What kind of download speeds do you get on your xbox?
Around 259 mbps
I’m not that close to my router so I get like 50mbps
Still not bad
999mpbs on my Xbox one x

Thanks man. The dns and 5ghz worked a treat. Went from 100mbos to 240. Amazing speed for rural ireland.
I read that as M-bose
40 to 200-300 with the Google DNS server!
Is 20mbps enough for Xbox series x or 30mbps ?
@ftgio im happy with 1mbps and its playable idk why you’re sayin 20mbps is bad
Why are you bitching about 100 I’m at 30 rn
The Tipp with closing the game in the background is so awesome!

I usually get like 1mbps usually
Forza horizon 4 took me a whole year to download
Usually got 10mpbs but often would dip to kbps

Awesome vid, much appreciated!
Wanted to share some info I’ve been reading around the Xbox forums. On the Series X I’m getting 500 mb down and about 2-5mb upload. Normally i get 15-20mb upload. This disparity in upload speed seems to be a common issue.
More puzzling is the fact that opening the internet browser and running a speedtest upload speeds show a normal 15 mb upload. It seems this may be an issue with the Xbox statistics test under the settings tab. Cross reference your speeds with both the xbox statistics test and the internet browser test. The 1% packet loss that displays on the xbox statistics test is also absent on the browser speed test.
First one worked for me, thanks a lot!!!!
For real such a great tip like why didn’t I think of that? This guy is a genius
This is awesome bro

"FREE WIFI (Not a virus)" 🤣
Thanks for the tips!
I was wondering why my download speed was being capped at 20mbps when downloading games while network settings show my download speed is 250mbps. Closing down games running in the background did the trick for me!
Saw in your vid (@5:50) that yours was also at around 20mpbs, before you closed down games in the background. Is this like the capped download speed when you're running games, regardless of your internet speed?
It is done so that your online gameplay is not disrupted by the download. If the download used all of your bandwidth you would have lag issues.
@@TurboSpeedWiFi Purchased Xbox Series S recently. Trying to download the Forza Horizon 4 but game download keeps stopping and starting. I have downloaded 46GB of FH4 in 3 days. It's happening with other games as well ( Forza 5, Batman Arkham Asylum, A Way Out, Nfs Heat)
All these games downloads stops after 10-11 GB. Downloaded one game at a time. I have good internet speed with unlimited plan. There is no cap on data.
To check this, I have another console with me so I put the game on downloading( size of 60GB) and it got downloaded in 5 hrs same day.

Thumbs up for that alone.
It would be legendary if his dog actually shits on his neighbors yard’s.
The reason why is because of the internet data connection to the game itself! It routes data to the game which uses resources! When your not playing the game it funnels all the resources to the download!!

Good tips except DNS has no relationship to or impact on network bandwidth or upload/download speed. There may be SLIGHT differences (I’m talking milliseconds) in how quickly an address is resolved when a new connection is established, but other than the initial connection it does not affect speed whatsoever. It usually either works or doesn’t. You’ll know if it doesn’t.
Im so upset that i cant give you a hug for this working

Thanks, I got 555mb speed download. This video helped a lot
I ran a long 30ft Cat6A between my modem/gateway to a Monoprice 8 port powered ethernet switch to my TV setup! I have too many consoles, but all of them can benefit from wired performance.
DNS won't actually effect your download (sustained connection) speed, what it can speed up is the time it takes to make new connections to new servers, but the XBOX (like all windows based computers) does maintain a DNS Cache, so even with a slower DNS service, commonly, and recently used connections shouldn't suffer from that DNS lag after an initial connection is made.
A bigger help would be to recommend users adjust the QoS settings in their router to set the XBOX to a higher priority than other machines.
Idk what any of that means but u seem like u know what ur talking about
YEAH I have all these videos with misinformation, where DNS affects download speed. It does NOT! It never has since the beginning of the internet! DNS is just for resolving names into IP addresses.
@@yeahitisyeahitis3843 😂😂😂😂 on me
Is 20mbps enough for Xbox series x or 30mbps ?
Thankyou for posting this. By default a machine does not know the destination IP to a name server, assuming the machine is configured with a dns ip address through dhcp or manually configured the machine will simply send a dns query to the dns server ip. The DNS server will then send a reply back to the machine with the destination ip of the server name they want to communicate with. Also I only have my phone and my xbox on my network so I wouldnt really benefit from qos just 2 devices with gig speed x.x
Finally some 475 mbps thanks. I downloaded MSFS 2020 in just 1 hour
Currently stationed in japan rn and changed my DNS bro my mbps went from 4 to 40 just changing my dns 🙏
Pro tip, buy an external ssd, or if you can afford it, the official seagate expansion. Transfer speeds are much faster than anyones internet. Simply store games for later and then move them when you want to play. This works for multiple consoles as well. Just take the ssd from one to the other and copy the whole game over. The official seagate expansion copys/moves at around 6 Gbps. 6x faster than the ethernet ports can handle. My ssd is around 1 or 2 gbps. But still more consistent speeds than downloading.

You need to add in powerline adapters they’re amazing if you can’t use wired it’s the next best thing. I get basically a wired connection from them.
Power line adapters are very very hit or miss. I work as a broadband tech and see multiple people a day having issues due to power line adapters. One thing to keep in mind while using them is that electrical cables are not built to carry weak internet signal. There's alot of interference from the electricity causing many many drops for quite a few people
What are they called ?
LOL I love the "NAME" of your network LOL
Do you have to change your port if your on a wireless WiFi or leave it automatic? Nd what’s a good dns for Oregon which is in the na west
If ur on Ethernet always click the last one but it doesn’t matter if ur on wireless
Changing your DNS will not affect your speed.

I hate the download cap from server traffic, when I download things at my University, I get about 900 Mbps download speeds when I’m plugged in directly. Yet, I only get anywhere between 250-500 Mbps while I’m downloading/ updating games, even though the Xbox says I am currently getting 900 Mbps when I test the speeds in the settings. That’s still really fast, but it is only half of the speeds, which is extremely frustrating.
You would think that the settings would be preset for fastest possible download speeds?
Thanks so much my game was going to take 11 hours and 56 mins now it’s down to hour and 7 mins
My download speed when I do the test on xbox is always well above 450mbs, but when I go to the gaming I'm downloading it shows it only downloading around 15-20 mbs. No other games running and its hardwired.

Because if you are plugged in to the router you are not using 5ghz, 5ghz is wireless as is 2.4, neither are used when you are plugged in via ethernet cable.
