Been with PenFed for a couple years now. One my very first day of membership, I applied for the Power Cash Rewards card, it went into pending for a couple days and came back with a $25k approval. I applied for the Pathfinder a few weeks ago and got $12,500. But... I also have 31 other cards though. Some Personal, Some Business and some I got just for CZcams content. Keep up the good work
I have my primary job direct deposit with PenFed checking account. I have the power cash card that I use for every day purchases including utility bills. I generally will have over 1000.00 cash accumulated every year. And the Pathfinder card where I easily use the 100.00 travel credit every year. I've also utilized a decent personal loan they approved me for about 3 years ago. All in all they've been good to me!!

My first PenFed was the Platnium rewards :) glad i chose that one too
The Platinum Rewards and the Power Cash would both work for me because 2% is always good. I like that the Platinum counts Target and Walmart which I haven't seen anywhere else that I recall.

Nice presentation + video here. Good information and you are giving honest information since I'm a member of Penfed and love'm dearly 🙂 🙂 Almost 9 months in with an internal score 822? ( in backoffice) Started with the Power Cash at ($10k) checking (honors), savings (premium). Was waiting for a pre-approval before getting 1 more card. Haven't gotten it yet. Was told they send them out quarterly. So I think the next one is in Jan. Hope one comes, or will then just apply on my own. 🙂

Great info as always! I also wanted to add that Wells Fargo has the Experian FICO 9 score now too. I love my PenFed accounts and really it's really simple to become a member with them. I can't speak for the credit cards, but love that they soft-pull for personal loans.

Penfed Power Cash also has no FTFs. Other 2% cards like Citi Double, Paypal Mastercard, Wells Fargo Active Cash all have FTF

Penfed works super for me but I have been cap with the $50k credit rule between the gold, platinum and cash rewards and loss the chance to get the pathfinder which is their best card
Shit I went to PenFed to open a account and it was revealed to me that they "PenFed" had a member all ready in existence that has the same social security number that I have, so needless to say I couldn't open an account. Some shady stuff, I showed em my s.s. card and all my documents they needed and still no luck. I'd never delt that card not even with Navy Federal, I just don't know. Great video though, thanks.
Not really shady on Penfed as you should investigate. This doesn’t make Penfed a bad credit Union, it only means you should investigate. 🤷🏼♀️
how do you increase your internal score with PENFED?? Do you have good evidence they use internal scoring that has a significant impact on deciding if and how much credit to approve you for? Like NFCU does?? If it's different, how is it different and what to we need to do to optimize the relationship??
Capital one bank gives you scores and updates.

So a little update, I got the cash card 15k after a year membership with 5 dollars, prequalified offer on email, 90 days later email for platinum reward 8k, 40 inquiries at the time, so today 5/3/23, I applied for a prequalify personal loan from email, offer was 5k for 17.9 percent, called in to complain that my Usaa rate advantage was a better rate for 5k, while on the phone they offered and gave me 15 months no interest on a new gold card 12.5k.

Open a checking and savings have like $200 in them use it now and then for gas and food then apply for the loan in 60 days

I just got Platinum Rewards card yesterday.
Credit limit is $15,000 and credit score is 810.
I prefer this card because gas for x5 points.
I opened PenFed Savings account 6 months ago
And the initial deposit is only $300. I keep this same balance now.
I do not like the $5 hold permanently until the account is closed.
Anyway, the PenFed credit limit is really generous.
