Fun facts from a Native English speaker: "I'm fine" is actually the answer we give more commonly when that question is phrased all answers fine, but if its in a professional setting you should say something like "I'm well" instead.

  • @00jyjsarang
    @00jyjsarang Před 2 lety +10

Native English speaker here. This is usually a greeting and not really an invitation to talk about yourself. I usually say:
    Fine, how are you?
Quick, to the point, and shows politeness by asking the other person the same question.

    “How are ya?”
    With
    “How’s it going?”
    “Hey”

It usually just goes like (also this could just be walking down the street) you usually don’t even stop walking, just make eye contact, smile, and when they say “hello how are you” or “hi how are you” just say what she said not bad, I’m fine, or I’m good. And then say how are you. So “hello how are you?”
“I’m fine, thanks. How are you?”
And they’ll just say “I’m good”
And keep in mind don’t over think this!! You and the other person will forget it in five minutes. And I can’t remember one person I’ve had this convo with, and I’ve done it so many times.

A: Hello. How are you ?
B: Good. How are you ?
A: Good. (Goes on to make a normal conversation)
But this quick introduction is equivalent to hello.
It's very rare for anyone to genuinely want an answer other than 'good'. 'Good' is the polite thing to say in most cases.
    Unless they emphasize 'how are'.
    A: Hello. *How are* you?
B: I'm not doing great, I'm really struggling with school.
A: I'm really sorry to hear that. How can I help?
