  • I show you how to prep and replace your hot water tank cold intake dip tube. The reason for doing this is your heater still works fine but the amount of hot water you get is severely reduced. In this instance the heater is a power vented gas heater.

    Nothin' like seeing a compromised pressure vessel to get the blood pumping! Lucky you chased the initial problem and discovered a really bad hot water heater. These home improvement videos are great! Thanks man!

    I can't recommend a tankless heater enough, they easily pay for themselves and the family never runs out of hot water. Glad you found that hidden leak before it completely ruptured, great video, I didn't know about those tubes in the tanks, thanks.

    • @jimdavidson5208
      @jimdavidson5208 Před rokem +2

      Tankless are total junk. Just wait till you have to remove all the piped and descale it. Takes about 5 minutes to get hot water to the furthest faucet. Don't keep up with family over, high demands. Cost is more than triple a gas 40 gal for example.

    Thank you for the great video was going to say something like, going to check my hot water heater for hemorrhoids. Most likely the fill tube But I only see PVC plastic pipe the top of it with stickers on them from the store and has lots of little elbow pieces to make it fit. I know it could be sellable because it does not have the fully loaded diaper effects dripping on the floor. It's my first house I think I'll just buy a new one and have it installed. When I bought the place I was told I might want to replace it sooner or later with the furnace. Thank you for helping me stay ahead of the game I'll probably do the firmest next year.

    • @jbjb1745
      @jbjb1745 Před rokem

      Also found out do not play with the plastic faucet on the bottom. Now it's dripping and not stopping but at least it's not Brown water at least . Hope you guys get some laughs at least . I think I need a 50 gallon water heater for my house. Do you have any suggestions it's a family of two . me and my daughter definitely open to suggestions. And the only date I seen the water heater in the basement is from 1998 with a 6-year warranty

    Thanks for this very informative video sir... This must be the same problem iam having after 5 mins no hot water.. I will fix this but this time I will take note of the diameter of that fill tube pipe , I might take the old one with me as a reference so I will not make the same mistake you did as getting too thick of a pipe thanks

      I have a question for you ... Can you make a video or bring up the idea about the green circuit board and the hot water thermostats upper and lower.. just saying I've had that problem before in the past my self, but I was wondering if anyone else knows this so if u could make a video on this.. you will be surprised how many do not know this so that would be a good idea for a video thanks again Sir

    If you think replacing a water heater is expensive, NOT replacing it would be more expensive by an order of magnitude... especially if that tank blew when no-one was home.

      From what I've read those warranties are retroactive. You don't get a new one. Best to change the sacrificial rod at the halfway point.
