That was excellent. What invaluable insights to prayer and paying attention to the fire being lit, even in the midst of the Rosary. I discovered your channel from picking up a copy of Totus Tuus on my way out of Benedict Priory. After being Christened as a baby, it has only taken 41 years to become a catechumen. Moving to Ireland 7 years ago has been a blessing, not without sacrifice. And this coming Sunday I will be received in the Catholic Church, and I couldn't be more thankful. Strongly considered Augustine, but Patrick is the name chosen for Confirmation. Glory to God.

From the prayer, St. Patrick's Breastplate:
    Christ with me,
    Christ before me,
    Christ behind me,
    Christ in me,
    Christ beneath me,
    Christ above me,
    Christ on my right,
    Christ on my left,
    Christ when I lie down,
    Christ when I sit down,
    Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
    I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
    Through belief in the Threeness,
    Through confession of the Oneness
    of the Creator of creation.

What a great man St Patrick was. I have recently spent time a little time, thinking about the breastplate of St Patrick. And how a man can dream up such a wonderful prayer.
The foundation of St Patrick breastplate, must have been born out of pain and suffering also a good measure of fear and hopelessness. His dependence on God was total. He was a man and what great example of a man he was. Lord Jesus, help me to be more like St Patrick. To learn as he learned. To live as he lived. To love as he loved. To worship as he worshiped. Good St Patrick be watchful over my destination towards holiness.

I was walking my friends' dogs very early one morning in January up at a beautiful place overlooking the river, and it was frosty and misty like a dream. The sun was shining brightly through the trees, highlighting the old church tower, and my heart just felt like it was bursting! I was praying - just "thank you God" and then I started singing a hymn at the top of my voice. Weird, but it was just springing out of me and I was filled with joy.

Wow!!! Affective verses effective. That's a word in itself. Prayer out of love instead of need. Like courting the Almighty having completely intimate moments from within. As opposed to expectations of physical fulfillment of our wants. He becomes the desire of our heart. Wow! Just WOW!

I was allowed to be ‘afflicted’ by a cross/trial which, if I were to survive it, necessitated that I learned quickly to submit to God’s Presence in my spirit. God told me, not long after it began, that “He would not spare me but would sustain me.” This ability to place myself in His Presence saved me. In prayer, everything flows from one’s spirit-into the body, mind, heart, and soul. As Jesus said: “God is Spirit”. Employ your spirit and prayer is Life, yet sometimes tears, too. I “relish” God but I do see it as a bit of a condiment on top of the Life He gives me😂. Thank you Father for more prompting to prayer, again🙏

Father Columba, I loved what you told us at 12:08 about the King 👑, Our Lord Jesus Christ, being in his castle 🏰, which is our ❤️: this from St. Francis of Assisi. I was in Assisi in 1990 on a Franciscan Pilgrimage Tour from NYC. You could cut the holiness I felt in Assisi with a 🔪 -- that's how thick it was/is! I love him + St. Patrick! So... Happy St. Paddy's Day 🍀☘️☘️☘️🍀! Father, bless!

Haha, it’s sad that that’s how a lot of people celebrate, but it’s so much more than that!
“A School of Prayer” by Pope Benedict would be a great place to start.

I found a free pdf of confessions of St Patrick and what struck me was
“The Lord opened the sense of my unbelief that I might at last remember my sins and be converted with all my heart to the Lord my God who had regard for my abjection and mercy on my youth and ignorance and watched over me before I knew him and before I was able to distinguish between good and evil and guarded me and comforted me as well the father his son”. WOW

  • @lucaswagemann5995
    @lucaswagemann5995 Před 2 lety

He was probably one of the bravest Catholics that’s ever relatable. Which makes him untrustworthy to some 😅. There is actually a mystery in a confession that was compressed in one of the confession that was discussed amongst some of his friend(s) privately. Makes me wonder if it was a schism.
Nonetheless. He glorified God. And therefore had a confession of discipline in his life. Was very prudent. And in his life time had a cause of piety.
