The story goes; Haley wasn't feeling good before this shoot, and the leader of PMJB talked her into doing it anyway. This is smoking hot, so it's scary to think how it would have gone if she felt good. haha. Also, Post Modern Jukebox utilizes guest singers, Haley being one of them. Thank you for reacting to this.
To continuing that story, this was actually done in one take! Haley wanted to do a second take, but Scott Bradlee was like "Na, we're good."
Not sure where the story started that she was not feeling well but that's not accurate. She was worried about doing the song because she had performed all week and they recorded 2 other songs that day and she was afraid her voice would be tired and not sound as good as she wanted. Scott convinced her to do it as he felt they could get one take. And they did in fact nail it in one take. 80M views later it''s extraordinary.
BTW: The other two songs they recorded that day in Zurich? All About that Bass and Seven Nation Army. Not a bad days work... :-)

Haley is an amazing performer, incredibly talented, and she has truly mastered her voice. She really commands your attention and deservedly so - but the arrangement on this piece is incredible, too. The band does a great job of fading away to give Haley space or going all in to support her when she really lets loose. Scott Bradlee (the piano player) is the genius behind Postmodern Jukebox. His arrangements always give the guest stars the spotlight, and his ability to transform a familiar song into something entirely new is genuinely captivating. This is one of their best, but there are soooo many to choose from. PMJ is nothing if not prolific - for which I am extremely grateful.

Postmodern Jukebox are amazing, literally hundreds of vintage style covers. Haley Reinhart has half a dozen songs with them, all are fantastic, and has a fantastic solo career also.
Morgan James is also fantastic with Postmodern Jukebox . . . Dream On and Maps are just amazing.

Not only in one take but straight after performing a show in Europe and filmed in their hotel. Haley was also feeling unwell at the time and didn't think it came out the way she wanted it but Scott told her she'd nailed it and he wasn't wrong.

@@MrNoclutch I've seen her perform with PMJ at a concert and they are pretty structured because of the number of entertainers. (Saw both Creep and *my personal favorite of hers* - 7 Nation Army and was thrilled she was even there considering the rotating ensamble they are.)
I've not seen her with her band, though there are numerous live videos of her on Haleystusk's channel.

Her live performance of "I Don't Know How to Love You" is out of this world.
Isn't it just..... I commented and I stand by the opinion that she made an orchestra seem insignificant with her performance. That's is definitely up there with the best live performances I have ever seen, not just technically perfect but also has the soul of the original.

Love this cover! Haley was one of my favorites from American Idol
Haley Reinhart is the best thing to have ever come from American Idol... and she didn't even win the show :/ She also happened to be on the season with probably the second best person ever on american idol IMO (casey abrams). I LOVE watching reaction videos for this performance! The expressions that cross the faces of the reactor are priceless! I've said before, I think everyone (male/female/straight/other) who watches/listens to Haley sing this song, they all fall in love just a little bit.

I have liked Hayley since she was on American Idol years ago. You need the hear Brian micheal Crumb on Americas got talent. It will leave you in a puddle of tears blown away.

I've said this before on other channels, but Postmodern Jukebox is a wonderful rabbit hole to fall down, open their page, pick a song, and prepare to lose yourself for hours. Haley's songs are great, the Morgan James songs are great, but if you want to give yourself an existential crisis on the topic of multiple talents, watch the cover of Pharell Williams "Happy" featuring Gunhild Carling, I won't give any spoilers, I'll just say, it's practically Vauldvillian what she can do.

Perfect natural reaction. Loved watching. You are exactly how these videos can be such a joy to watch. You are also a “Fresh of breath air” 🙂. But also, like you say, that is truly what this band is. Fresh, something new and special. And Hailey Reinhart, to me, is as good as any of the greats; Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, and so on. I don’t think that is an exaggeration whatsoever.

Haley Reinhart’s version of “Black Hole Sun” is INCREDIBLE!! She came from American Idol but lost to Scotty Mccreery and Lauren Alaina. She’s great!
SHE is INCREDIBLE !!!! My favorite female singers of ALL time are Haley Reinhart, Adele, Whitney Houston, Lauren Dagle, and Chevel Shepherd. In THAT order.
She is doing the moves that a lot of singers back in the day probably did when singing songs like these in the 1940´ and 1950´s. Today singers do a lot flashier dancing moves but that probably has to do with the requirements of different music genres.
