and to buy food on WCI and that's it. So the SH should still have millions of Berrys and be rich.
I have a feeling the grand fleet may also give them tribute since the straw hats are a yonko crew, also the fleet seems to be pretty wealthy for each division
That’s the only treasure the straw hats have gotten in the story. They lost the 300 million they got from the gold inside the snake. They haven’t gotten any treasure since they got back together
Fish for food. Sanji cools it. Rice can laste a long time and with a fridge they can keep meat stored for Luffy. I'd say they can laste a while aside Luffys meals with Sanji able to cook just about anything
I always thought that Luffy, way back at the very beginning, should have stolen Alvida's ship instead of just running off in that dingy. Like... Alvida and her crew were all defeated, so its not like anyone was gonna stop him. And if he needed more than just him and Koby to man the ship, just grab a few of the knocked out members of Alvida's crew and be like "you work for me now or imma throw you overboard." XD

Yeah I think the time period and the exact economy of One Piece really matter here. Doflamingo offered to buy the nation of Dressrosa for 10 billion Belly/Yen, which would be somewhere around 70 million dollars in our world. Riku admitted that the nation of Dressrosa itself did not have that much money. So we can determine that even a successful kingdom in the One Piece world probably only has a few billion berries in their treasure vaults at most. Of course in our world, 70 million is a lot of money but no where near the amount of a nations treasury.

I think logistically the bell pillar should be a lot closer to 100x50-100 million because the pillar wrapping was so big it could’ve fit atleast 100 of treasure bags the strawhats had.
Besides the 200,000,000 they didnt use for Cami they have a Food Garden and herb Spice garden besides Choppers medical herbs,Nami's weathira plants,Usops Pop Greens,and Robins Flowers and Luffy and Ussop Fish with Sea Kings likely not "fish" diet wise(Luffy,Sanji,or Zoro to hunt Sea Kings) So food isnt as much of a problem as it was with the smaller Merry lack of Gardens and the Aquarium (to store live fish)
I don't know how Nami has kept it together for so long not being able to count whatever money they have lol and the only time I can think of recently where she would get the chance is that week after beating Kaido and everything. Also when are you doing your charity stream unless you've said so already.
In Wano, you're forgetting Sanji with his noodle shop and Usop with his "magically healing potions", so at least they made a bit of money while waiting for the "scheduled" attack on Onigashima. Point 1: There is a difference between _"sea thieves"_ (Morganeers, as Oda-san originally called them) and _"sea adventurers"_ (Peace Mains was Oda-san's term). I haven't seen personally much past the Davy Back Fight with the Foxy Pirates, but thanks to fanfiction, I'm familiar with the basic structure of what comes next, so I feel sure in saying that the Straw Hat Pirates only kill when Luffy feels like his opponents deserve it.
I feel like it couldn't hurt if Oda would just state in one small panel from now and then how their ressources go. Or at least at the end of Wano Denjiro has a line with Nami or someone "we're so gratefull, we provided you with supplies and some valueables from the Shogun treasury" .. especially since Wano used to be the land of gold, they have the Seastone stuff and other craftsman stuff.
Great concept for a video. I feel like this is similar to the festival/celebrations the crew have after a big battle. We went from Whiskey Park, seeing the on goings versus now where it is established that they’ve celebrated but we don’t really see it happening

fun fact since i don’t see anyone else mentioning it: sanji has in fact killed on screen. he delivered the final blow to one of eneru’s priests with a kick to the head while luffy held him still. i don’t feel like looking up his name but he was fat with glasses and had the ordeal of balls (later renamed the ordeal of love after sanji/luffy/usopp finally gained the upper hand. he’s the older brother to hotori and kotori (the twin fat priests that look EXACTLY like their older brother)
Between nami wanting to hoard all of the money, and luffy and the crew having no impulse control I imagine any money they have is instantly spent unless Nami can stop them
I'm 100% positive that Nami never actually pays for any provisions for the crew. She always just makes one of the guys intimidate random grocery stores for free stuff. You know minimum wage grocery store clerks aren't going to argue with her and Sanji if they demand free stuff.

I think during the return to Saboady arc, Nami probably (off screen) exchange the Thriller Bark treasure for Berries/cash. And have used very little of it since they got it. So I estimate just less than 200,000 berries.😍
Speaking of money, when I went to Japan, I was visiting a temple and got a keychain of Luffy over the Kinkaku temple. It’s connected to my coin purse because Japan uses wayyyy more coins than the US so I kinda had to buy it to be practical

Regarding the currency on Zou, considering the community-focussed culture and their general isolation from most of the outside world, I think it's possible the minks just don't use money.

Ive always wondered the same about pokemon. Despite seemingly never earning money and them being broke actually being a plot point at times they always conveniently have money for food pokeballs potions ect.
They obviously just don't want to show Ash taking people's lunch money when he beats them, but it happens offscreen. The times they're broke are when Ash was on a losing streak and kept having to pay out.
I think Brock, Tracy, Cilan and Celmont handle and keep track of the money in Pokemon. In Journeys they actually have a job with the lab so they probably get paid from there.

The only times they've paid is for the restaurant at the start of dressrosa and to buy food on WCI and that's it. So the SH should still have millions of Berrys and be rich.
I have a feeling the grand fleet may also give them tribute since the straw hats are a yonko crew, also the fleet seems to be pretty wealthy for each division
That’s the only treasure the straw hats have gotten in the story. They lost the 300 million they got from the gold inside the snake. They haven’t gotten any treasure since they got back together

I always thought that Luffy, way back at the very beginning, should have stolen Alvida's ship instead of just running off in that dingy. Like... Alvida and her crew were all defeated, so its not like anyone was gonna stop him. And if he needed more than just him and Koby to man the ship, just grab a few of the knocked out members of Alvida's crew and be like "you work for me now or imma throw you overboard." XD

Yeah I think the time period and the exact economy of One Piece really matter here. Doflamingo offered to buy the nation of Dressrosa for 10 billion Belly/Yen, which would be somewhere around 70 million dollars in our world. Riku admitted that the nation of Dressrosa itself did not have that much money. So we can determine that even a successful kingdom in the One Piece world probably only has a few billion berries in their treasure vaults at most. Of course in our world, 70 million is a lot of money but no where near the amount of a nations treasury.

I think logistically the bell pillar should be a lot closer to 100x50-100 million because the pillar wrapping was so big it could’ve fit atleast 100 of treasure bags the strawhats had.
Besides the 200,000,000 they didnt use for Cami they have a Food Garden and herb Spice garden besides Choppers medical herbs,Nami's weathira plants,Usops Pop Greens,and Robins Flowers and Luffy and Ussop Fish with Sea Kings likely not "fish" diet wise(Luffy,Sanji,or Zoro to hunt Sea Kings)
So food isnt as much of a problem as it was with the smaller Merry lack of Gardens and the Aquarium (to store live fish)
I don't know how Nami has kept it together for so long not being able to count whatever money they have lol and the only time I can think of recently where she would get the chance is that week after beating Kaido and everything. Also when are you doing your charity stream unless you've said so already.

Point 1: There is a difference between _"sea thieves"_ (Morganeers, as Oda-san originally called them) and _"sea adventurers"_ (Peace Mains was Oda-san's term). I haven't seen personally much past the Davy Back Fight with the Foxy Pirates, but thanks to fanfiction, I'm familiar with the basic structure of what comes next, so I feel sure in saying that the Straw Hat Pirates only kill when Luffy feels like his opponents deserve it.
I feel like it couldn't hurt if Oda would just state in one small panel from now and then how their ressources go. Or at least at the end of Wano Denjiro has a line with Nami or someone "we're so gratefull, we provided you with supplies and some valueables from the Shogun treasury" .. especially since Wano used to be the land of gold, they have the Seastone stuff and other craftsman stuff.

fun fact since i don’t see anyone else mentioning it: sanji has in fact killed on screen. he delivered the final blow to one of eneru’s priests with a kick to the head while luffy held him still. i don’t feel like looking up his name but he was fat with glasses and had the ordeal of balls (later renamed the ordeal of love after sanji/luffy/usopp finally gained the upper hand. he’s the older brother to hotori and kotori (the twin fat priests that look EXACTLY like their older brother)
Between nami wanting to hoard all of the money, and luffy and the crew having no impulse control I imagine any money they have is instantly spent unless Nami can stop them

Out of the 300 million from the Skypia gold, 200 went to the Sonny, the rest got spent on the party they held after the rescue of Robin.
Kaido would have had a mountain of treasure on Onigashima, and its wealth of berries would have been worth very little to the new shogun of Wano. Therefore it seems unreasonable that Nami (the cat burglar) would let the Straw Hats leave Wano without a healthy spending budget at least.
There's always a single panel at the end of every arc where Nami's looting a local bakery.

The straw hat's got nothing from dressrosa. Nami wasn't there to demand money and you may remember they left with navy chasing them. They didn't really have time to load up a bunch of treasure. Plus they weren't really looking for it anyways. None of them are adverse to treasure, but nami's the only one who's going out looking for it

Ive always wondered the same about pokemon. Despite seemingly never earning money and them being broke actually being a plot point at times they always conveniently have money for food pokeballs potions ect.
They obviously just don't want to show Ash taking people's lunch money when he beats them, but it happens offscreen. The times they're broke are when Ash was on a losing streak and kept having to pay out.
I think Brock, Tracy, Cilan and Celmont handle and keep track of the money in Pokemon.
In Journeys they actually have a job with the lab so they probably get paid from there.

Trainers with random Pokemon may be on their own but the ones chosen by professors might get some support to help them with their journey.
