You could do two gardenias on either size of that staircase down into your garden. That way, you get a burst of perfume when you're heading down into the yard. Or maybe something like Jasmine. Something super fragrant in that hottub/deck area - whatever the most sweet smelling thing in your zone.

Beautiful upgrade! The mass planting makes that bed look cohesive and more in scale with your large yard.
So smart to snag these, as you are correct; these are very hard to find! I've been on the hunt for Invincibelle Mini Mauvette or Garnetta, but so far have not found any locally.

They are definitely tough to find, but maybe talk to someone at a local garden center and see if they can place an order!
I do love the mass plantings, and I want to bulk up more of what I already have to add cohesion

Maybe some lavender in that bed with the two blue pines you put in. Or maybe false indigo. Something with spikey flowers or shootups. Allium or irises would work, too.

Those monarda went to Harvard, never seen them grow so tall. And whoa, those hydrangeas are amazing! You could add some hostas in a star pattern around the base of the tree (or towards the front of the bed.) You could also do some loriope ornatmental grass and sedum in the spaces between the hygrangeas.

Wow, I REALLY love that you removed the Monarda and replaced with the semi-circle of those hydrangeas. That looks SO good and a perfect choice, like you said, with it's light requirements and making that bed more of a focal point. Great move! I also love the addition of the globe blue spruces to that other bed. Again, great plant and color choices in that bed plus some nice winter interest. I used to work at a garden center, but I can't remember, are all globe-type blue spruces grafted? Is that how they're able to get a low-growing globe shape for a blue spruce? Thanks for the update!

Thank you!! And I do believe that all of them are grafted, these are just a very low graft so it looks like a shrub :)

Not me in a 100 degree weather believing you when you said they do best in full sun..lol

If you live in a really dry climate, or zone 8, I would protect them from the hot afternoon sun. But since we have high humidity here by the ocean in zone 6, they can take the sun all day long!
