Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I believe the set is also split up into 24 bags so that it can be built each day before Christmas like an advent calendar! I think they may mostly even be in chronological order so you can build along through the events of the film.

The sledge not going through the door actually matches the real geography of the house because there's a cut inbetween Kevin going down the stairs and flying out and if you pay attention you can see that he would just crash into the wall like he does in the Lego set.

For cooperative holiday building, it’s actually pretty fun trading off every few steps while watching whatever movie/s the set relates to. My younger brother (17)and I (33) have been doing this for a few years. It works well with the larger sets where there might be redundant builds (1989 Batmobile, the UCS gunship, Mos Eisley Cantina). Usually whoever wasn’t building would help sort and pick out the parts needed for the next step. I imagine building the Titanic with a friend or relative would be great.

I own this House and it's absolutely stunning down to every fine detail! It brings back so many memories for me growing up. I remember when I first got the movie Home Alone for a Christmas gift from my Grandma and Grandma. They thought it was so funny and Home Alone was always my Grandma's favorite, being she said in Home Alone Two, you already knew what to expect that Kevin was going to play more tricks on the bad guys, Harry & Marv. Every year for Christmas we would watch it. I actually watch it all year round. I wish she was still alive to see this magnificent Lego set. She would have appreciated it and thought it was funny. At least I can still cherish the fond memories I had around the Holidays with my family and this house makes me feel as though those magical moments are being relived.

I like the doll house style opening, but agree when open a few details on the doors would be nice. Maybe a part of the furniture that you can play with from above, but is out of the way with the doors open.
The Diagon Alley Lego set does split the booklet's up into 4, for each section & you can chose to join them or keep them separately. It's good they give those choices with expensive sets as they would have to be shared in most families.

When i first saw the thumbnail for the video i was thinking it was going to be the open back style building also. Then i thought, well itd probably be simple enough to close it in yourself. But to see Lego did it for you from the start is really awesome. I love the modular buildings they put out and this is basically just a larger size version of that. I could see me putting this into a large Lego city and having this be like the "mayors mansion" or something up on a big hill overlooking the city. Put in some lighting features for the windows at night to match the rest of the city and itd look pretty sweet.
