      Although they wouldn't notice unless they watched this or any other video that mentions it, its a good way to educate people that even in 1911-1912, there weren't all 50 states yet. but what's interesting is that New Mexico and Arizona joined the union 3 and 4 months before the titanic sunk in April but not sure if the flag was updated before the maiden voyage so at most it should've had 48. Still cool they did this though whether its completely accurate or not!

    • @r0ttingmybra1n
      @r0ttingmybra1n Před 2 lety +22

      @@kyleruiz7167 I actually thought of the same thing with New Mexico and Arizona and looked into it. It turns out that the US Flag only updates its star count on Independence Day. So, despite there being 48 states at the time of Titanic's sinking, the 46-star flag was still the official US flag, and it remained so until July 4th, 1912. I already thought that Lego did an incredible job with attention to detail, but this is just ridiculous.

    • @muranpapadum7541
      @muranpapadum7541 Před 2 lety +3

      They managed to get that detail right, BUT EVERY OTHER DETAIL WRONG! The bow crane is as big as the bridge, Which should have a light grey roof, And not a light brown roof.
      The aft windows are incorrectly portholes, And the front mast is something everybody knows isn't there because of the iconic I'm flying jack scene. The funnels should me more yellow.
      The bow lining isn't there, And the starboard bow vent is not a cow ventilator. The 2nd bridge support is missing.
      So many of these details are easily fixable.

      It was used primarily for ventilation for the lower decks. The smoke it did produce was not nearly as thick or dense as the other funnel’s because it was coming from the 1st Class Smoking Room (one of the only real fireplaces on the ship) and some of the kitchens.
      Other ships had to clutter their deck with many telephone shaped ventilation units in order to ventilate the ship properly, which as you can imagine isn’t the most practical for moving around on deck and doesn’t look very nice.
      Whilst yes, it may have been used for aesthetic purposes to place the Olympic Class vessels along with the other 4-funnel liners, that wasn’t it’s only role.

    i just found your channel from recommendations and i think im going to spend a while binging your content. its genuinely enthralling. i was glued to the screen and even had a few moments of genuine jaw drop. seeing some of the detailing of this build like the propellers being connected and able to spin and the interior bits. and the shoutout to yourself!! it was all so fun and endearing. its refreshing to see someone be really into something i never put a whole lot of thought into. my brother and i loved lego as kids and now that im an adult i think its just easier for me to be into minecraft but really youre showing me that actual lego is just as limitless as something like minecraft where its all done digitally. its nuts to see how much can be done with the pieces given. i do think ill stick to the cheaper option of video games but id love to someday buy something like this to have as an art piece in my home

    This model is so cool!!, in reality this is super acurate! The 2 outside propellers were the only ones to be powered by a steam engine and connected to boilers. The middle one was powered by all the excess steam. The rudder was also actually turned by 2 huge motors directly underneath the stern deck

    To see the interior detail just really shows how special and dedicated they were to this design. the fact they thought to include your tombstone as well is a nice touch. I'd agree it's quite a frontloaded cost and the size may be an issue. but I think it would be easier to justify getting than say, the stadiums or the coliseum since its footprint is only long, not wide. your review was fantastic and really went into depths on why this would be such a worthwhile purchase. Keep up the good work.

    Our local stores finally got some in stock today, so I managed to snag one. Just finished the first 3 bags - found it kind of neat when you get to the stage where you build the bow port windows, the starboard side is connected with green connecting plates and the port side, with red connecting plates which would be respective to the correct colour depicting port/starboard. Even though these pieces will be completely hidden with the hull pieces, I found it kind of neat that they used the appropriate colours for this step - I'm assuming it was done intentionally for designing purposes.

    The reason why the middle propeller does not turn is quite realistic. So the main two propellers of the Titanic were powered by steam engines but the third one a brand new system called a steam turbine that essentially used the steam left in by the engines to turn the third propeller.

    On the Forward mast, there was actually a crane built on it that would be lowered to lift heavy loads that the other cranes on board the titanic could not. In the titanic movie from 97 the crane is used in one of the first shots to lift the car onto the ship. When the crane was put away it would sit flush against the mast. Very nice Lego model

    On mentioning the nameplate, I had an idea: add MGY - the ship's Marconi tag - and 401, the ship's hull number (her older sister Olympic was the 400th hull built by Harland and Wolff)
    Other such specs would be added as well

    Just wanted to get this info out there, that central shaft was never powered by a piston engine. My guess is that the "gearbox" you thought was a electric generator was actually the turbine that powered the central shaft. Amazing accuracy!

    • @DanielDybing
      @DanielDybing Před rokem +1

      That is correct. That's also why the center propeller could only rotate clockwise (making the ship move forward), as the turbine was "uni-directional"

    • @martinblanch5828
      @martinblanch5828 Před rokem +1

      I learnt this later but yeah the manual makes you think it's the generator as it'tells you how much electric it produced and then you build that part but then its pretty obvious when you think about it as it's not connected to an engine. The generators where connected to the left and right prop shafts of the main engines.

    • @DanielDybing
      @DanielDybing Před rokem +1

      @@martinblanch5828 The generators were not driven by the prop shaft / main engines. They had their own steam engines - three cylinder engines if I recall correctly.
